The aim of this study was to cross-cultural adaptation of the questionnaire for the Assessment of Attitudes of Parents in Relation to Oral Health of Children and then use the adapted questionnaire to assess parental attitudes regarding oral health of children in a group of parents with children 7-12 years of age enrolled in primary education in municipal schools in San Carlos - SP. Thus, it was divided into three chapters, the first being a review of literature on the subject, pointing out the issues involved in giving care, as well as its importance and influence in the formation, development and behavior in child health, with emphasis on oral health care and nutrition. In the second chapter was the adaptation to Portuguese of the Questionnaire for Evaluation of Attitudes of Parents in Relation to Oral Health of Children. Held face validity and 11 items were reworded and validation of content where there is misunderstanding index below 20%. We estimated the reliability of the instrument. To check the internal consistency of 110 parents of children 7-12 years of age enrolled in primary schools of São Carlos - SP responded to the questionnaire, the Cronbach's alpha was adequate for three of the four proposed dimensions. To estimate the reproducibility 79 parents completed the questionnaire at two different times and the kappa statistic was estimated. There was adequate reproducibility for all items, except for the question relating to adding sugar to juice or milk. The cultural adaptation process resulted in an easy to understand tool, presenting cultural and idiomatic equivalence that is applicable to people using the Portuguese language. Chapter 3 was conducted to evaluate the attitudes of parents regarding the oral health of children. Study participants were 412 parents of children enrolled in elementary schools of São Carlos - SP who responded... (Complete abstract click electronic access below)

Household dust and respiratory allergy : a study of household dust exposure and respiratory allergy in UK householdsBrown, C. W. January 2000 (has links)
This thesis is designed to explore the hypothesis that settled dust in a domestic environment can contain significant levels of allergens and that common cleaning methods employed to remove dust can result in sufficient airborne exposure to potentially trigger an allergic reaction. Qualitative feedback from respondents in studies of furniture dusting habits indicated that household furniture dusting could elicit an allergic response. A consumer questionnaire was fielded to confirm the problem and it's magnitude. This indicated that it affected approximately 20% of allergy sufferers (or approximately 5% of the total UK population). Further work was performed to estimate the level of allergen exposure during dusting. Additional consumer research was fielded to ascertain the surface area being dusted, (approximately 54000cm2 for frequently dusted areas and 10000cm2 for frequently dusted areas). Domestic dusting habits were probed for the relative frequency of dusting method, which split evenly between dry dusting, wet dusting with water and wet dusting with a furniture polish. Surface sampling techniques were adapted to make in-home measurements of the rate of dust settling which was found to be approximately 3.19x10 -7 g.cm-2,day-1. In-home sampling was also undertaken to measure the mean allergen content of surface dust for major allergens, yielding 24667ng.g-1 combined dust mite, 47696ng.g-1 Fel d 1 and approximately 126 8 08ng.g-1 Can f 1. Laboratory-based studies determined the relative amount of dust rendered airborne during dusting of different furniture surface types and comparing different cleaning methods. This was found to be between 2.3- 43.0%. From these experiments, a model "average" home was constructed and used to estimate the exposure towards dust allergens during a typical dusting task. Exposure was estimated to be as much as 16500ng total dust mite, 124000 mug (31000 mU) cat allergen and 275000 ng (IU) dog allergen per dusting method. These results indicated that allergen exposure, under certain circumstances, could exceed the threshold levels that have been proposed for the onset of sensitisation.

Analýza pitného režimu studentů Vysoké školy ekonomické / The drinking regime of students selected faculties of Economics.HRUBÝ, Radek January 2015 (has links)
In my thesis I deal with students drinking regime of University of Economics. In the theoretical part was literature review available literature related to the topic. I caught the theme from different perspectives. First I dealt with the question of how the human body manages water, in the second part I focused on various kinds of drinks from the perspective of their suitability or unsuitability of involvement in drinking regime. In the third (research) part I focused on what is the generic composition of beverages involved in drinking mode, the volume of ingested fluid, the timing of income, the environment, the manner in which it is implemented drinking regimen University of Economics. In the practical part of the research methodology is described. I chose the questionnaire method, which was used for respondents University of Economics. I used a questionnaire of our own design.

Behavioural and cellular basis of the vulnerability to develop compulsive heroin seeking habitsFouyssac, Maxime January 2017 (has links)
Addiction is a chronic relapsing disorder for which there is no effective treatment. This may reflect our lack of understanding of the psychological and neural mechanisms that support the transition, in vulnerable individuals, from recreational drug use to compulsive drug seeking habits. Over the last decade clinical and preclinical studies have begun to shed light on the psychological and neural basis of the individual vulnerability to cocaine addiction, but despite the epidemic in opiates addiction in the USA and incremental opioid drug abuse and addiction in the UK, heroin addiction has hitherto been under-investigated. Using a novel preclinical model of compulsive heroin seeking behaviour in which some rats self-administering heroin persist in responding under a second-order schedule of reinforcement despite punishment (Chapter 3), the experiments in this thesis investigated the psychological, behavioural, neural and cellular mechanisms involved in the vulnerability to develop compulsive heroin seeking. Chapter 4 aimed to identify behavioural traits, such as anxiety, stress reactivity or decision making, that predict an increased vulnerability to develop compulsive heroin seeking. Chapter 5 aimed to characterise the neural and cellular correlates of heroin seeking habits, and compulsivity. Based on the combination of hotspot analysis, quantitative PCR, RNAscope and western-blot analyses, the data presented demonstrate that compulsive habits are associated with a differential pattern of cellular plasticity within corticostriatal networks, and are preceded by diverse cellular adaptations, especially in the striatum, in vulnerable individuals. Finally, chapter 6 further investigated the cellular specificity of the observed adaptations in experiments that revealed exposure to heroin and cocaine, triggers a downregulation of the dopamine transporter preferentially in astrocytes, and not in neurons as previously thought. The results presented in this thesis offer new insights into the neural and cellular basis of the vulnerability to develop compulsive heroin seeking, a key feature of opioid addiction.

Anatomia dos órgãos vegetativos de representantes brasileiros de Zygopetalinae (Orchidaceae) e sua relação com a taxonomia da subtribo /Moraes, Cristiano Pedroso de. January 2011 (has links)
The Orchidaceae, easily recognized by the modified aspect of their flowers, comprises more than 20,000 cosmopolitan species distributed in five subfamilies. The Zygopetalinae subtribe is a typically neotropical group included in the Epidendroideae subfamily and comprises around 30 genera and 418 species of varied vegetative habit. Aiming to complement the information about the structure of the vegetative organs of the representatives of this subtribe, the anatomy of roots, stems and leaves of some Brazilian taxa, may of them of uncertain and little known taxonomic position under the anatomical point of view, were studied. Comparing the results obtained with the ones described for the other representatives of the same subtribe, an anatomical uniformity among the organs of the Brazilian species and the ones previously studied was observed corroborating the inclusion of Zygopetalinae in the Cymbidieae monofiletic tribe. It was also observed an uniformity in the anatomical characteristics, within the genera, indicating that many aspects can be useful in the systematic analysis of the subtribe / Orientador: Maria das Graças Sajo / Coorientador: Fábio de Barros / Banca: Neuza Maria de Castro / Banca: Tatiane Maria Rodrigues / Banca: Adelita Aparecida Sartori Paoli / Banca: Sandra Maria Carmello Guerreiro / Doutor
