Nonaqueous solvent systems, instrumentation, and high precision assay in constant-current coulometryWinward, Michael R. 01 August 1976 (has links)
The electrogeneration of iodide ion from iodine in acetonitrile for use in constant-current coulometric iodometric determinations was studied. Purification of acetonitrile and iodine was found to be necessary. Copper and ceric determinations were not found to be possible by this technique. A charge buret for use in constant-current coulometry is described. It provides manual and automatic control of the current flow and measures the time of current flow to within 0.005%. NBS SRM 136c, potassium dichromate, was assayed by high precision coulometric titration. A differential method of performing high precision coulometric titrations that is much more convenient is described. Ferrous ethylenediammonium sulfate and ferrous ammonium sulfate were assayed by this method. Neither was found to be a primary standard.
