Pilná, Barbora January 2014 (has links)
The term crisis of journalism is widely discussed nowadays. This paper examines whether journalism is in crisis, or whether it is a development caused by changes in the digital world. It also examines possible causes of this crisis and transformation in the digital world. One of the main causes of this is a perceived loss of credibility of the information given to the public. Therefore, there is a deeper interpretation of what trust and trustworthiness is and what can dis/trust cause in the society. In the context of the changes which journalism faces today, it describes the transformation of the role of the audience to active self-editor and outlines how the audience must orientate in the news itself. Otherwise, the media focused on earnings will continue to thrive on sensationalism and moral panics that will negatively effect social reality. In the empirical part this paper deals with the case of Břeclav in 2012, which is an exemplary example of moral panic with consequences.

Other new incentives also appear on the market. Similarly to the situation abroad, the NGO sector is able to provide quality content on issues of its interest. Social innovation is rather a buzzword in the country, yet the author identifies a couple of efforts in the online written media. The author also suggests there might even be a niche for a social enterprise in the area to cooperate with the NGO sector and blogosphere. Keywords creative destruction, disruptive innovation, social entrepreneurship, social innovation, Czech Republic, print media online, watchdog journalism Abstrakt Tato případová studie nahlíží teoretickou optikou kreativní destrukce dle Josepha Aloise Schumpetera a rozkladných technologií dle Claytona Christensena prostředí digitálních podob současného českého tisku. Písačková, Kateřina January 2017 (has links)
This master thesis deals with the phenomenon of journals published by local municipalities, defined in a recent amendment to the Press Act in the legal order of the Czech Republic as "journals of territorial administrative units". According to the press law the purpose of these journals is to deliver information about the self- governing unit while providing adequate space for presenting opinions and views of all ideological spectrum of the local council. These journals were recently criticized for being abused by the ruling political representation and being misused as a form of political PR rather than an independent news platform. My research is focused on their gradual professionalization that was recently encouraged by the changes in the Czech law. The research is based on a survey of editors of these journals. In the survey I investigated the background of the content production of these journals, various aspects of their organization, details about staff editors and their reflection on the topic, as well as control mechanisms that are set to ensure the statutory requirements of objectivity and impartiality. In addition to the survey, I also present a brief case study of the Hobulet magazine, published in the Prague 7 district, which is considered to be a progressive example of the genre. The...
