Orientador: Luiz Eduardo Buzato / Dissertação (mestrado profissional) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Computação / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-07T21:51:35Z (GMT). Portanto, outras soluções baseadas em sistemas de gerência de persistência alternativos devem ser consideradas / Abstract: Web applications are very common applications nowadays and it is necessary to find solutions for performance improvements for these applications. There are several ways to implement these performance improvements, including applications and databases replication and usage of main-memory databases. Looking for performance improvements we can think about using main-memory databases together with replication algorithms. In order to implement this, it is necessary to choose a main-memory database that are stable and with good performance to be used to implement a replication layer on it. The objective of this work is analyzing a main-memory database performance and compares it with the performance of two traditional databases. The database systems chosen were: Monet, as a main-memory database, and MySQL and PostgreSQL, as traditional databases. In order to have a benchmark that is valid for web applications usage we chose the TPC-W benchmark, which specifies a book store implementation and emulated browsers to access this shop, which allows an analysis on database performance. This work will show a study about theories involved and the results of executed tests, where Monet¿s performance does not seem to be better performance in most cases and Monet seems not be stable enough to be used on a real system for replication of web applications. Therefore, other solutions based on alternative persistence management systems should be considered. / Mestrado / Engenharia de Computação / Mestre em Ciência da Computação

PEESOS-Cloud: Uma arquitetura para o planejamento e execução de experimentos em sistemas orientados a serviços considerando a carga de trabalho / PEESOS-Cloud: an architecture for the planning and execution of experiments in service-oriented systems considering the workload

Carlos Henrique Gomes Ferreira 11 March 2016 (has links)
This master thesis aims at developing an architecture called PEESOS-Cloud for conducting experiments in the service oriented systems capable of respecting the workload. Possible problems during the generation of load experiments environments were identified and summarized. Based on these problems and limited to the characteristics of distributed systems, two modules and a model for load generation were developed and associated with PEESOS-Cloud. An experimental evaluation was performed demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposal of acting in the evaluation of service-oriented systems. For this, experiments scenarios were defined by varying the architecture of execution environment. Thus, the performance of a synthetic application offered as a service has been studied and evaluated. The results showed how the proposed architecture allows us to identify the characteristics of the workload. In addition, uncharacterized workload can provide an inconsistent performance evaluation. On the other hand, as the same workload, subject to specific conditions, can support a solid performance evaluation.

Proposition d'un processus d'évaluation multidomaine pour améliorer la conception de produit / Proposal for a multidomain evaluation process to improve product design

Audoux, Kévin 02 July 2019 (has links)
Industrial competition is driving companies to develop new innovative products. In addition, industrial companies are increasingly subject to constraints from the various actors in the design process (manufacturers, users) or linked to changes in their environment (regulations, technologies). It is therefore necessary for them to adapt their design activities and more particularly the evaluation steps so that the products developed correspond to the multiple requirements of all stakeholders. These constraints result in the integration of new domains or the evolution of existing domains into the design process. In this context, the objective of this thesis work is to formalize and provide methods for multidomain evaluation in the design process. This manuscript therefore addresses the following question: "How can evaluation phases in a multidomain design process help to increase the performance of intermediate representations? ». To this end, we propose a methodology to improve the evaluation process by creating a multidomain evaluation tool and formalizing the steps of the evaluation process to provide improvement methods adapted to the areas concerned by the product to be designed. Experiments are being carried out to validate their contribution to the design process, focusing in particular on three areas: innovation, taking into account environmental impacts and additive manufacturing. These experiments made it possible to validate the methodology for creating an evaluation tool and the contribution of the improvement steps.

Queueing Network Models for Performance Evaluation of Dynamic Multi-Product Manufacturing Systems

January 2020 (has links)
abstract: Modern manufacturing systems are part of a complex supply chain where customer preferences are constantly evolving. The rapidly evolving market demands manufacturing organizations to be increasingly agile and flexible. Medium term capacity planning for manufacturing systems employ queueing network models based on stationary demand assumptions. However, these stationary demand assumptions are not very practical for rapidly evolving supply chains. Nonstationary demand processes provide a reasonable framework to capture the time-varying nature of modern markets. The analysis of queues and queueing networks with time-varying parameters is mathematically intractable. In this dissertation, heuristics which draw upon existing steady state queueing results are proposed to provide computationally efficient approximations for dynamic multi-product manufacturing systems modeled as time-varying queueing networks with multiple customer classes (product types). This dissertation addresses the problem of performance evaluation of such manufacturing systems. This dissertation considers the two key aspects of dynamic multi-product manufacturing systems - namely, performance evaluation and optimal server resource allocation. First, the performance evaluation of systems with infinite queueing room and a first-come first-serve service paradigm is considered. Second, systems with finite queueing room and priorities between product types are considered. Finally, the optimal server allocation problem is addressed in the context of dynamic multi-product manufacturing systems. The performance estimates developed in the earlier part of the dissertation are leveraged in a simulated annealing algorithm framework to obtain server resource allocations. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Industrial Engineering 2020
