Sätter jag mig i ett hörn, blir jag äldre än vad jag är : En kvalitativ studie om insatsen aktivering inom hemtjänsten / If I sit down in a corner, I will feel older than I really am : A qualitative study on the initiative activation within home care

Lundgren, Karolina, Liljekvist, Maria January 2013 (has links)
From the day we are born, we slowly grow old and sooner or later most people will have to use geriatric care provided by the community. In the Swedish model, society is responsible for the geriatric care, so the elderly can live a dignified, meaningful and active life. Home help insert activity is designed to help elderly get their social needs satisfied in the form of, for example, being outdoors, walk and visit a friend or some other form of social interaction. The study's purpose is to study how older people use and perceive bet activation in the municipal home care. To find out how this was conducted five interviews with older people who have help from home care to insert activation was made. The theories used to analyze the result are activity theory and disengagement theory. These theories were chosen because they differently focus on what the older individual have for needs in old age. The results of this study showed that the older we interviewed mainly used their activation time for walking and being outdoors. The elderly in this study also had no insight into what the reaction time can be used for or that it is individually assessed needs. The results also showed that the elderly do not have any requirements on their lives or their health care, but they are grateful for the assistance they receive, and the activation initiative proposed for them from the assistance officer. The conclusion is that there are some gaps in older people and what their social needs are.
