Off-line quality control by robust parameter design

Min, Jun Young January 1900 (has links)
Master of Science / Department of Statistics / Shie-Shien Yang / There have been considerable debates over the robust parameter design. As a result, there have been many approaches presented that are suited to the robust parameter design. In my report, I illustrate and present Taguchi's robust parameter design, response surface approach and semi-parameter design. Considerable attention has been placed on the semi-parameter design. This approach is new technology that was introduced to Picke, Robinson, Birch and Anderson-Cook (2006). The method is a combined parametric and nonparametric technique to improve the estimates of both the mean and the variance of the response.

Robustní model optimalizace portfolia a jeho řešení / Robust portfolio optimization model

Löw, Alexandr January 2013 (has links)
Portfolio optimization models aim to optimally distribute capital among selected stocks, bonds and other securities and financial products offered on financial markets. An important factor in the optimization is the risk, which is by definition very abstract concept and is very difficult to quantify. Robust portfolio optimization model is based on the general robust binary model. The robustness of this model lies in a two-stage optimization, where every solution is subject to maximization of losses and from these pessimistic estimates such a solution is selected that best meets the user's criteria, in our case total return of the portfolio.

Robust Estimation of Scatter Matrix, Random Matrix Theory and an Application to Spectrum Sensing

Liu, Zhedong 05 May 2019 (has links)
The covariance estimation is one of the most critical tasks in multivariate statistical analysis. In many applications, reliable estimation of the covariance matrix, or scatter matrix in general, is required. The performance of the classical maximum likelihood method relies a great deal on the validity of the model assumption. Since the assumptions are often approximately correct, many robust statistical methods have been proposed to be robust against the deviation from the model assumptions. M-estimator is an important class of robust estimator of the scatter matrix. The properties of these robust estimators under high dimensional setting, which means the number of dimensions has the same order of magnitude as the number of observations, is desirable. To study these, random matrix theory is a very important tool. With high dimensional properties of robust estimators, we introduced a new method for blind spectrum sensing in cognitive radio networks.

Robustifying SLAM using multiple cameras / Mer robust SLAM med flera kameror

Sillén, Erik January 2016 (has links)
This master thesis is about modifying a certain monocular visual SLAM algorithm to address some of its limitations. The SLAM algorithm is not robust to quick camera motions and input images in which there are few visible features. A second camera and an inertial measurement unit was added to the hardware. Then a method for selecting the appropriate camera for tracking depending on the estimated number of features was implemented to solve the issue of few features. Experiments and results show that this method works well for slow motions. A gyrometer threshold method along with a motion model to solve the issue of quick motions was implemented and reviewed in this thesis.

Öhrström, Albin, Fadhil Jubran, Muhsin January 2020 (has links)
This paper is focusing on the development of a robust rinse tank in a dishwashing machine made for pot washing. The rinse tank plays an important role in the dishwashing process, that is to eliminate any bacteria, dish soap or left-overs, in the last step in the finishing process. Therefore demands on the product is set up, based on the required standards. The demands moststly affect the temperature of the water and the dimensions of an overflow, that will prevent the water from flowing back into the supply water pipelines. The purpose of this paper is to eliminate the problems that occur in the existing rinse tank, such as overheated heat element, unreliable level indicators and corrosion. To achieve this, a new robust rinse tank system is developted, by using an systematic product development method that includes design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for environment (DFE). The work results in a new system for the rinse tank, with a oval-shaped cross-section and contactless level sensors. This new system has a heat element that always is underwater, gives a reliable level indication and has a good resistance against corrosion. Other important improvements are a lower total cost together with a environmental design. The new rinse tank system satisfies the set demands.
