Identificação de indicadores globais para as áreas de sustentabilidade ambiental e responsabilidade social: estudo de caso em uma indústria de fornecimento de insumos para o refino de petróleo / Identification of global indicator for areas of enviromental sustaintability and social responsability: essay about a case in an industry of a raw materials materials manufacter for the oil industry

Andreia Silva de São José 04 November 2010 (has links)
The integration of environmental sustainability with social responsibility has increasingly been the focus of numerous discussions worldwide. The appreciation of the worker and environmental preservation gain importance as a management tool, not only to fulfill the law, but also to improve quality, competitiveness and demands of society. The social and environmental indicators as a tool of support, seek to meet the needs of social and environmental information with business expectations. In this context, this study highlights the need for the proposition that global indicators integrated and systemic assist in managing business results excel for the development of convergent way to sustainability in the various areas that make up the industry in supplying inputs for petroleum refining. With the use of a questionnaire on relevance and availability of data on indicators and using the methodology of the weighted sum was organized a priority between the indicators surveyed in the company, adjacent to the proposition of indicators of social responsibility. Were then prepared their global indicators: environmental sustainability and social responsibility. Thus, larger studies are recommended for the continued development of global indicators to contribute to positioning theory and evaluation of practical performances

Sustainability analysis, report and statement

Jordaan, G., Uwah, Z. January 2013 (has links)
Published Article / The vision of CUT is to transform itself into a sustainable university, by incorporating sustainable development in its teaching, research and learning environment, and by maximizing and mainstreaming environmental, economic and social sustainability in all its operations and educational activities. For this reason it launched a sustainable development (SD) project in February 2011. This process is being managed by the Office of Technology and Innovation and executed according to a project plan, which is continually rolled-out as progress is being made with the project. This article is a brief summary of progress that has been made during the first year of implementation of the plan.

Metrics and success indicators of an international commodity marketing office

Shaw, Murray Justin 19 December 2008 (has links)
This study defines the need and practicality of measuring and determining the metrics and success indicators for an international commodity marketing office for a bulk material resource mining corporation and more particularly for the recently established international marketing office of the specific corporate. The methodology of the study offers the industry a comprehensive investigative process to prove the viability of various quantifiable and qualifiable metrics and success indicators as well as value proposition potentials for an international commodity marketing office were found. The expected and high priority functions of the international marketing office were Customer relationship management and Competitive & Market intelligence The measurement criteria are collated within 4 main groupings namely General, Products, Markets and Financial. The specificity of the monitoring points and the fact that they are derived from non-financial and non marketing bases proves that their determination and measurement is viable and will further increase the potential value added by a coal commodity marketing office. Based on similarities between coal commodity market drivers and drawing this relation back through the generality of the bulk commodity marketing concepts and processes, the same benefits and or metrics may also be true for all commodities and their relevant marketing offices.

The development and testing of instruments to measure concepts in the revelation readiness model of lifestyle change.

Marsh, Gene Whitmore January 1989 (has links)
The purpose of this research was to construct and test two instruments to measure concepts in the Revelation Readiness Model of Lifestyle Change, a nursing theory generated from previous research. The Marsh Revelation Readiness Index (MRRI) referenced readiness for revelation and measured eight concepts. The Marsh Revelation Scale (MRS), referenced the revelation construct and measured three concepts. Three groups of well adults (N = 132) who were making or had made health lifestyle changes were tested. Testing consisted of completing the MRRI, and MRS and other instruments that were used in estimating validity. Reliability testing included tests of stability and internal consistency. Test-retest coefficients for the MRRI ranged from .57 to .82. Alpha coefficients ranged from .23 to .79, and theta coefficients ranged from .34 to .80. To improve consistency the MRRI was revised. Reliability testing of the revised scale, revealed test-retest coefficients of .73 to .75. Alpha coefficients of .74 and .86, and theta coefficients of .77 and .87. Reliability testing of the MRS revealed test-retest coefficients of .64 to.83, alpha coefficients of .65 to .91, and theta coefficients of .68 to .91. Criterion related validity between the MRS and the Power as Knowing Participation in Change Test was estimated with correlations ranging from .19 to .43. The MRRI and the Cantril Ladder of Life Satisfaction demonstrated convergence on the Readiness construct (r = -.44 to -.52, and r =.33). Construct validity was estimated on both instruments by factor analysis and predictive modeling. Three components of the MRRI reflected the two predicted theoretical components. Five underlying factors of the MRS indicated that the theoretical components were not explained as predicted. Failure of predictive modeling to meet theoretical expectations was discussed in relation to violation of the method's underlying assumptions.

Development and Implementation of Environmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in Swedish Manufacturing Industry

Shah, Bilal Ahmed January 2013 (has links)
Traditional manufacturing industry have developed a linear production path that involves resource extraction, energy usage, emissions released to air and water, and waste produced at volumes and rates that places increasing burden on the natural environment. These traditional manufacturing organizations have mostly viewed environmental activities separately from their core business operations. Today, organizations are shifting their manufacturing approach. There is a significant potential to reduce the energy use, emissions released, resource consumption and wastes produced through sustainable initiatives. Using environmental key performance indicators (KPIs) is one emerging sustainability initiative. Environmental KPIs depict the vast quantity of environmental data of a firm in a comprehensive and concise manner, applying mostly to set absolute material and energy data in relation to other variables in order to increase the informational value of quantitative data. In this thesis work, literature review and empirical study was carried out to find out the significant factors and the major challenges during the development and implementation of environmental key performance indicators (KPIs). A case study in four Swedish manufacturing companies was carried out to collect primary data which was later compared with literature review. The thesis work also highlights the management system used to implement environmental KPIs.
