Incorporation of the Caring Moment in Scripting

Barker, Anita E 01 January 2019 (has links)
A large healthcare system in Texas mandated scripting as way to improve patient satisfaction. The purpose of this project was to incorporate a caring moment into scripting by the nursing staff to improve patient satisfaction. The project was guided by Watson's caring theory, the adult learning theory, and Lewin's planned change theory. All 35 nurses from the primary care and specialty care outpatient clinics of the Texas healthcare system participated in a staff development training to learn how to incorporate a caring moment into their script. Of these 35 nurses, 13 (37%) chose to complete the pre-education and postproject surveys. The pre-education survey indicated that nurses (30%) used the scripting almost all the time or all the time with each nurse-patient interaction. At the end of the project, the postproject survey resulted in 12 (92%) nurses who used the script almost all or all the time. At the end of the project the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set Patient Satisfaction Survey data indicated a 1% decrease in satisfaction with communication, a 9% increase in self-management support, and a 1% increase in care coordination. There was no statistical difference in the patient satisfaction scores over the project's 3-month time frame. Staff development training may lead to a positive social change for patient care as a result of nurses' understanding that interacting in a caring manner with patients makes a positive difference in patient satisfaction. The Texas health care system nurses realize that they can apply Watson's caring theory to guide nursing practice and to express caring for patients' physical and emotional needs during the outpatient appointments.

A scripting interface for doubly linked face list based polygonal meshes

Tett, Stuart Tosten 15 May 2009 (has links)
This thesis presents a scripting language interface for modeling manifold meshes represented by a Doubly Linked Face List (DLFL).With a scripting language users can create procedurally generated meshes that would otherwise be tedious or impractical to create with a graphical user interface. I have implemented a scripting language interface for the user to create stand-alone scripts as well as script interactively within a graphical environment.

Effektiviteten av en handbok för EnScript

Teveldal, Adam, Larsson, Kennie, Lago, Mikael January 2014 (has links)
With the increase in IT related crimes the IT forensics has more work ahead of them and it is constantly rising. The analysis software called EnCase is widely used by IT forensics all around the globe and with it comes an internal programming language called EnScript. This paper is designed to examine whether a manual for the programming language EnScript can make a difference in how efficiently the work is.A study between two groups has been made and an evaluation of the results between the two groups. The manual provided aims to introduce the reader to EnScript as a programming language and also to provide a solid foundation to build on in further work with EnScript

A Structural Optimization Scripted Software System

Sun, Yongyan 26 March 2019 (has links)
This thesis introduces an optimization software system which supports two separate optimization approaches to solve structural optimization problems with small and large-scale finite element models. The approach for solving the structural optimization problems of small-scale finite element models consists of the gradient-based optimization method and input file regeneration program. The small-scale structural optimization system, requires users only to put in the parameters of the initial design, the system will run the optimization process and generate new models automatically until the solutions are obtained. The approach for solving structural optimization problems of large-scale finite element models combines parametric finite element modeling methods executed by Python scripts with response surface optimization methods (RSM). This approach reduces the number of finite element analyses as well as reduces the optimization process time. The optimization module of the system is performed by the MATLAB optimization toolbox and the Abaqus finite element program with scripts implemented in Python. A benchmark hollow-tube weight-minimization problem is conducted to test the optimization software system. The percent difference between the solution found by the graphical optimization method and the solution found by the 3D beam finite element model with Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) solver and the graphical optimization method is 1.99%. The percent difference between the results from the 3D beam finite element model with SQP solver and the result from 3D brick finite element model with response surface method is 8.16%. The percent difference between the results from the 3D brick finite element model with RSM and the result from the graphical optimization method is 10.31%. / Master of Science / Commercial structural optimization software packages which integrate modeling tools, optimization and extensive computational tools such as a finite element solver were developed and pushed to the market. However, some commercial approaches to structural optimization are not very general. In addition, the commercial codes are designed for a specific-purpose, and they may not be suitable in many cases. If the commercial codes do not properly represent the structural optimization problem, users have to write custom Python scripts to assist the software system in retrieving data from the .odb files generated by FEA software. This thesis introduces an optimization software system which supports two separate optimization approaches to solve structural optimization problems with small and large-scale finite element models. The optimization module of the system is performed by the MATLAB optimization toolbox and the Abaqus finite element program with scripts implemented in Python. This optimization software system allows users to extract and manipulate data for optimization without limitations. Furthermore, once the required parameters are input in the system, the scripting software creates the finite element model and proceeds with the optimization automatically.

