This is also true for Brazil. This thesis intends to show ways to minimize the alcohol production costs through energy conservation in its production. It also intends to qualify and, whenever possible, to quantify, with the avaiable data, potential measures to rationalize the use of energy in the alcohol and sugar production, especially in the utilization of steam in the various production stages. The broad, detailed and flexible use of the computer as a fundamental tool in such rationalization is a large difference between this and others works with similar goals.
