A Research on Information System Reengineering Strategies for Passive Component Electronic Industry

Hou, Te-Shin 23 July 2002 (has links)
In order to adapt with the rapidly changing industrial environment and improve the efficiency of management, enterprise needs to re-engineer their information system. The whole process of business reengineering is induced by motivation of reengineering. After that, enterprise needs to select a reengineering strategy and transform into the executive plan to start the rest part. The information system reengineering process follows the same pathway as process of business reengineering. The wrong strategy might lead the wrong execution, which cause failure of the whole reengineering. In this research, author tried to build a model to explain how reengineering motivation interacts with the choice of reengineering strategy, and verifies the model by real case chosen from Passive Component Electronic Industry. The outcome might be helpful for the enterprises whose information system reengineering is going to take place.

An empirical study of postponement application for large manufacturers in electronic/IT, clothing, and electric appliances industries

Huang, Yu-Ying 11 February 2008 (has links)
Postponement, which is a stategy in the area of supply chain management, has a long history of practical applications as well as academic literature. However, most existing studies are conceptual and the main method of empiprical study is case study, which leads to the empirical findings are not able to be generalized to other companies or industries. In addition, past empirical researches are almost entirely conducted in the Western countries. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the motivations, current situations, facilitators and and results of postponement in Greater China (including Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan). This study conducted two interviews and a questionnaire survey by e-mail across three industries. The result indicated that postponement application in Greater China was growing and the degree of postponement application was higher than the previous evidences in the West regions. Rather, environmental uncertainty, administrative factors, and IS maturity had positive effects on postponement application. In addition, industry characteristics would also affect the types of postponement strategy used. As to the results of applying postponement, postponement indeed raises company performances, but it is not necessary to facilitate companies outsource operations activities.

Stategic IT outsourcing decisions: meta-analysis method, building theoretical framework and inferring to media firms

Huang, I-ying 12 July 2009 (has links)
Strategic IT outsourcing decisions have attracted attentions from the researchers and practitioners for over a decade. However, although there were many researchers emphasizing the ¡§content¡¨ of information technology, few were focusing on the ¡§distribution¡¨ issues. Lee, Huynh et al. (2003) identified seven patterns in the outsourcing research literature from a historical evolutionary perspective. These patterns, which can serve as areas of inquiries in the domain of IT outsourcing research, include: outsourcing decision (to make or to buy), outsourcing motivation, scope of outsourcing, performance assessment, insourcing (the variant of outsourcing), outsourcing contract, and outsourcing partnership. This research focuses on the areas of outsourcing contract and partnerships at the higher end of the evolutionary loop, but would refer to the other areas of IT outsourcing research as needed. Mahnke, Overby and Van (2005) draw on concept-centric literature review approach (Meta-analysis approach) to review 19 empirical IT outsourcing research between 1995-2002. They report their findings of the theoretical perspectives used in these empirical studies, which include transaction cost economics, competence perspective and relational view. Building on their endeavor, my meta-analysis review in this research study will focus on empirical IT outsourcing studies conducted after 2002, especially on empirical research centered on IT outsourcing contract and partnering issues that have not been extensively reviewed by Mahnke et al. and other researchers. Drawing on concept-centric literature review approach suggested by Webster and Watson (2002) in MIS Quarterly, this research study will integrate cross-field knowledge on IT outsourcing contracts and partnerships issues, and thus infer to media firms management. Our key findings includes the discussion between theories and empirical research, knowledge integration of outsourcing contract and outsourcing partnerships, comparison of empirical studies content, and other important concepts. Besides, we combine our findings and the three main theories in IT outsourcing field: TCE, RBV, and RV, and thus made the integrated theoretical framework. Finally, we infer our integrated theoretical framework to media firms¡¦ management.

Viešbučių rezervavimo sistema / Hotel reservation system

Paužas, Paulius 29 May 2005 (has links)
In this work the Hotel Reservation system is created and developed. The development starts with setting functional and non-functional requirements for the system and identifying the end users: Administrator, Secretary, Manager, Internet user. The system is realized with suitable technologies from Microsoft .NET namely ASP.NET, ADO.NET, Visual C#.NET and is available both through stationary (personal computer) and mobile (cell phone) devices. The system is tested and documented in detail for any end user. It fulfilled all the requirements and expectations of the end users.

Assessing the Impact of the Transition to an Enterprise-Wide Health Information System on Pharmacy Performance.

Boyles, Steven, Weibel, Kurt January 2014 (has links)
Class of 2014 Abstract / Specific Aims: The purpose of this study is to quantitatively analyze the pharmacy department’s performance before and after the transition from a segmented set of information technology systems to an enterprise wide electronic health record. Methods: This prospective, observational study collected data from both the pre-implementation and post-implementation electronic systems. The enterprise wide electronic system was implemented on November 1, 2013. Medication turnaround time, missing medication requests, and profile-linked automated dispensing cabinet (ADC) override rates were measured before implementation (August and September 2013) and after implementation (November 2013 and January, February, and March 2014). This study did not use patient specific data and does not involve human subjects and therefore was exempt from Institutional Review Board review. Main Results: Average medication turnaround time in November 2013 (1243.6 seconds; 95% CI 1219.55-1267.73) was significantly slower than in September 2013 (697.71 seconds; 95% CI 685.45-709.97; p<0.001). In January 2014, there was no difference (695.45 seconds; 95% CI 678.17-712.73; p = 0.83) and February 2014 showed significant improvement (619.09 seconds; 95% CI 605.18-633.00; p<0.001). There were significantly more missing medication requests in February (19002) and March 2014 (18996) than in August 2013 (1319; p<0.001 for both). The ADC override rate was significantly higher in November 2013 (5.87%) than in August 2013 (3.98%; p<.001) and lower in February 2014 (3.16%; p<0.001). Conclusion: This study suggests that implementation of an enterprise-wide electronic health record has led to improved pharmacy order processing efficiency and allowed for increased communication between healthcare professionals, albeit with a loss of efficiency initially.

Konfigurovatelný informační systém / Configurable information system

Kokeš, Petr January 2015 (has links)
The topic of the master thesis is focused on the design of information system which is designed on the base of the analysis of existing information systems available in the Czech Republic. This analysis is focused on finding uncovered areas. Evaluation of information systems is based on a multicriterial selection analysis, which can specify a minimally covered area. The aim of the master thesis is to show undiscovered possibilities of information systems maintaining the various types of information. The first part is focused to characteristics of information systems, its kinds and types. This part is focused to architecture and to methods of information systems design, too. The second part is focused on analysis of the existing information systems. The aim is to identify areas that are not sufficiently covered. The third part is focused on design of an information system based on the analysis of uncovered areas in the first part. In the last section is documentation of created an information system.