LabVIEW application with embedded Lua scripting for a laser based measuring machine

Coetzee, A., Van Niekerk, T.I. January 2013 (has links)
Published Article / This paper presents the work on the development of software for an industrial laser based measuring machine. The goal being not only for a working application, but also to optimise the development process and ease future maintenance of the software. LabVIEW with its graphical method of programming allows engineers to easily create large software applications to control industrial processes and machines. This software if not properly designed can lead to stability and maintenance problems. The experience gained from developing, maintaining and improving a LabVIEW application for a laser measuring machine, results in the integration of the Lua scripting language into LabVIEW. It is shown how the embedded Lua allows the LabVIEW software application for the machine to be structured for simpler development and maintenance.

Tecnologías disruptivas: programación y fabricación en Latinoamérica

Herrera Polo, Pablo C., Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) 25 February 2015 (has links)
SIGRADI 2010. XIV Congreso de la Sociedad Iberomaericana de Gráfica Digital, desarrollados los días 17, 18 y 19 de Noviembre del 2010. Bogotá, Colombia / Since 2008 the preference for using different programming methods (Rhinoscript) had been analyzed using blogs. Searching for answers to explain the negative tendency of this year (from 48,063 to 16,332), a second repository was created (Grasshopper) featuring interactive methods and techniques. It has been discovered that of the five geographic regions analyzed Latin America is the only one that preferred the interactive interface (18% over programming). This shows that we are still keeping a strong dependency on the use of stable and safe technologies over disruptive ones that proved to be more efficient in design and fabrication.

Vývojové prostředí pro vývoj skriptů v jazyce C# / An IDE for C# Script Development

Pelc, Jan January 2015 (has links)
The goal of this thesis is to explore tools for using the C# programming language to create scripts - short programs for quick and easy solving of small, usually one-time temporary tasks that usually arise during the work on larger projects. In the thesis we analyze existing tools and identify their advantages and disadvantages, formulate requirements for our own tool, and develop our own tool. The result of the thesis is a small integrated development environment (IDE) for quick and easy authoring of scripts in the C# language. The IDE offers sufficient features to allow easy authoring and debugging of programs consisting primarily of a single C# source code file. In the work we make heavy use of the NRefactory library for syntactic and semantic analysis of the C# source code. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Extending dynamic scripting

Ludwig, Jeremy R. 12 1900 (has links)
xvi, 167 p. A print copy of this thesis is available through the UO Libraries. Search the library catalog for the location and call number. / The dynamic scripting reinforcement learning algorithm can be extended to improve the speed, effectiveness, and accessibility of learning in modern computer games without sacrificing computational efficiency. This dissertation describes three specific enhancements to the dynamic scripting algorithm that improve learning behavior and flexibility while imposing a minimal computational cost: (1) a flexible, stand alone version of dynamic scripting that allows for hierarchical dynamic scripting, (2) a method of using automatic state abstraction to increase the context sensitivity of the algorithm, and (3) an integration of this algorithm with an existing hierarchical behavior modeling architecture. The extended dynamic scripting algorithm is then examined in the three different contexts. The first results reflect a preliminary investigation based on two abstract real-time strategy games. The second set of results comes from a number of abstract tactical decision games, designed to demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses of extended dynamic scripting. The third set of results is generated by a series of experiments in the context of the commercial computer role-playing game Neverwinter Nights demonstrating the capabilities of the algorithm in an actual game. To conclude, a number of future research directions for investigating the effectiveness of extended dynamic scripting are described. / Adviser: Arthur Farley
