An agile approach to the rapid and collaborative authoring of educational content

Crawford, Dawn January 2017 (has links)
An agile approach is most often used in software development but has been applied in other areas such as manufacturing and project management as well. Within literature, there are only a few studies that investigate the use of an agile approach for authoring educational content. This study explores how an agile approach could facilitate rapid and collaborative authoring of educational content. This qualitative study utilised a multiple case study strategy. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews and observations. The insight gained from this study indicated that the agile approach that emerged was a valuable lens through which to explore rapid and collaborative authoring of educational content. The study also revealed that community building among those participating in the authoring process is fundamental to the success of an agile approach. Further insights include offering training and support to the participants of the authoring sprints regarding an agile process, the applications utilised and imminent change. An agile approach in education emerged from the study and could be an alternative to traditional content authoring approaches for educational content. Finally, the study revealed the need for a comprehensive software package that included file sharing, instant messaging, task management, screen sharing and conferencing capabilities alongside the authoring software. / Dissertation (MEd)--University of Pretoria, 2017. / Science, Mathematics and Technology Education / MEd / Unrestricted

Agilt ledarskap : Ett sätt att leda en organisation med medarbetaren i centrum / Agile leadership : A way to lead an organization with the employee as the main focus

Fors, Victor, Hillerbratt, Anna, Sandén, Sara January 2017 (has links)
Title: Agile leadership – a way to lead an organization with the employee as the main focus. Authors: Anna Hillerbratt, Victor Fors & Sara Sandén Institution: Linnaeus University, School of Business and Economics. Program: Human Resource Management. Course: Business Administration III – Organization, Supervisor: Olle Duhlin Examiner: Mikael Lundgren Purpose: The purpose of this study is to create an understanding of agile leadership through the interpretation and valuation of organizational behaviors. The purpose is also to understand if and how agile leadership can be applied to organizations regardless of whether or not agile methods are used. The study is interesting for students and leaders, but also individuals who are interested in how leadership can develop in relation to future organizations. Methodology: A case study that adresses agile leadership from an organizational perspective. The study was conducted with a qualitative method and an inductive approach. Conclusions: We have, through previous research, perceived that the focus of the agile methodologies initially was based on the practical application of agile methods and that there was no leadership theory based on the two main purposes of the agile approach. The results of the study is therefore a self-developed VAS-model. The basic principle of the model is: With the employees as the main focus we create an attractive workplace and a profitable organization, an organization that ensures frequent delivery of quality, thus meeting customer needs and being responsive to change. Key words: agile, agile approach, leadership, self-organizing teams, communication, motivation, flexibility.

[en] LEAN COMMUNICATION-CENTERED DESIGN: A LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN PROCESS / [pt] LEAN COMMUNICATION-CENTERED DESIGN: UM PROCESSO LEVE DE DESIGN CENTRADO NA COMUNICAÇÃO

DANIEL VITOR COSTA FERREIRA 11 January 2017 (has links)
[en] Lean Communication-Centered Design (LeanCCD) is a Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) design process, which consists of conducting a workshop, detailing user goals, combining interaction models with paper sketches, and testing them with users, supported by guides and templates. This study adapted the Communication-Centered Design (CCD) and the eXtreme Communication-Centered Design (eXCeeD), other communication-centered design processes grounded on Semiotic Engineering (SemEng). SemEng defines the interaction as a computer-mediated communication process between designers and users. Approaches and processes based on SemEng are not used to directly yield the answer to a problem, but to increase the problem-solver s understanding of the problem itself and the implication it brings about. Process evaluation in a case study, in the industry, proved itself difficult, both in carrying out LeanCCD activities and in the correct application of some techniques and concepts. However, unlike eXCeeD, we were able to observe a systematic use of questions that contributed to designers reflection, aided by the proposed templates and guides.
