<p><strong>Syfte:</strong> Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur ett åkeriföretag använder sig av nyckeltal i verksamhetsstyrningen samt utveckla nya tänkbara nyckeltal för att effektivisera verksamhetsstyrningen.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Metod: </strong>I vår fallstudie har vi har valt oss att använda den kvalitativa metoden.  Tillvägagångssättet bygger på den hermeneutiska tolkningen. Underlaget till fallstudien har samlats in genom intervjuer med Gävle fjärrfrakts ekonomiansvarig. Information har även samlats in från litteratur som sedan har sammankopplats med den empiriska undersökningen som ligger till grund för vår analys.  </p><p> </p><p><strong>Resultat & Slutsats: </strong>Ett flertal nyckeltal används hos fallföretaget. Finansiella nyckeltal används i betydligt mindre omfattning än vi förutspått. Istället används egenkomponerade nyckeltal som är anpassade att kontrollera och påverka enskilda delar av verksamheten. De flesta nyckeltalen är inriktade på kostnadskontroll och intäktsmaximering. På senare år har miljöinriktade nyckeltal börjat användas. Svårigheter finns att mäta personaleffektivitet med hjälp av nyckeltal.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Förslag till fortsattforskning:</strong> Det skulle kunna vara att undersöka flera företag inom åkeribranschen och jämföra företagen med varandra eller att jämföra dem med branschen om hur de använder sig av nyckeltal och försöka utarbeta interna standardnyckeltal för företag i åkeribranschen.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Uppsatsen bidrag: </strong>Vår förhoppning är att fallföretaget har nytta av vår studie i sitt fortsatta arbete med nyckeltal i verksamhetsstyrningen. There are difficulties measuring employee efficiency with the help of key figures.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Suggestions for future research:</strong> Could be to do research on more companies in this business sector and comparing them either to each other or comparing them with the business sector in regards to how they use key figures and try to develop a standardised set of key figures for companies in this line of business.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Contribution of the thesis:</strong> Our ambition is that the company in question will find use in our study when continuously using key figures as a mean to manage their organisation.</p>
