Investigate how the poetic discourse by Barros builds the reception of his texts is a contribution to the field of Brazilian studies of contemporary poetry and it is in search s line "Poetics of Modernity". At first this research is based on the concept of reader as a textual construction from the theory of Model-Reader by Umberto Eco. Then it is considered the role of poetry is communication, according to theoretical assumption by Michael Hamburger, because the poetry communicates the art and the man. Eventually this research discusses the eroticism related to poetic creation, essentially based on meanings of eroticism by Octavio Paz as body poetic as verbal eroticism. Considering this theoretical support and others citations in analysis of selected poems, we can identify in poetry by Manoel de Barros, for example, the performative act in the metalinguistic discourse, the invention of a lyrical subject as poet, the indication of an interlocutor in the text, the memory of reading, the experience lived, the use of irony as paradox and the eroticism. The results confirm that the emphasis on reading is a key element in poetic construction by Barros. This writer modernizes and renews the modern experience of poetry because he communicates the historical experience in order to organize and master his poetic materials. When Barros makes poetry, he makes the subject and the reader, he shares his poetic values with the reader, he incentives the reader to think about itself and the world, he offers his greatest contribution, which is the appreciation of poetry, and he invites the necessary humanity of the man. / Este trabalho estuda a obra do poeta Manoel de Barros, publicada entre os anos de 1937 e 2008, para conhecer e detalhar os procedimentos que delineiam o lugar do leitor e que favorecem a legibilidade dos seus poemas. Investigar como o discurso poético barriano constrói a recepção de seus textos é uma contribuição para os estudos de poesia lírica brasileira contemporânea e se insere na linha de pesquisa Poéticas da Modernidade . Essa investigação, primeiramente, apóia-se no conceito de leitor como uma construção textual a partir da teoria do Leitor-Modelo de Umberto Eco. Depois, considera o pressuposto teórico de Michael Hamburger que atribui à poesia a função de comunicabilidade, visto que esta comunica tanto a arte quanto o homem. E, por fim, discute o erotismo relacionado à criação poética, de acordo, sobretudo, com as acepções de erotismo como poética corporal e de poesia como erótica verbal, ambas oferecidas por Octavio Paz. A partir desse referencial teóricometodológico e de outros autores citados nas análises dos poemas selecionados, é possível identificar na poesia barriana, por exemplo, o ato performativo no discurso autorreflexivo, a criação de um sujeito lírico-poeta, a marcação de interlocutor no texto, a memória do lido, a experiência do vivido, o uso de ironia como paradoxo, o erotismo na poesia e o erotismo da poesia. Os resultados confirmam que a ênfase na leitura é um elemento fundamental na construção poética realizada por Barros. Este escritor atualiza e renova a experiência moderna de poesia, uma vez que comunica a experiência histórica daquele que pretende organizar e dominar seus materiais poéticos e, ao fazer sua poesia, faz o sujeito e faz o leitor. A arte barriana compartilha seus valores poéticos com o leitor, motivando este a pensar sobre si mesmo e, consequentemente, a pensar sobre o mundo, oferece-lhe sua maior contribuição, que é a valorização da poesia, e, assim, convoca a necessária humanização do homem.
