Cinematrope

Wilson, Kathryn 17 May 2013 (has links)
My body of work involves photographic and video explorations around the concept that cinema has a great influence over who we are as a culture and as individuals. I use the tableaux technique to illustrate the archetypal language of film through fictional film stills. Congruously, I use video to interject myself into scenes from movies, referencing the way viewers mentally project themselves into movies as they watch them. I am interested in decoding visual stereotypes promoted by cinema through the lens of my own experience with movies.

Pohyb ve výtvarném umění na počátku 20. století / Movement in the visual arts in the early 20th century

LOKVENCOVÁ, Barbora January 2014 (has links)
This thesis deals with the phenomenon of motion in the fine arts. The theoretical part of the work is searching for connections between the psychological, philosophical, scientific and artistic conception of motion. At the same time it is monitoring the formation of new styles of art in the early 20th century, whose inspiration was (besides other things) discovery of technologies, that enable to catch the motion. The practicalpart together with the didactical part deals with combination of drawing and motion. The practical part contains cycles of photographs and drawings on the topic of "Elements", then there are several proposals of simple tasks easing the creative expression of pupils in the sixth year of primary school, which lead to build a simple optical instrument. This resulting project is also a part of the actual art work.

This work is a view over the corporeal practices in Cinearte and Scena Muda cinema magazines, between 1921 and 1941. These magazines pictures were important sources of sporting practices, gymnastics, make-up and dressing, eating and talking forms. To sum up, ways of living in the new Brazilian urban-industrial society ¿ based on a Hollywood pattern. Such photographs, while revealing these practices aimed a more ample speech: beauty. The Hollywood like stars images, were, above all, desire, civility and modernity patterns to be followed. The house and other several camps of intimacy are sceneries of luxury and spetacularization of a body which has the need of being seen and longed for to be consumed. The education for the beauty will be an orientating speech to all the practices, justifying the most diverse investments regarding the body / Mestrado / Educação, Conhecimento, Linguagem e Arte / Mestre em Educação
