This thesis provides a theoretical framework that brings the unity of Kierkegaard’s ‘middle period’ into relief. I will analyse Kierkegaard’s writings between 1846 and 1852 when, I argue, the socially constructive dimension of his thought comes to prominence, involving two dialectical aspects of religiousness identified by Kierkegaard: the edifying and the polemical. How these two aspects come together and get worked out in the lives of individuals form the basis of what can be called a Kierkegaardian ‘social praxis’. I conclude that the tension between the edifying and the polemical can be coherently maintained in a communicative life that is also characteristic of a militant faith. This militant faith and life is presented as a critical guard against absolutisms, fundamentalisms, and intellectual aloofness; but the ‘militant’ individual is also utterly dependent, in need of edification and critique, and therefore chooses the risk of encountering others, seeking relationships out of a commitment to the development of persons and communities in co-operation. Therefore, not only does this dialectic provide readers with an important theoretical framework for understanding Kierkegaard’s ‘middle period’, but it is also a valuable resource for a constructive analysis of active social living suitable for theology in the twenty-first century.

Baigiamajame magistro darbe nagrinėjama automatinės priešakinių veidų segmentacijos skaitmeniniuose vaizduose problematika. Pateikta išsami populiariausių bei su įgyvendinta sistema susijusių veidų segmentacijos metodikų teorinė ir praktinė analizė. Praktiškai įgyvendinta sistema, kuri grindžiama: 1) mokslinės literatūros analizės rezultate išrinkta efektyviausia DAB (Discrete AdaBoost) kaskada; 2) pasiūlytu greituoju simetriniu eksponentiniu glodinančiu filtru; 3) pasiūlytu glodinto vaizdo gradiento krypčių naiviuoju Bajeso klasifikatoriumi. Pastarieji du žingsniai pajungti siekiant pagerinti sistemos lokalizacijos tikslumo įverčius. Realizacijos segmentacijos patikimumas įvertintas naudojant viešai prieinamas veidų segmentacijos (BioID, MIT/CMU) ir veidų atpažinimo (FERET, FRGC) duomenų bazes ir remiantis aiškiai darbe apibrėžtu teisingos ir neteisingos segmentacijos kriterijumi. Atlikta lyginamoji analizė su kitomis metodikomis. Pateiktos gairės sistemos tikslumui ir / arba našumui tobulinti. / This master work presents a research upon the problem of automatic frontal face detection within digital images. A comprehensive theoretical and practical analysis of most widely used also implementation related methods is provided. Practically implemented face detection system that is based on the following algorithms: 1) DAB (Discrete AdaBoost) cascade chosen as the most effective method with reference to scientific literature analysis results; 2) proposed symmetric exponential blurring filter; 3) proposed blurred image gradient directions naïve Bayesian classifier. The latter two steps have been composed to improve face localization precision. Implementation reliability was evaluated on publicly available face detection (BioID, MIT/CMU) and face recognition (FERET, FRGC) databases using explicitly declared detected face accepting / rejecting criteria. A comparative study of the proposed approach has been accomplished. Recommendations for further accuracy and / or speed improving are provided as well.

Data governance frameworks are critical to reducing operational costs and risks in the financial industry. Corporate data managers face challenges when implementing data governance frameworks. The purpose of this multiple case study was to explore the strategies that successful corporate data managers in some banks in the United States used to implement data governance frameworks to reduce operational costs and risks. The participants were 7 corporate data managers from 3 banks in North Carolina and New York. Servant leadership theory provided the conceptual framework for the study. Methodological triangulation involved assessment of nonconfidential bank documentation on the data governance framework, Basel Committee on Banking Supervision's standard 239 compliance documents, and semistructured interview transcripts. Data were analyzed using Yin's 5-step thematic data analysis technique. Five major themes emerged: leadership role in data governance frameworks to reduce risk and cost, data governance strategies and procedures, accuracy and security of data, establishment of a data office, and leadership commitment at the organizational level. The results of the study may lead to positive social change by supporting approaches to help banks maintain reliable and accurate data as well as reduce data breaches and misuse of consumer data. The availability of accurate data may enable corporate bank managers to make informed lending decisions to benefit consumers.

No. of bitstreams: 0 / Este trabalho apresenta um novo método para o cálculo dos coecientes de sensibilidade, através da união do metodo diferencial e da teoria da perturbação generalizada, que são os dois métodos tradicionalmente utilizados em física de reatores para a obtenção de tais grandezas. Esses dois métodos apresentam algumas deciências tornando os cálculos dos coeficientes de sensibilidade lentos ou computacionalmente exaustivos, mas unindo-os e possível eliminar as deciências apresentadas por ambos e obter uma nova equação para o coe- ciente de sensibilidade. O método proposto neste trabalho foi aplicado em um reator do tipo PWR , onde foi feita análise de sensibilidade da produção e da razão de conversão do 239Pu, para um ciclo de 120 dias de queima. O código utilizado para a análise de queima e análise de sensibilidade, o CINEW, foi desenvolvido durante este trabalho e os resultados obtidos foram comparados com os códigos amplamente utilizados em física de reatores, como o CINDER e o SERPENT. As conclusões obtidas foram que o novo método matemático para a obtenção dos coeficientes de sensibilidade e o CINEW, além de fornecer agilidade numérica também presentam eciência e segurança. Pois o novo método matemático para a obtenção dos coeficientes quando comparados com os métodos tradicionais utilizados para a análise de sensibilidade, mostram resultados satisfatórios, mesmo quando o método utiliza aproximações matemáticas que diferem do método proposto, e com a vantagem de não apresentar as deciências apresentadas pelos métodos diferencial e da teoria da perturbação generalizada. As análises de queima obtidas pelo CINEW foram comparadas com o CINDER, que mostraram uma diferença aceitável, apesar do CINDER apresentar alguns problemas computacionais que advém da época em que foi feito.
