Abstraktus vaizdavimo būdas meninio ugdymo procese / Abstract art in the school

Snarskienė, Rasa 13 June 2005 (has links)
The completed research allows to conclude that abstract expression holds a key importance in the process of art tuition. Its influence on children visual reflection is determined by a number of factors: the development of student's thinking process, his individual character, visual reflection forms, relevant teaching methods and valuation of student's works. This research describes the techniques the tutor uses for the purpose to understand the student, best reveal his unique inner capabilities and skills and facilitate their development. In early age, when children only start to realize the principals of abstract art, they create abstract compositions on playing grounds. Their creativity, active imagination, thinking capabilities and intuition expand and improve on the way. In upper grades, when the attractiveness of drawing and working as a process fades out, the weight of drawing result continually increases. This is the age when children lose the joy of spontaneous creation, while the attempt at realistic expression encounters an essential lack of skills. Children are willing to be taught and they seek definite rules. Still they cannot generalize consciously, therefore the most appropriate tasks are design of ornaments out of geometrical figures, lines and colours. This way they get acquainted with the means of abstract expression in art, and these provide a positive impulse for the enhancement of creative capabilities and overall personality maturing. 14 – 18 years... The effectiveness of parental involvement on achievement and multicultural awareness at the middle school level in a visual arts program

Muellenberg, Martha 18 September 2014 (has links)

In the past few decades, parental involvement has increasingly become more noted in a child's educational journey. More administrators and teachers are recognizing the value of parental involvement. Parental involvement benefits include increased student achievement and stronger school-family partnerships. Implementing parental involvement practices is often required for schools to receive federal support such as Title I funds. Although there is supporting research that shows the positive effects of parental involvement in elementary school settings, there is limited research as to how it can affect students at the middle school level. In addition, other effects of parental involvement that stretch beyond student learning, such as multicultural awareness, have received much less attention.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not parental involvement at the middle school level has an impact on students' multicultural awareness and learning. Quantitative and qualitative analyses were performed to identify statistical significance and emerging themes to be used to enhance classroom practices at the middle school level. An instrument adapted from the Civil Rights Project (CRP) was used to collect data from middle school students to measure multicultural awareness. Four and five-point Likert scales were used to measure respondents' levels of awareness. A researcher-created summative assessment was used as an instrument to evaluate student learning. Additionally, qualitative questions were used to elicit students' perceptions regarding culture and family involvement.

Quantitative findings from this study did not reveal statistical significance between the control and parental involvement groups regarding student learning and multicultural awareness. Practical significance was shown in two of the survey questions, which indicated small to medium effects between group and time and small to medium effects of interactions. Practical significance was also evident in the interactions between groups based on grade level in three of the survey questions. Qualitatively, the majority of middle school students felt they were open to learning about cultures different from their own. Most students believed their parents would enjoy hearing about what they learn in visual arts classes. Other themes emerged including the misconception that culture is exclusively related to peoples of the past and the notion that cultural topics are only discussed in terms of the oppression of others. The majority of fifth and sixth grade respondents believed that art class was a venue for learning about different cultures and could recognize the benefits of learning about people from different parts of the world.

Implementing critical inquiry in arts responding classes: studies of teaching strategies whilst studying contemporary artworks

Hogan, Marie Unknown Date (has links) (PDF)
This study investigates one teacher’s strategies and use of critical inquiry skills whilst teaching a senior art class about contemporary artworks. It has sought to identify the strengths and challenges one teacher faces whilst teaching contemporary artworks through a postmodern art curriculum. It looks at thinking and learning opportunities through critically responsive teaching and seeks to recognize the importance of an innovative and imaginative approach. / The research process comprised gathering information through a series of interviews and observations of one teacher over five consecutive theoretical lessons. The results of these recorded interviews as well as the observational notes and transcriptions provided me with ample data for analysis and discussion. The students’ responses were analysed in terms of the VCE art curriculum’s requirements using the interpretive frameworks and for the development of critical thinking in the study of postmodern list art. / The results indicate that developing thinking skills contributes to a students ability to problem solve and make decisions. Strategies for thinking and learning are enhanced in a quality learning environment which challenges students, promotes reflection and critical inquiry and involves students in meaningful learning opportunities. This study has shown how studying contemporary art contributes to overall development of the mind through innovative pedagogy. It has also shown that traditional teaching approaches to art curriculum design framed by postmodern perspectives have the ability provide students with comprehensive and interesting learning opportunities. / The significance of this study is that it has shown that the new curriculum with its emphasis on the interpretive frameworks can be taught with traditional methods. As the teacher gains confidence with the method he is also able to expand his approaches and adapt his teaching style to facilitate a productive outcome. This is seen in the growth of thinking skills and knowledge revealed by this small group of students in an outer metropolitan Victorian secondary school.

