  • The Global ETD Search service is a free service for researchers to find electronic theses and dissertations. This service is provided by the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations.
Our metadata is collected from universities around the world. If you manage a university/consortium/country archive and want to be added, details can be found on the NDLTD website.

Efecto de la aplicación de enmiendas orgánicas en un sistema de cosecha de agua con Acacia saligna en laderas degradadas de la Región de Coquimbo / Effect of organic amendments on a water harvesting system with Acacia saligna in degraded hillslopes of the Región de Coquimbo

Navarro Álvarez, Andrés Javier January 2014 (has links)
In order to diversify amendments and nutrient sources for a sustainable management of soil and water, a field experiment was conducted on a hillslope with Acacia saligna plants distributed in 18 stone half-moons amended with goat manure and/or organic emulsion (15 to 30 Mg ha -1 and 100 to 200 L ha -1 , respectively). Changes in the chemical properties of the soil surface were assessed by a preliminary measurement first, another at the moment of application and a third one a year later. The amendments had an impact on the properties, but only pH showed an increasing temporal trend in all the treatments. Electrical conductivity increased mostly in treatments with goat manure, not exceeding 4,0 dS m . Organic matter proved to be erratic, due to the extreme aridity of the zone. In general terms, a temporary increase in available macronutrients and total nitrogen was observed after amendment application, all of which decreased later due to plant uptake. It is concluded that more frequent applications of these amendments are required, and also that commercial application rates are very far from inducing changes in arid zones and in these small engineered areas, so they must be conceptually replaced by reclamation rates, according to the extreme degradation conditions that prevail.
