O estudo de métodos para investigar a injúria renal nessas cadelas, assim como entender a fisiopatologia dessas alterações, tem sido descrito na literatura recente. A ultrassonografia Doppler fornece informações importantes sobre o fluxo sanguíneo e a resistência vascular dos rins. O presente estudo avaliou a aplicabilidade deste recurso na avaliação renal de 30 cadelas com piometra comparativamente a 24 cadelas hígidas do grupo controle, em diestro e anestro. Com exceção dos valores séricos de ureia e creatinina, todas as variáveis avaliadas: contagem de leucócitos, plaquetas, hematócrito, relação proteína/creatinina, relação GGT/creatinina, densidade urinária, perfusão renal e índice de resistividade das artérias renais principais, interlobares cranial, média e caudal foram diferentes entre o grupo controle e o experimental. Todas as cadelas com piometra fechada apresentaram as medianas dos valores do índice de resistividade, acima de 0,7, valor proposto como limítrofe para normalidade. O estudo Doppler detectou alterações de perfusão renal e do IR das artérias renais principais e interlobares na maioria das cadelas acometidas com piometra / Abstract: Bitches with pyometra often develop transient renal changes. The study of methods to investigate the renal injury in these bitches, as well as to understand the pathophysiology of these changes, has been described in recent literature. Doppler ultrasound provides important information about blood flow and vascular resistance of the kidneys. This study evaluated the applicability of this resource in the renal evaluation of 30 bitches with pyometra compared with 24 healthy bitches of the control group, in diestrus and anestrus. With the exception of serum urea and creatinine, all variables: leukocytes, platelets, hematocrit, protein/creatinine ratio, GGT/creatinine ratio, urine specific gravity, renal perfusion and resistivity index (RI) of the main renal arteries, cranial, middle and caudal interlobar arteries were different between the control and experimental group. All the bitches with closed pyometra presented the median values of the resistivity index above 0,7, the proposed value considered as borderline for normality.