No. of bitstreams: 1 ANA RITA DA SILVA.pdf: 2699438 bytes, checksum: 4245ec30550f3834fc8e2468645561dd (MD5) Previous issue date: 2018-09-14 / The present work, inscribed in the line of research of Theories of Education and Pedagogical Processes, aims to study the development of creativity and the processes of creation in school, based on the contributions of the Historical-Cultural Theory formulated by Lev Seminovich Vigotski and his collaborators. This theoretical reference, in leading to the understanding the creative imagination as a process that encompasses the systemic development of higher psychological functions through out intersubjective interaction, highlights the role of the school in providing the child's cognitive-affective experiences for the formation of this capacity. With this understanding, the central problem that was sought to clarify was: what are the implications of school educational work in the development of the creative imagination of students, based on the conceptions of creativity of managers and teachers, and the way they perform pedagogical mediation in school and in Art classes? This problematic points out to the main objective that is related to the understanding and analysis of how the conceptions of creativity of managers and teachers and the way they perform pedagogical mediation in school and in art classes imply the development of the students' creative imagination. And, as specific objectives, it will historicize and contextualize the concept of creativity and its implications within the Brazilian pedagogical tendencies; analyze the conception of creativity of teachers and managers; examine pedagogical mediation in school and in art classes; investigate the students’ artistic production, based on pedagogical mediation in the context of art classes; demonstrate the peculiarities of historicalcultural theory for the development of creativity in the school context. The work takes place in two stages, involving bibliographical and field researches. The bibliographical search covers the period from 1975 to 2015, focusing on studies on the theme of creativity, specifically related to art education. The field research involves managers, teachers and students of the Art discipline of the 6th and 7th years of Elementary School in two public schools. The data collection includes questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, analysis of the Political Pedagogical Project and the observation of participation in Art classes. The results obtained from the thesis reveal that, in most of the consulted literature on creativity, psychological conceptions prevail that do not consider the interconnections between social and cultural in the study of personality formation; the managers and teachers investigated tend to see creativity as a historical cultural phenomenon, but without reaching a theoretical explanation that contributes to the understanding of the psychological connections; Art teachers’ pedagogical mediation does not prioritize actions focused on the creative imagination, such as problematization, thought activity, reflection, fantasy. Thus, the limitations imposed on the imagination and subjective motivation bring losses to the activity of pupils' creation, generating stereotyped forms of expression, which they end up being maintained at the reproductive level, without advancing to more elaborated and original aesthetic configurations from the point of view of magnification and transformation of experiences. In conclusion, therefore there is a need to develop studies on the subject of creativity in the teaching of art in a historical-cultural perspective, surpassing concepts that are rigid or misleading about the concept and seeking its understanding as a psychological function to be developed in a way through out education.

The aim of the diploma thesis is to find out and compare the level of motor abilities of younger school age children attending dance lessons at Elementary Art school and then to compare it with the level of motor abilities of younger school age children which do sports only in Physical Education. It has been testing at the Elementary Art school in Chotěboř and at the Primary School Smetanova in Chotěboř and I used the battery test - Unifittest (6-60), which I completed by the holistic motoric test, called the Jacík test. I also used a questionnaire to find out what other sports activities do pupils of the dance branch. The research part of this work shows that the dance students achieved on average better results than the pupils of the Primary School dedicated to sports only in Physical Education. The biggest difference was between the test groups in the repeatedly "Leh-Sed", when the dance students were better by almost 30 %. Using a questionnaire survey I found out that 9 out of 14 pupils of the dance branch attend at least one other sports club. KEYWORDS motor abilities, primary school age, elementary art school, dance subject, UNIFITTEST (6-60)
