蔡元培與近代中國啟蒙運動

蔡元培為民國以來最負盛名的教育家，亦為近代中國學術思想之重鎮。先生早年遵 循傳統士子之途徑，屢獲功名，曾任翰林院編修。甲午戰後，先生深受中國戰敗之 刺激，委身教育與革命運動，並吸取西方新思想，致力於中國啟蒙運動。 本篇論文首先探討清朝中葉，中國接觸西方後，所產生的應變措施，由中央而地方 ，終至開民智運動的興起。先生早年雖接受傳統教育，然早有啟蒙思想，且能付諸 實際行動，堅持啟蒙信念。教育總長時代，即己揭櫫其新教育之意見。尤以出長北 京大學，自由學風頓成各方注目焦點，影響所及，不僅北方諸省，全國亦為之震動 ，乃普遍接受自由、民主、科學之觀念，唾棄不合時宜的陳腐思想與官僚政治，完 成國家統一。論文即以全國統一後，啟蒙運動基於訓政時期三民主義之宗旨，繼續 推動，而告一段落。
