This diploma thesis deals with Moravian Duets op. 32 written by Antonín Dvořák. Including comparsion of manuscript and contemporary edition of notation and comprehensive chapter which analyse recordings of this piece. Recordings are from different types of choirs. They are represented by children's choirs, women choirs and by female component of mixed choirs. Next chapters focus on analysis of each duet from perspective of interpretation, draw attention to difficult parts and gives recommendations for the interpretation. The analysis is mainly focused on the difficulty of interpretation in terms of vocal technique. The final chapter describes vocal exercises and recommendations for easier practicing and more convincing interpretation of this piece.

Work in February 1948 and the organization of the Czechoslovak sport unification with the situation in the Czechoslovak sport in 1945 -, 1957. During these years, the Czechoslovak Republic tumultuous political developments, which has translated well to the situation in Czechoslovakia physical education and sport. A major milestone occurred in 1952 when the death largest sports organization of the Czechoslovak Sokol and lead to the liquidation of the Organization, which referred to prvorepublikou democracy, which was in disfavor of the new political leaders of Czechoslovakia. The whole process of unification of Sport is finished in 1957, the establishment of the Czechoslovak Union of Physical Education and Sport, which had existed until recently.

This work describes a wave of ballads in the czech poetry before WWI. The work has two parts. The first part maps teoretical basis of studied scientific works about ballads and baladism. Part two contains interpretation of partial texts of poetical ballads or balladic poems. This part try to catch the interpretation from the sight of traditional view of ballads and also to define individual, the tradition exceeded, conceptions. This thesis deals with the available sources, organizations and form of state funerals of important political figures, which were held between the years 1948-1968. Whole thesis is divided into five separate chapters, includes also a list of sources of literature on the subject and image attachments. The first chapter deals with theoretical description of the evolution of the burial rite. The second chapter deals with the death of the personalities and its impact on the general public. The third part describes the organization of the funeral and other rituals that took place in the period between death and burial. The fourth chapter deals with its own day of the funeral, and especially the process of mourning and remembrance ceremony funeral procession. Last fifth part focuses on the development of the personality cult and other forms of worship of deceased persons. At the end of the thesis, all acquired knowledge to this issue.

The thesis is entitled "The Image of the Burgher from Prague Johanna Barbora Englová, Born Zimmerová through the Family correspondence in the 19 th century" and it presents J. B. Englova´s destiny (18101874) on the basis of both correspondence and some ego-documents analysis. She was Emanuel Engl´s mother (18441907) who was an early Czech politician. Thanks to her, even the Prague civic society can be observed. The thesis is divided into five main chapters. At first, the life within the House of Habsburg monarchy in the 19 th century is described. Afterwards, the thesis is being focused on the situation in Prague, the civic society and its possibilities as for the social life. The second chapter pursues Johanna Englova´s family life. The third chapter is the crucial one it presents social connections which Johanna Barbora Englová made throughout her life and which can be observed within the well-preserved correspondence. The last chapter presents the salon, balls and the society as a part of Johanna Englova´s life. The thesis is trying to present contacts, relationships and social situation on the given example of both former and new family of Johanna Barbora Englová. The part of the thesis consists of an all round analysis of chosen sources. Moreover, the thesis reflects a social upswing of Johanna Barbora Englová and the process of becoming a part of the civic smart set in Prague. The thesis is followed by the list of sources, bibliography and online sources. The diagram, table, genealogy and the part with visual materials are listed in the annexe.

Tomáš Veber´s dissertation thesis is recording the beginnings of theological anthropology in Bohemian countries. These are reflected at Antonín Lenz writings. Antonín Lenz (1829 ? 1901) was the professor of theology in České Budějovice, later the residentiary and the prior on Vyšehrad. He entered his name in history, as a pioneer of neotomism. He wrote and thought in spirit of neotomistic theology long time before the publishing of the papal encyclical Aeterni patris (1879), written by Leo XIII. The author is introducing Antonín Lenz not only as theologian, but also as important polemist, arguing against the liberals, and as critic of turbulent progress too. This thesis is presenting some new reports to history of theology, as well as Church history and history of 19th century in general.

ANOTATION: The thesis discusses the outstanding Prague music society Cäcilien-Verein. Primarily on the basis of the so far unstudied and partially also unknown source material concerning the relevant issue that is deposited in the Prague conservatoire archive, the thesis presents a survey of establishment, organizational structure and membership background of the institu- tion. The period cultural and social context deals with the repertoire of primarily artistic concerts of the ensemble, and, in general features, also with other types of colourful social events in which the group participated. A separate chapter is devoted to the biography of the group founder and manager, Anton Apt. The final part of the thesis presents the edition of Apt's draft of manuscript statutes for the association, as well as photographs of selected valuable archival documents. Public diplomacy has become an integral part of international relations in the recent years. Effective communication is the key in solving international conflicts and in strengthening the partnership between nations. Building an excellent reputation of the individual country among the foreign community has no less importance. This master thesis deals with the promotion of Czech culture as an important part of public diplomacy in the US, particularly in New York, partly in Washington, DC. First and second chapter provide a theoretical framework for the following issues. Basic concept of public diplomacy is clarified there. The third chapter then presents specific players and partners whose cooperation the author deals in the fourth and fifth chapter. The fourth chapter discusses in detail the Film Festival Panorama Europe, Europe's largest film festival in New York and tries to map its promotion. This event is significant in that it is an original project of the Czech Centre New York. The Film Festival currently has a lot of partners and is held under the auspices of EUNIC. The fifth chapter presents a unique project, which has been involved in over twenty-five different players. Main theme was the freedom celebration, celebration of the 25th anniversary of Velvet Revolution. The main objective of this thesis is to analyze how players contribute in building the reputation of the Czech Republic in the USA and how they promote their activities. Everything is based on case studies.

The relationship between Czech and Russian avantgarde has not been properly examined, therefore the aim of this research was to understand the real facts and uncover “ the blind spots“ connected with the specific development of avantgarde architecture in Czechoslovakia and Soviet Union. A comprehensive and moreless thorough detailed reconstruction of the interwar period has been created with the help of comparative and historiographic analysis. This period used to be interpreted quite contrarily under the political pressure of the Soviet regime. The thesis analyses the influence of the political regime on architecture, determines the reflection of the events in the Soviet Union on the opinions of Czechoslovak architects by means of testimonies about mutual contacts, mutual criticism and cooperation in the sphere of architecture. The thesis brings and concludes new information regarding Czech architects who were designing and working in the Soviet Union. The research is based on archive documents, articles from specialized contemporary magazines and debates between Czech and Russian architects.

The master thesis deals with the biography of Mons. ThDr. Antonin Liska CSsR (1924 - 2003), the 11th bishop of České Budějovice. It reflects different stages of his life seen on the background of the changing situation of the Catholic Church in Czechoslovakia in the second half of the 20th century. The thesis presents mainly bishop Liška's family background in the South Bohemian countryside, his religious formation in the Redemptorist order before and during the Second World War, his theology studies in the after-war years, his secret ordination during the time of the rising totalitarian communist regime, his public ministry during the so called "normalisation" period, his activities in the underground church, his involvement in the Czech ecumenical translation of the Bible, his appointment as the auxiliary bishop of Prague in 1988 and his ministry as the head of the Diocese of České Budějovice from 1991 to 2002. The thesis is primarily based on written archive sources and personal testimonies given by relatives and collaborators of bishop Liška.
