Technicko-provozní porovnání letounů pro dopravu aerotaxi / Technical and operational comparison of aerotaxi aircraft

Obuch, Matej January 2010 (has links)
This diploma work deals with Technical and operational comparison of aerotaxi aircraft. I picked out this theme because of SkyService company, which plans to locate upon this form of transportation. In diploma work I attend to basic factors that affect selection of aeronautical technics, also economics and technical calculation

A Heuristic Approach to Solve Air Taxi Scheduling Problem

Chavan, Harish Dnyandeo 09 October 2003 (has links)
All passengers travel at the hour most convenient to them. But it is not always possible to find a flight at the right time to fly them to their destination. In the case where service in any one time period is insufficient to meet air travel demanded, it may be expected that some unfilled demand passengers will either delay their flight or will advance it, thus adding to the effective demand of the adjoining time periods. The obvious alternate means of travel is a rental car. It takes a lot more time than flight, but it is readily available at any given time. This brings us to think of an airline system that will work in a similar fashion; A system that can be named an "Air Taxi System." This would mean a virtual highway in air space leading to a vast network. The network would be served by small aircraft flying from one city to another loading and unloading passengers. Such a large network having dynamic demand will have many issues to resolve before successfully launching a Small Aircraft Transportation System. One of the most important problems to solve is scheduling of aircraft for such a stochastic demand flow. The objective of the research is to study a given set of airports with dynamic demand and known aircraft type. The major task will be to analyze the flow of passengers between each origin-destination pair and then schedule flights. The research will be to develop a schedule for a fixed set of airports with dynamic demand and known type of aircraft. The main objective is to maximize demand satisfaction. The study will also analyze the number of aircraft required for a given set of airports and find a method to schedule them. / Master of Science

The Adoption and Diffusion of the Air Taxi/Air Charter Travel Innovation

Leader, Joseph Paul 01 January 2018 (has links)
The inefficient use and knowledge of direct, on-demand air taxi/air charter flights in the United States was the topic of this dissertation. The general problem studied was the inefficient use of air transportation options by business travelers in the United States. The specific problem was how business travelers in the United States learn of and thereby elect to embrace a newer air travel option. Using Rogers's diffusion of innovations theory as the framework, the dissemination of air travel choices made by business travelers using ImagineAir air taxi service in the United States was explored via a qualitative case study research design methodology. Thirty-five semistructured interviews and matching customer database information provided data for the study, Data were later analyzed for emergent themes and codes using MAXQDA software. Key research questions included communication of the innovation, business travelers' perceptions of the innovation, timeframe of innovation adoption, business environment enabling the innovation adoption, and the Rogers self-described adopter type. The results showed that compatibility, relative advantage, risk, and complexity influence the perception of business travelers about air taxi services. Based on the research, the course of action suggests that business travelers will most rapidly embrace air taxi service via internet dissemination of this new option. With continued success in dissemination, positive social change will come in the form of efficiencies as business travelers use more than 5,000 virtually idle airports and over 7,000 on-demand air taxi aircraft as highlighted by U.S. government studies further bolstered by this research.

The viability of on-demand air travel in dynamic markets

Redelinghuys, Martyn Jan Josef 24 February 2013 (has links)
Business travel has become a considerable part of the daily lives of scarce human resources. Adding to the frustration is the requirement to travel with the current available modes of transport in developing countries, which effectively create a constraint in the ability of scarce human resources to apply their limited time more effectively. This study seeked to understand how and why business travel impacts the productivity of scarce human capital as well as how alternative methods of travel can contribute to increased productivity. In the study the researcher aimed to determine if an on-demand air travel service could be viable in a dynamic market such as South Africa and if so, what value a successful implementation will add to a company and the country. The research was conducted by making use of a descriptive quantitative study over two populations namely business travellers and aircraft pilots. This allowed the researcher to answer the three research questions that were identified. The study has found that not only productivity, but also the work-life balance of scarce human capital is affected negatively by the requirement to conduct business travel. It was also found that on-demand air travel could soon be a viable alternative mode of transport in dynamic markets, which would contribute to improved productivity levels of scarce human capital. This in turn will stimulate company growth and ultimately increase the overall economic growth of the country. / Dissertation (MBA)--University of Pretoria, 2012. / Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) / unrestricted

Identificação e análise de fontes de resiliência e fragilidade em empresas de táxi aéreo: estudo de múltiplos casos

Carim Júnior, Guido Cesar January 2010 (has links)
Resilience Engineering (RE) is a new safety management paradigm which, in spit of its weak theoretical structure, has been applied in many domains. In this context, this research has a main objective of identifying sources of brittleness and resilience on air taxi carriers. To accomplish this objective, this work used as base the following RE principles: flexibility, conscious, learning, top management commitment. Case study was the research strategy used, which investigated two small air taxi carriers. Research method involved the following steps: (a) air taxi carrier characterization from the tree subsystems that compose socio-technical system (social, technical, work system); (b) employees constraints and adaptations identification during the job; (c) brittleness and resilience source identification from 4 RE principles, unfolded in empirical evidences according to literature. The results show that 11 sources were related to brittleness at company A and 6 at company B. At the same way, 9 sources of resilience were identified at company A and company B. In particular, the main air taxi carrier objective (to profit, in of one them; to serve, to another one) appeared as a common to all sources of brittleness and resiliencies and almost all sources of resilience were constituted of isolated action from operators, revealing resilience source emergence from companies informal organization.
