Data Bricks Space Mission : Supporting Teachers for Children's Data Literacy in Primary Schools through Data PhysicalizationAmbrosini, Lorenzo January 2022 (has links)
This thesis presents "Data bricks space mission" a toolkit for children that allows them to gather a dataset of information in an engaging and interesting way. The kit is made up of elements that give the opportunity of a first approach to the data physicalization process, breaking down barriers related to knowledge and experience in the field. The experience is completed by a guided activity that, through a role play, inserts the the-me of the data collection in the school curriculum. The study is based on the analysis of similar previous examples and the collection of information through interviews with instructors who work daily with children. Based on the insights of those theoretical and empirical foundations, a possible solution is presented that addresses the research questions. /
Examensarbetet är utfört vid Institutionen för teknik och naturvetenskap (ITN) vid Tekniska fakulteten, Linköpings universitet

An Exploration of the Masonry WallWirth, John Michael 12 December 2011 (has links)
The teaching of the user through the clear understanding of the building they encounter on a daily basis is the intent of this thesis. Can a user learn how a brick wall is constructed, by looking and interacting with the brick wall they sleep within at night? Is it easier for one to understand his/her built environment if the construction is done in a manner that makes the means transparent, versus hidden tricks within the materials. Through the study of honest and truthful use of materials and construction methods, this project explores if a building can teach. / Master of Architecture

Architect / Builder: Builder / ArchitectWhite, John Philip Jr. 02 March 2004 (has links)
Throughout architectural history, the relationship between builder and architect has been ever-changing. Architects traditionally evolved from the building trades with a fundamental understanding of the principals behind construction. Architects have since evolved into a profession based in academics, not in actual tacit knowledge. The current relationship between architects and builders is complex. The Architect questions the ability of the builder. The builder questions the knowledge of the architect. Collaboration has become very difficult. These buildings are an attempt to use the built environment as a tool for both the architect and builder to gain a better understanding of what the other does. / Master of Architecture
