Relationship Between Quality Of Life And Happiness In Turkey

Cakiroglu, Aylin 01 May 2007 (has links) (PDF)
This study aimed to reveal the relationship between quality of life and happiness in a comparative manner, to underline the importance of happiness and enable researchers to familiarize themselves with happiness in the sociological context of Turkey. Quality of life and happiness, which are multidimensional and interdisciplinary concepts, were firstly identified by looking at their treatment in different approaches. Then, they were analyzed by relating them to different variables in the European Quality of Life Survey (EQLS) data which allows for making comparisons among European Union countries and Turkey. Our study is limited to four countries, namely Bulgaria, Denmark, Hungary and Turkey that were selected on the basis of two criteria / their average of happiness score and their membership status in the European Union. On the other hand, the independent variables of the study are &ldquo / having&rdquo / (material living conditions), &ldquo / loving&rdquo / (social relations), &ldquo / being&rdquo / (quality of society), &ldquo / time pressure&rdquo / (work-life balance), &ldquo / alienation&rdquo / , &ldquo / environment&rdquo / , internet using, health and socio-demographic variables namely gender, age, region, employment status and educational level. Consequently, improving quality of life resulted in happiness. In other words, the main aim of improving quality of life is to supply, improve and increase happiness.

Assessment Of Reservoir Rock And Fluid Data For Black Oil Simulation

Susuz, Onur 01 February 2010 (has links) (PDF)
Reservoir simulation studies are one of the key tools in an integrated reservoir management study. A successful reservoir simulation application requires representative input data for reservoir rock and fluid properties. This study aims to develop a road map from laboratory measurements to the input data file of reservoir simulation and to make a probabilistic approach for the estimation of unknown parameters. Raw data of reservoir rock and fluid properties of a selected oil field of Turkey will be interpreted and prepared in a way that they will be used as input data of a simulator.

Optimization Of Regeneration And Agrobacterium Mediated Transformation Of Wheat (triticum Aestivum L.cv. Yuregir 89)

Demirbas, Didem 01 October 2004 (has links) (PDF)
The objective of this study was to optimize regeneration parameters of immature inflorescence culture of Triticum aestivum cv. Y&uuml / regir-89. The effects of dark incubation period and explant region on regeneration success were tested. Immature inflorescences were cut into 3 pieces as tip, mid, base and put onto 2mg /L 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid containing callus induction medium. These explants were taken to regeneration after 6, 9, 13 weeks of dark incubation period. The regeneration capacities of calli were determined as rooting and shooting percentages. Shooting percentages were found to be 72.0 % for 6 weeks of dark incubation and 64.1 % for 9 weeks of dark incubation while it decreases to 26.1 % in 13 weeks of dark incubation period. This showed that prolonged dark incubation period decreased regeneration capacity of the callus. There was no significant difference in regeneration capacities of tip, mid and base regions of immature inflorescences, which reveals the potential of every region of inflorescence to be used as explant source in further transformation studies. Besides regeneration studies, optimization of transformation parameters for Turkish wheat cultivar Y&uuml / regir by using Agrobacterium tumefaciens AGLI containing binary vector pALl56 was performed. Transformation efficiencies were determined by monitoring the transient expression of uidA gene via histochemical GUS assay. Three to four weeks old calli were found to be more responsive to Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. Different media were tested for utilization during co-cultivation period. It was found that including phenolic compound acetosyringone along with ascorbic acid as an antioxidant was essential for succesful transformation.

Estimates Of Demand Relationships For Figs And Figs Products In Turkey

Eriten, Alper 01 December 2005 (has links) (PDF)
This dissertation measures the extent of relationship between production, processing and marketing channels of fig products in Turkey for the period 1971-2003. We first provide a detailed analysis of world and Turkish fig products market. We then estimate the own price and cross price elasticities of fig products in Turkey by using simultaneous systems. The results imply that the demand facing Turkish dried fig processors is inelastic. Moreover also the producer-level dried fig price elasticity has inelastic structure. The study also finds evidence of a complementary structure between fig products apart from fresh fig.

A estratégia política no principado romano do séc. II D.C.

Leme, André Luiz 20 June 2011 (has links)

Physiological And Biochemical Screening Of Different Turkish Lentil Cultivars Under Salt Stress Conditions

Kose, Fatma Selin 01 September 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Salinity is the 2nd major limiting abiotic factor on plant growth. As a result of this, soil salinity greatly reduce the yield of the crop production by dual action on plants which are ionic toxicity and water deficit. Therefore, improvement of stress tolerance is greatly concerned. This study was performed to screen and select a salt-resistant and a salt-sensitive cultivar among 6 Turkish lentil cultivars (Lens culinaris M.) which are &Ccedil / agil, &Ccedil / ift&ccedil / i, Kafkas, Malazgirt, Seyran and &Ouml / zbek according to the physiological and biochemical properties. 12 days old lentil seedlings which were exposed to salt stress (100 mM NaCl and 150 mM NaCl) for 5 days as well as control groups analyzed physiologically by root-shoot fresh weights, and lengths / and biochemically by ion leakage, MDA, H

Encountering With The Real: A Critical Reading Of The Works Of Lacan, Laclau, Zizek And Badiou

Yazici, Savas 01 October 2007 (has links) (PDF)
Lacan is an influential figure of 20th Century thought. Being a psychoanalyst, a linguist and at the same time a philosopher, in his theory he combines all three of these disciplines. Even in his later works, he tried to combine his theory with mathematical formalization. His theory influenced three important political thinkers: Laclau, &amp / #381 / i&amp / #382 / ek and Badiou. The purpose of this dissertation is mainly to examine Lacan&rsquo / s thought and its impasses which could be found especially in the political applications of his theory. First I start with a critical reading of Lacan&rsquo / s own works. I try to figure out the idealizations, presuppositions and blind spots hidden in his work. I develop my critical reading by focusing on the works of Laclau, &amp / #381 / i&amp / #382 / ek and Badiou. The main argument of this dissertation is, such a critical reading of these philosophers will lead us to a general questioning of Lacan&rsquo / s theory and the legitimacy of its applications. Lacan&rsquo / s use of the impossibility as a founding principle and his passion for formalization cause several idealizations, like the idealization of the neutrality of the signifier, the idealization of the non-represented and so on. These problems are extended and transformed into other ones in his disciples&rsquo / works. For Laclau, the problem is transformed into a purely content-free understanding of elements of democracy which ends up with paradoxical results. For &amp / #381 / i&amp / #382 / ek and Badiou, because of their insistence on a political theory based on the impossible real, their subversive theories end up with a theory which take the form of messianic discourses. What I propose is a reconsideration of the role of the theory on the understanding of human reality: in principle every theory excludes some portions of the richness of human life-world, therefore every theory must have a retrospective and critical stance against its own founding principles. This cannot be done by formalized theories which keep the formal structure of itself untouchable.

User Experience In Public Products: The Effects Of Presence Of Other People

Gunay, Asli 01 September 2011 (has links) (PDF)
User experience with public products needs special attention considering the specific context. Different from other consumer or personal products that users own, public products do not belong to the user / they are shared with and used in front of other people. Thus, different concerns and problems are incorporated affecting the user experiences. This thesis dwells on the effects of presence of other people on user-public product interaction. The relationships between social context, users&rsquo / feelings, and task performances constitute the basis of the thesis. These relationships were investigated by consulting to the literature, but mainly by conducting three empirical studies. All these studies revealed that the presence of other people affects the users&rsquo / feelings and task performances greatly.
