A participação do arrependimento na constituição humana: concern, metanoia, a estória de um pardal / The participation of repentance in human constitution: concern, metanoia, the story of a sparrowJavera, João Pedro Lorenzon 10 June 2016 (has links)
This study aims to investigate the experience of repentance within human constitution. One of our sources to do so, will be through Donald Winnicott\'s (1896-1971) psychoanalytic contributions regarding the surging of the sense of guilt in a baby-mother relationship, and the transformation of this sense in what he named \"the capacity for concern\", or the \"stage of concern\". We will also approach Christian Theology, more specifically the Orthodox perspective, as a way to understand our subject. It presents repentance and its relations to the human condition through the concept of metanoia. This word was borrowed from the Ancient Greek Culture and has the meaning of \"change of mind\", or rather, \"a life change\", in which a human being finds a new perspective to life existence. These two ways of comprehending repentance will meet in a dialogue, and through it we can point out some commonalities and discrepancies between them, as well as their inner paradigms. Our research will add the understanding of repentance that can be taken from the movie \"The Song of the Sparrows\", of the iranian director, Majid Majidi. This movie can contribute with our discussion since it brings a live and poetic narrative concerning the subject in question. All the presented perspectives enable us to treat our investigation in a deep and complex way, and lead us to a specific look to the human condition that confirms the necessity of such transformational experience as a fundamental element of human constitution. In conclusion, all the theoretical contributions will be related to the clinical work and its peculiarities

Changes of Mind and Heart: Navigating Emotion in an Expanded Theory of KairosMyers, Kelly Anne January 2008 (has links)
According to Greek mythology, when the god of opportunity appears, there is but an instant in which a person must seize him in order to take advantage of the god's beneficence. If the moment is missed, the god passes by, finalizing the loss of opportunity. As a rhetorical concept, kairos emphasizes the importance of seizing--even creating--opportunities in a manner that is situationally effective and appropriate. Though kairos is often discussed as a single, pivotal moment of opportunity, this study argues that in order to better understand kairos and its role in rhetorical studies, the concept must be understood much more expansively. One of the central ways in which this dissertation broadens the concept of kairos is by acknowledging the long-standing conceptual and iconographic link between kairos and metanoia. In artwork and epigrams, the god of opportunity is often depicted with a female figure named Metanoia who brings elements such as repentance, reflection, regret, and transformation into the kairotic moment. Additionally, exploring the connections between kairos and metanoia introduces the concepts of metis (cunning or skill) and akairos (the inopportune) into kairos. Thus this dissertation expands the realm of kairos to include both opportune and inopportune moments that the savvy (or metis-endowed) rhetor can navigate. In addition to acknowledging the vital roles that metanoia, metis, and akairos play in the kairotic moment, this dissertation argues that an expanded theory of kairos offers new avenues for studying and employing emotion in the field of rhetoric and composition. In particular, it introduces the concept of akairos as both a rhetorical strategy (akairotic rhetoric) and an entry point into analytical discussions of the ways in which emotion functions on both individual and societal levels to alter perceptions of the possible. This dissertation argues that an expanded theory of kairos, one that recognizes the importance of akairos, extends the options for emotion as rhetorical device by challenging the etiquettes of emotion that traditional theories of kairos maintain.

