Aplicação da inspeção não intrusiva em equipamentos do sistema de dessulfurização de gás natural da plataforma de Pampo

Sampaio, Marcus Vinicius Cruz January 2009 (has links)
This paper presents the results of applying the methodology of non-intrusive inspection (INI) in electrical system flue gas desulphurization an oil rig, with the help of riskbased inspection using the API RP 581. The non-intrusive inspection is implemented with the guides as the foundations of inspection, such as DNV-RP-G103, which gathers information on how to make and justify its use, to ensure the safety of installations, eliminating the need for a parade equipment to perform the inspection. However not all equipment could be inspected by this method, due to operational limitations and / or constructive. The paper concludes that the non-intrusive inspection can be applied to inspection of equipment subject to the risk map of the equipment or unit, and those where it is not possible to use only the methodology, it may be applied along with conventional inspection providing important information on the status of the equipment, thereby improving the reliability of planning maintenance shutdown and lower costs.

Bovine and pork meat inspection has been the major tool for animal cysticercosis diagnosis and also for taeniasis prevention. In this study 96 bovine carcasses, 117 swine blood serum samples and 632 human stool samples from the Jaguapirú and Bororó villages were evaluated for cyst forms, anti-Taenia sp. antibodies and for Taenia sp. eggs, respectively. We observed cyst forms in 18.75% of the bovine carcasses, 9.4% of the serum samples had antibodies anti-Taenia sp and 1.1% of the examinated human stool showed presence of Taenia sp. eggs. Our results suggest that the Indian population from those villages may favor the maintenance of the taeniasis-cysticercosis complex, because they live in poor sanitary conditions and also because they commercialize bovine and pork meat not only within those villages but also in the metropolitan area of Dourados.

Development of a Multi-Body Autonomous Inspection Robot for Small Diameter Pipes

Lamonde, Jeff January 2017 (has links)
The pipeline network of North America is thousands of kilometer long and is ever increasing. To ensure the safety of every individual whose lives are affected by this network, the inspection of the pipelines are mandatory. With the steady progress and downsizing of robotic components, the wireless inspection of smaller pipelines is now a possibility and is the principal driver of this research. Mainly, the scope of this project is to explore the feasibility of the fabrication of a robot to inspect pipes of diameter of six to eight inches. Various design possibilities and the inherent problems of small confined environments inspections are investigated. The parameters for the fewest number of collisions for the design of a pipe robot is presented and various pipe scenarios are simulated. Finally, a prototype is fabricated and recommendations are suggested for future subsequent iterations of the robot.

Adaptive Machine Vision for Automotive Component Inspection

Yang, Kai 08 1900 (has links)
Although the consistency, low cost, and high speed of machine vision systems make them suitable for many areas of manufacturing, there exist challenges for online inspection using machine vision systems due to the presence of variations in lighting, part position/orientation and part finish. In this thesis, a novel adaptive machine vision system based on pixel-by-pixel analysis and a neural network based vision system are presented to solve two challenging industrial inspection problems. Both of the vision systems stem from the idea of adaptive image processing to analyze an image with respect to its local properties. In the first part of the thesis, a pixel-by-pixel analysis based adaptive vision system is designed for an automotive water pump housing surface inspection problem. This vision system is used to inspect the machined surface of a die-cast part. The defects on this part may include pores, dents and scratches. This problem is challenging for several reasons. First, non-uniform surface finish on the parts produces large brightness variations that must be reduced using a controlled lighting work cell and adaptive camera control. Second, the defects can be subtle and less than lmm in diameter, while the surface is roughly 180mm by llOmm. Third, the surface often includes machining marks that appear similar to defects in the image, but are not considered defects. Finally, due to the manufacturing and fixturing variations, the size and location of the area to be inspected varies considerably, so that a simple fixed mask cannot be used to separate this area from the rest of the image. These challenges have been overcome by developing an adaptive machine vision system. This system includes custom-designed controlled lighting, and several software algorithms for adapting to the variations in surface quality and geometry. The system can detect defects as small as 0.15 mm. It has been tested with over 1,700 images that were collected at the factory. The majority of the defects were pores. These pores were correctly classified in 93% of the cases. In the second part of the thesis, a neural network-based vision system is developed for an automotive beam clip present/absent inspection problem. In this inspection problem, it is difficult to obtain the theoretical expression for the conditions of 'clip present', 'clip absent' and also for the clip orientation. Furthermore, there exist strong variations in this inspection problem, such as changing lighting conditions, environmental disturbances, clip locations and clip orientations. A CMAC neural network-based vision algorithm is developed to overcome these challenges. The CMAC neural network has the ability to learn fast and is suitable for real-time inspection applications. This vision system is demonstrated to correctly classify 100% of the cases, for the given automotive part images, after being trained for 151 seconds. / Thesis / Master of Applied Science (MASc)

The Effects of Multitasking on Quality Inspection in Advanced Manufacturing Systems

Pesante-Santana, José A. 19 November 1997 (has links)
Technological and strategic developments have changed the role of human operators in the manufacturing environment. The highly specialized work force of the low-tech manufacturing system has evolved into the multi-functional work force of the high-tech manufacturing system. Among the multiple tasks that an operator is expected to conduct in advanced manufacturing systems (AMS) are job scheduling, inventory planning, machine set-up, problem solving, and quality inspection. The quality inspection task in AMS consists of a search component, frequently conducted by a machine, and a decision making component conducted by the operator. This quality inspection system is often referred to as a hybrid inspection system (HIS). It has been demonstrated that in general the performance of HIS is better than that of pure human or pure automated inspection systems. This research investigated the effects of different types of defects (presented at the same time in the inspected parts), multitasking (concurrently conducting independent tasks), and their interaction on the operator's performance in the quality inspection task (with a memorized quality criteria) in an AMS. The results indicate that the performance of the operator in the quality inspection task while multitasking in an AMS will be determined not only by the variety of defects that can be present in the inspected parts, but also by the mental processing resources required to meet the demand imposed by the multiple independent tasks and the memorized quality criteria. The best performance will be obtained when the additional tasks' load minimizes the monotony of the quality inspection task without interfering with the processing resources needed for the memorized quality criteria. / Ph. The Effects Of Inspection Error And Rework On Quality Loss For A Nominal-the-best Type Quality Characteristic

Taseli, Aysun 01 August 2004 (has links) (PDF)
Taguchi defines quality loss as the loss imposed to the consumer for each unit of deviation from the target consumer requirements. In this thesis, the effects of inspection error and rework on quality loss are studied for a nominal-the-best type quality characteristic. The distribution of the quality characteristic in a production environment where there are inspection error and a separate rework facility is investigated. 100 % inspection policy is considered. After deriving the mean and variance of the resulting distribution of the quality characteristic, the true and simulated quality loss values for a number of scenarios are calculated. Furthermore, effects of deviation of the process mean from the target and variance of the rework are studied besides inspection error and process capability through a full factor factorial experimental design. Results are discussed for possible uses as quality improvement project selection criteria.
