[pt] A presente dissertação parte do estudo de imagens produzidas no Estado Novo brasileiro com o objetivo de identificar os elementos visuais utilizados como ferramentas para difusão da ideologia do regime. Desde a segunda metade do século dezenove, novos modelos de organização social e política colocavam em dúvida a capacidade do liberalismo em administrar as drásticas transformações que resultavam da crescente industrialização e do conseqüente crescimento dos centros urbanos. O surgimento de regimes autoritários em todo mundo no início do século XX encontrou reflexos no Brasil, onde a revolução de 1930 trouxe promessas de progresso e de prosperidade sob a liderança de Getúlio Vargas. Utilizando-se de uma grande estrutura para o controle dos meios de comunicação, foi possível ao regime o estabelecimento de diferentes canais de comunicação com as massas, com o propósito de justificar a presença de seu grupo no poder e disseminar sua ideologia. Dentre as alternativas utilizadas pelo Estado Novo, foram escolhidas as imagens produzidas pelo Departamento de Imprensa e Propaganda disponibilizadas em publicações coordenadas pelo órgão. Através desse recorte, a pesquisa procurou estabelecer as relações existentes entre o discurso oficial do regime e as imagens produzidas pelo DIP dentro do sistema de difusão de informação do regime estadonovista. / [en] The present research starts from the study of images produced by the brazilian Estado Novo with the purpose of identifying the visual elements used as tools for diffusion of the regime ideology. Since the second half of the nineteenth century, new models of political and social organizations put in doubt the capacity of liberalism to manage the drastic transformations resultants of the growing industrialization and the consequent growth of urban centers. The emerging of authoritarian regimes all over the world in the beginning of the twentieth century found reflexes in Brazil, where the 1930 revolution brought promises of progress and prosperity under the leadership of Getúlio Vargas. By using a huge structure for the control of medias, it was possible for the regime the establishment of different ways of communication with the masses, with the intention of justifying the presence of their group in power and to spread their ideology. Among all the alternatives used by the Estado Novo, images produced by the Department of Press and Propaganda (DIP) and available in publications co-ordinated by the agency were chosen. Through this focus, the research managed to establish the existing relations between the official regime speech and the images produced by DIP inside the system of information diffusion of the Estado Novo.
