A Critical Examination of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association's Ministry of Equipping Evangelists Via the Amsterdam Conferences

Bohannon, Brian David 22 September 2017 (has links)
ABSTRACT A CRITICAL EXAMINATION OF THE BILLY GRAHAM EVANGELISTIC ASSOCIATION’S MINISTRY OF EQUIPPING EVANGELISTS VIA THE AMSTERDAM CONFERENCES Brian David Bohannon, Ph.D. The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, 2017 Chair: Dr. Adam W. Greenway Chapter 1 articulates the research problem and identifies the intent to analyze the three international conferences for itinerant evangelists that the BGEA convened in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The thesis contends that in equipping evangelists via the Amsterdam conferences, the BGEA prioritized the calling of the evangelist and the gospel message, and that this contribution is significant in light of a proclivity to emphasize methods in evangelism. Chapter 2 is a biography of Billy Graham. This biography shows that Billy Graham contributed to world evangelization and demonstrated that one of his contributions to global evangelism is his work of equipping evangelists worldwide. Consequently, the biography prepares the reader for an examination of the BGEA’s ministry of equipping evangelists via the three Amsterdam conferences. Chapter 3 covers Amsterdam ’83 and Amsterdam ’86. Concerning Amsterdam ’83 this chapter evaluates the evangelist’s role as a preacher of the gospel, concentrates on his spiritual walk with God, and analyzes his equipping ministry. Regarding Amsterdam ’86 this chapter investigates the evangelist as a person, the evangelist’s message, and the various methods of evangelism. Chapter 4 covers Amsterdam 2000. This chapter focuses on the following nine themes: the need for Evangelism, the evangelist’s message, the Bible, Christ, the Savior, the mission of the gospel, the Holy Spirit and the evangelist, the evangelist’s personal holiness and spiritual walk God, the church and the evangelist, and the evangelist and the world. Chapter 5 concludes that the entire analysis demonstrates that in equipping evangelists via the Amsterdam conferences Billy Graham prioritized the calling of the evangelist and the gospel message, and that this contribution is significant in light of a proclivity to emphasize methods in evangelism. Finally, the chapter offers suggestions for further research.

ACCESSING THE EXTENT OF POWER OUTAGES USING NIGHTTIME LIGHT

Unknown Date (has links)
Natural disasters often result in large-scale power outages. Real-time tracking of the extent, distribution, and timelines of electrical service loss and recovery can play an important role in minimizing disaster impacts. Using NASA's Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Day/Night Band (DNB), the extent and duration of disrupted electric utility infrastructure in the Florida Panhandle following Hurricane Michael were estimated. The percent loss of electrical service was downscaled to a neighborhood level using the 2013-2017 American Community Survey (ACS) data at the block group level. Two ordinary least square models were estimated to examine the association between socioeconomic characteristics and the extent and duration of the power outages as well as recovery rates. The study found that block groups with higher percent minorities, multi-family housing units, rural areas, and a higher percentage of households receiving public assistance were experiencing slower power restoration rates than urban and more affluent neighborhoods. The findings have implications for disaster preparedness and recovery planning. / Includes bibliography. / Thesis (MURP)--Florida Atlantic University, 2021. / FAU Electronic Theses and Dissertations Collection

”Det är naturens krafter som måste bekämpas” : Diskursanalys av den svenska debatten kring skogsbränderna 2018

Eckert, Viktor January 2019 (has links)

Port of Flanders: Jef Geys and Belgium in the ’70s

Cohen, Lucas January 2020 (has links)
This dissertation considers Jef Geys as an archivist of the cultural shifts of the ’60s and ’70s in Europe amidst the reception of American Pop in Belgium. Between these decades, Geys archived and played back the social and cultural effects of Pop to engage with the newly defined middle class that was constructed to account for and implement changes in both professional and social settings. Geys’s archive was instrumental in his roles as an artist and educator and he used it to reinterpret the implications of Pop. Geys’s consideration of Pop expanded its implications to test Pop’s institutional and social alignments in relation to the question of geography and population.

Bedömning av engelska i ljuset av Betygsutredningens förslag : En kvalitativ studie / Assessment work in the English subject considering ‘Betygsutredningens’ proposal

Beskow, Malin, Bergström, Josefine January 2021 (has links)
The Swedish school system has undergone some major transformations during the last thirty years. Another alteration is currently in the making, suggested by Betygsutredningen 2018, on behalf of the Swedish government, with some of the changes due to come into practice at the start of the 2022 autumn term. The present study aims to examine the underlying motivations to these proposed alterations of the grading system in Sweden by performing a qualitative text analysis on the document Bygga, bedöma, betygsätta – betyg som bättre motsvarar elevernas kunskaper; Betänkande av Betygsutredningen 2018 (SOU 2020:43). Furthermore, the study also aims to explore the attitudes to the proposed alterations among eight English teachers as well as a deputy headmistress at both a Swedish secondary school (högstadiet) and an upper secondary school (gymnasiet), employing semi-structured interviews. It is a qualitative study within the grounded theory framework.  Although the document (SOU 2020:43) takes attitudes regarding the proposals among teachers, students and other concerned parties into account, no individual voices have been cited. By providing individual voices, the present study aims to fill the gap. The findings indicate that the secondary teachers and the headmistress are sceptic about whether the subject grade reform will lead to any concrete changes concerning assessment. Therefore, it is of great importance that this reform includes efforts to establish professional development projects in the form of peer learning amongst teachers focusing on assessment for learning, for this reform to be successful. Such continual assessment discussions amongst teachers can strengthen teachers’ assessment competence, which could help to prevent arbitrariness in grading, an issue that was highlighted by the interviewees with regards to some of the proposed changes.
