Integrability, Measurability, and Summability of Certain Set Functions

Dawson, Dan Paul 12 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the integrability, measurability, and summability of certain set functions. The paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter contains basic definitions and preliminary remarks about set functions and absolute continuity. In Chapter i, the integrability of bounded set functions is investigated. The chapter culminates with a theorem that characterizes the transmission of the integrability of a real function of n bounded set functions. In Chapter III, measurability is defined and a characterization of the transmission of measurability by a function of n variables is provided, In Chapter IV, summability is defined and the summability of set functions is investigated, Included is a characterization of the transmission of summability by a function of n variables.

Analysis of quasiconformal maps in Rn

Purcell, Andrew 01 June 2006 (has links)
In this thesis, we examine quasiconformal mappings in Rn. We begin by proving basic properties of the modulus of curve families. We then give the geometric, analytic, and metric space definitions of quasiconformal maps and show their equivalence. We conclude with several computational examples.

Avanços em dinâmica parcialmente hiperbólica e entropia para sistema iterado de funções / Advances in partially hyperbolic dynamics and entropy for iterated function systems

Micena, Fernando Pereira 15 February 2011 (has links)
In this work we study relations between Lyapunov exponents, absolute continuity of center foliation for conservative partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms of \'T POT. 3\'. About this theme, (on a \'C POT. 1\' open and \'C POT. 2\'dense set) of conservative partially hyperbolic \'C POT. 2\' diffeomorphisms of the 3-torus presents non absolutely continuous center foliation. So, we answer positively a question proposed in [20]. Also in this work, we study topological entropy for Iterated Functions Systems. In this setting, we give a proof for a conjecture proposed in [14] and firstly proved in [15]. We present a geometrical method that allows us to calcule the entropy for transformations of \'S POT. 1\', like in [15]. Furthermore this method holds for more general cases, for example: non commutative transformations

Absolute continuity of the laws, existence and uniqueness of solutions of some SDEs and SPDEs

Yue, Wen January 2014 (has links)
This thesis consists of four parts. In the first part we recall some background theory that will be used throughout the thesis. In the second part, we studied the absolute continuity of the laws of the solutions of some perturbed stochastic differential equaitons(SDEs) and perturbed reflected SDEs using Malliavin calculus. Because the extra terms in the perturbed SDEs involve the maximum of the solution itself, the Malliavin differentiability of the solutions becomes very delicate. In the third part, we studied the absolute continuity of the laws of the solutions of the parabolic stochastic partial differential equations(SPDEs) with two reflecting walls using Malliavin calculus. Our study is based on Yang and Zhang \cite{YZ1}, in which the existence and uniqueness of the solutions of such SPDEs was established. In the fourth part, we gave the existence and uniqueness of the solutions of the elliptic SPDEs with two reflecting walls and general diffusion coefficients.

Dynamics of Systems Driven by an External Force

Liu, Xue 06 April 2021 (has links)
In this dissertation, we study the complicated dynamics of two classes of systems: Anosov systems driven by an external force and partially hyperbolic systems driven by an external force. For smooth Anosov systems driven by an external force, we first study the random specification property, which is on the approximation of an N−spaced arbitrary long finite random orbit segments within given precision by a random periodic point. We prove that if such system is topological mixing on fibers, then it has the random specification property. Furthermore, we prove that the homeomorphism induced by such a system on the space of random probability measures also has the specification property. We note that the random specification property implies the positivity of topological fiber entropy. Secondly, we show that if the system is topological mixing on fibers, then its past and future random correlation for Hölder observable functions decay exponentially with respect to the system and the unique random SRB measure. For smooth partially hyperbolic systems driven by an external force, we prove the existence of the random Gibbs u−state, which has absolutely continuous conditional measure on the strong unstable manifolds.