Some fundamental organizing concepts in a Greek monastic community on Mount AthosSarris, Marios January 2000 (has links)
This social anthropological thesis reports on fieldwork in a coenobitic Orthodox monastery on Mount Athos. In Part I the thesis is concerned with metanoia - repentance from sins. Penthos, mourning, is a personal condition of extreme sobriety in which both laughter and anger are avoided, and repentance must be expressed in word and posture if ever anger is shown. But tacitly, there can be a competitive element in seeking pardon. If a monk weeps, this is seen as a gift - charisma - from God, and this is most likely to be conferred on senior and notably devout monks. Part II is concerned with the transition from the newcomer status through to three higher degrees of spiritual maturity. This progress is marked both by transitional rituals, such as tonsure, and the formal donning of robes which signify higher stages. The insights of Van Gennep are helpftil in appreciating the general transition from the secular to a more spiritual condition, and in appreciating particular rituals. But the condition of spiritual vulnerability is not captured by either a particular rite, or practices in a particular place. The fuller understanding of passage requires Seremetakis' wider and more flexible approach, expressed in the concept of "ritualization". She directs our attention away from the specificity of any particular rite, to the wider context of fragmented social experiences, and understandings which are precipitates of an unstable flow of ordinary social events. Part ifi deals with the problems presented by parastaseis - representations - or, more simply, memories of secular life. Monks should have utterly renounced their secular affections to their consanguineal kin. Nor should they be proud of their previous communities of origin, or educational attainments. In principle, the value of humility - tapeinosis - should reign. But here is a further context for inequality to occur. For the minority of monks who have been previously married, no matter how they struggle to obliterate memories of their attachments to wives or children - are deemed to be in an inherently inferior condition to those whose purity has never been compromised by sexual congress, or procreative pride. The thesis concludes with the observation that Turner's concept of an inherently egalitarian communitas is not supported by the monastery. Rather, Dumont's proposal that in all religious value commitments, there are inevitably implicit rank differences, fmds support. Just as the monks in their own eyes are spiritually superior to the laity, so within the community of monks, the nevermarried are ranked in their own eyes above the pandremenoi, the "married" monks. In a substantial Appendix, the monastic naming system is examined within the framework of suggestions from Levi-Strauss, and against the contrast medium of previous Greek ethnography.

Psicologia analítica e orientação profissional e de carreira: contribuições para atendimentos na metanoia / Not informed by the authorFerrentini, Tatiana Milani 12 April 2019 (has links)
The main goal of this dissertation is to suggest contributions for career development of people in metanoia transition. This piece is the result of a qualitative research, that approaches analytical psychotherapy and career psychology concepts of human development. Several observations on career development were made, which were supported by the reseacher\'s professional experience and by excerpts from specialized bibliography, that highlighted some thoughts about development from analytycal psychology authors and career psychology authors. The result shows that both the analytical phychology and the career psychology consider metanoia as a critical period in adult life, that affects and is affected by the family, by love relationships and by career. Metanoia transition demands important psychological transformations, specially evocating persona and shadow creatives potencials. It is a great opportunity of development during adulthood. This dissertation also highlights the polarities that claim for major transformation during metanoia transition. It also lists several reasons that lead people look for help in career development during metanoia transition and raises a discussion about the importance of a careful diagnosis and the professional education on carreer development

Metanoia: caminho para o desenvolvimento no meio da vida / Metanoia: development path in the middle of lifePandini, Ana Lúcia Ramos 25 June 2014 (has links)
This thesis investigates how the experiences of Metanoia occur in middle age, the period between forty and sixty years in contemporaneity. The Metanoia is characterized by a psychological process that can occur from the middle of life where intense fluxes of energy flow from unconscious toward consciousness bringing new content to the conscious psyche and also approaching repressed or neglected contents in the past so that they can be developed and integrated by the ego. This process mobilizes both crisis as well as emotional development. Through data collected in four group meetings with six participants, four women and two men, aged between 46 and 59 years, were analyzed, from the reference of analytical psychology, the psychological transformation reported by cooperators concerning proceedings from aging as well as the process of Metanoia themselves. The data point to significant changes in the following categories: relationship to the body, health and energy, time, aging and finitude, sexuality and emotional relationship, relationship with friendships and relationship with parents and children, work and retirement, society and culture, development of maturity. It was observed in the studied material increased dialogue ego-self, already well described in the literature as well as the intensification of the dialogue ego-persona and ego-puer-senex, being the latter two as important in the processes of adaptation, transformation and expansion of the conscious personality as the first. Also it was observed in the group\'s material the functioning of the axis ego-hero archetype through a thought and capacity of reflexive action which increased the egoism autonomy to engage with both poles of the various instances of the psychic unconscious without identifying with any of them. The research showed that adulthood is as important in the development personality as any other phase of life. The work also highlights the importance of the group both as a method of data collection as for its functioning a rite of passage into adulthood. The group showed up as an enabler for meaningful exchanges with people of the same age providing deeper insights into the psychological development by recognizing and sharing the needs of building old papers already consolidated in personality in a world of rapid and constant transformation
