Gagnon-Grégoire, Catherine 20 April 2018 (has links)
People with mental illness frequently have difficulty integrating into the employment market (MESS, 2008). They have the single highest unemployment rates among all groups of people with disabilities (NAMI, 2011). Objective: This study aims to increase our understanding of the integration of people with mental illness into employment by interviewing people who benefitted from “ÉquiTravail” employment services. Methodology: This qualitative study is based on seven interviews with workers suffering from mental illness. An “ÉquiTravail” staff-member was also interviewed. The conceptual framework is the strength based model of Rapp and Goscha (2012). Results: The results were categorized into five themes: the motivation to work, the elements that affected them when obtaining a job, the factors that influence maintaining their employment, the work integration services and their level of social functioning.

Tremblay-Roy, Julie 20 April 2018 (has links)

Pillaca Esquivel, Jaime 07 March 2016 (has links)

Shack Muro, Jorge Ricardo 09 March 2016 (has links)
Tesis

Specifically, I want to understand how in 2014, military police used their experiences in the police to consolidate a political capital able to secure the support of the vote to a legislative Ceará. In seeking to shed light on this period, you can see that the "political time", a time when the social coercion is eminently emblematic for voters to be revealed from the membership by voting to any of the factions in dispute, the state of Ceará shown a space full of social conflict. Among most candidates, these disputes are inserted into the charges pronounced in soapbox about the reputation of other candidates for the post. It is important to note that these events represent the way the campaign strategies in this "space policy" are built. Thus, to understand the strategies used for achieving the accession of the vote by police in the electoral period, the study monitored the daily lives of some of the military candidates to the legislature, especially Captain Wagner Sousa, Colonel Francisco Bezerra and cable Flávio Sabino, with interviews of applicants, advisors and members of the police associations, in order to understand how these have developed strategies for the achievement of the membership vote on their campaigns.

Ouellet, Caroline 20 April 2018 (has links)
Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by excessive worry. The Intolerance of Uncertainty Model (IUM) and the Emotion Dysregulation Model (EDM) are both well established models of GAD. The thesis is made of two articles which investigate relationships between IUM, EDM and worry in non clinical samples. The first article studied the independent and overlapping contribution of IUM and EDM to prediction of worry as well as relationships between the two models. Four hundred and fifty French adult speakers completed self-reported measures of IUM, EDM and worry. Simple correlations and linear regressions were conducted. Results showed that each model accounted for unique variance to prediction of worry. They also revealed that IUM’s contribution was stronger than EDM’s. Among processes of IUM and EDM, negative problem orientation, intolerance of uncertainty and maladaptive emotional management responses were the strongest predictors of worry. Analyses revealed that these processes are highly correlated between each other. The second article introduced and tested a new GAD model which integrates maladaptive emotional management responses in IUM. This model suggests that intolerance of uncertainty contributes to a negative orientation which influences ineffective reactions about both problems and emotions. Negative emotion orientation could explain the use of maladaptive emotion regulation strategies in GAD. Two hundred and four French adult speakers completed self-reported measures of IUM, limited access to emotion regulation strategies and worry. Analyses confirmed that limited access to emotion regulation strategies partially mediate the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and worry. A structural equation model, which integrates the double role of negative orientation, was tested and compared with an alternative model. Fit of proposed model was excellent and superior of alternative model’s fit. Results support our new GAD conceptualization. Theoretical and clinical implications of these two articles are discussed in the thesis. Keywords : Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Worry, Intolerance of Uncertainty, Emotion Dysregulation

Employing a novel bioelastomer to toughen polylactide

Kang, H., Qiao, B., Wang, R., Wang, Z., Zhang, L., Ma, J., Coates, Philip D. 28 February 2013 (has links)
Biodegradable, biocompatible polylactide (PLA) synthesized from renewable resources has attracted extensive interests over the past decades and holds great potential to replace many petroleum-derived plastics. With no loss of biodegradability and biocompatibility, we highly toughened PLA using a novel bioelastomer (BE)–synthesized from biomass diols and diacids. Although PLA and BE are immiscible, BE particles of ∼1 μm in diameter are uniformly dispersed in the matrix, and this indicates some compatibility between PLA and BE. BE significantly increased the cold crystallization ability of PLA, which was valuable for practical processing and performance. SEM micrographs of fracture surface showed a brittle-to-ductile transition owing to addition of BE. At 11.5 vol%, notched Izod impact strength improved from 2.4 to 10.3 kJ/m2, 330% increment; the increase is superior to previous toughening effect by using petroleum-based tougheners.

Making Asset Investment Decisions for Wastewater Systems That Include Sustainability

Ashley, R.M., Blackwood, D., Butler, D., Jowitt, P., Davies, J., Smith, H., Gilmour, D., Oltean-Dumbrava, Crina 01 March 2008 (has links)
No / Effective integrated water management is a key component of the World Water Vision and the way in which aspirations for water equity may be realized. Part of the vision includes the promotion of sustainability of water systems and full accountability for their interaction with other urban systems. One major problem is that “sustainability” remains an elusive concept, although those involved with the provision of urban wastewater systems now recognize that decisions involving asset investment should use the “triple bottom line” approach to society, the economy, and the environment. The Sustainable Water Industry Asset Resource Decisions project has devised a flexible and adaptable framework of decision support processes that can be used to include the principles of sustainability more effectively. Decision mapping conducted at the outset of the project has shown that only a narrow range of criteria currently influence the outcome of asset investment decisions. This paper addresses the concepts of sustainability assessment and presents two case studies that illustrate how multicriteria decision support systems can enhance the assessment of the relative sustainability of a range of options when decisions are being made about wastewater asset investment.
