The present dissertation aims to analyze the legal and administrative processes that based the action of the State of Pernambuco Government on the expropriation of the allotment São Francisco, in the city of Camaragibe-PE, because of the constructions for the Fifa World Cup 2014. It is intended to show the contradictions during this process and identify possible violations to the rights of the citizens. Through the analysis of the context of the realization of this type of event, the (re)production of the urban space and the right to adequate housing, it was presented the relations between the logic of the hegemonic market and the State's models of legality, produced in the contemporary capitalist system. Based in Agrosino (2009), we made a great descriptive and exploratory research, in a qualitative way, using the method pf participating observation, that involves the immersion in the search object, documental research and analysis of the results. This analysis revealed a series of political and legal inconsistencies on the indiscriminate use of the Law of Expropriation for Public Utility (Decreto-lei no. 3.365/1941), during the mega event, disregarding the laws that protects the right to housing for the expropriated families.

Looking a Gift Horse in the Mouth: 2014 Farm Bill Insect and Disease Restoration Provision -- True Gift or False Hope?Holmstead, Jamilee E. 01 May 2015 (has links)
Congress passed a revised Farm Bill in 2014 that amended the Healthy Forest Restoration Act (HFRA) to, hopefully, increase the speed with which natural resource issues could be addressed. Federal land management has often been condemned for being time-consuming and burdensome, chiefly in situations that require rapid response, such as insect disease and fire. The amendment in the 2014 Farm Bill is meant to address this concern. The amendment would allow for the insect and disease restoration projects on U.S.D.A. Forest Service land to fall under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) as categorical exclusions, provided that collaboration occurs while creating and implementing the projects. This new provision could allow for the U.S.D.A. Forest service to create and implement restoration projects at a faster rate than ever before. Each state's Governor was required to nominate restoration lands in their National Forests. These Nominations ranged from very comprehensive to extremely ambiguous and from just a few acres to entire national forests. This research documents why there was variation in designation nominations and what potential benefit this new amendment could bring to future natural resource management.

Imaging and analysis of wave type interfacial instability in the coextrusion of low-density polyethylene meltsMartyn, Michael T., Spares, Robert, Coates, Philip D., Zatloukal, M. January 2009 (has links)
No / This report covers experimental studies and numerical modelling of interfacial instability in the bi-layer coextrusion flow of two low-density polyethylene melts. Melt streams are converged at an angle of 30° to a common die land. Melt stream confluence was observed in two coextrusion die arrangements. In one die design, which we term ‘bifurcated’ the melt stream is split by a divider plate in the die after being delivered from a single extruder. In the other design melt streams are delivered to a die from two separate extruders. In each die design melt flow in the confluent region and die land to the die exit was observed through side windows of a visualization cell. Velocity ratios of the two melt streams were varied and layer thickness ratios producing wave type interfacial instability determined for each melt for a variety of flow conditions. Stress and velocity fields in the coextrusion arrangements were quantified using stress birefringence and particle image velocimetry techniques.
Wave type interfacial instability occurred in the processing of the low-density polyethylene melts at specific, repeatable, stream layer ratios. The birefringent pattern in the confluence region and the beginning of the die land appeared stable even when the extrudate exhibited instability. However, disturbances were observed in the flow field near the exit of the die land. The study demonstrates conclusively it is possible for interfacial instability to occur in the coextrusion of the same melt. The study also shows that wave type interfacial instability in the coextrusion process is not caused by process perturbations of extruder screw rotation. Increased melt elasticity appears to promote this type of instability.
A modified Leonov model and Flow 2000™ software was used to simulate the LDPE melt flows through these geometries. There was reasonable agreement between modelled at experimentally determined stress fields. Modelling however provided far more detailed stress gradient information than could be resolved from the optical techniques. A total normal stress difference (TNSD) sign criterion was used to predict the critical layer ratio for the onset of the interfacial instability in one die arrangement and good agreement between theory and experiment has been obtained.

Nouvelle étude de nuages moléculaires à hautes latitudes galactiquesFortier, Pierre 20 April 2018 (has links)
Understanding the processes related to the formation and evolution of molecular clouds is essential to our understanding of the interstellar medium (ISM) at large and of star formation. High galactic latitude clouds are ideal laboratories for studying the physics of the ISM as only turbulence, magnetic fields and the interstellar radiation come into play. Using clues from H2 absorption lines in UV and by comparing dust emissions to HI column density, we have probed the morphology and dynamics of many molecular clouds, in the hopes of identifying regions at different stages of evolution.

A study on the deformation behaviour of the cathode collector bar at high temperature and low levels / Study on the deformation behavior of the cathode collector bar at high temperature and low levelsFakoya, Femi Richard 20 April 2018 (has links)
The study of the deformation behaviour of the collector bar at conditions experienced within the aluminium reduction cell is of great importance to optimizing the efficiency and increasing the life span of the cell. This mémoire communicates the results of an experimental program carried out on the steel collector bar material (AISI 1006) to investigate its behaviour in relation to its thermal, mechanical and the creep properties. Tests were carried out in compression at low stresses, 0.5 to 2 MPa and high temperature, 900 °C. Different behaviour was observed at low stresses up to 2 MPa, which can be characterised by time and applied stress level. Metallographic inspection showed effect of oxidation and corrosion on tested samples due to the aggressive environment of the test condition, major efforts and modification were made to eradicate this effect and to improve the accuracy of obtained creep test data.

The Design of a Resistively Loaded Bowtie Antenna for Applications in Breast Cancer Detection SystemsSee, Chan H., Abd-Alhameed, Raed, Chung, Siau Wei Jonis, Zhou, Dawei, Al-Ahmad, Hussain, Excell, Peter S. January 2012 (has links)
A resistively loaded bowtie antenna, intended for applications in breast cancer detection, is adaptively modified through modelling and genetic optimization. The required wideband operating characteristic is achieved through manipulation of the resistive loading of the antenna structure, the number of wires, and their angular separation within the equivalent wire assembly. The results show an acceptable impedance bandwidth of 100.75%, with a challenge VSWR <; 2, over the interval from 3.3 GHz to 10.0 GHz. Feasibility studies were made on the antenna sensitivity for operation in a tissue-equivalent dielectric medium. The simulated and measured results are all in close agreement.

Social Work, Religion and Belief: Developing a Framework for PracticeFurness, Sheila M., Gilligan, Philip A. January 2010 (has links)
No / This article explores the need for a framework that will assist social workers to identify when religion and belief are significant in the lives and circumstances of service users and how to take sufficient account of these issues in specific pieces of practice. It outlines the Furness / Gilligan framework and suggests that such frameworks should be used as a part of any assessment, while also being potentially useful at all stages of intervention. It reports on feedback gathered by the authors from first and final MA Social Work students who were asked to pilot the framework. It analyses their responses, in the context of national and international literature. It concludes that such a framework provides the necessary structure and challenge to assist social workers in acknowledging and engaging with issues arising from religion and belief that otherwise may remain overlooked, ignored or avoided, regardless of how significant they are to service users.
