Context-specific inquires the contextual antecedents and boundary conditions of HRM; employee-centred underlines the incorporation of employee experience, particularly employee well-being into HRM-performance models. The two perspectives extend the classic HRM-performance model into a multilevel model channelled via multiple processes. The present thesis aims to study Chinese HRM by integrating the context-specific and employee-centred perspective. It primarily consists of three papers: a systematic review on the HRM-performance link in the China-based literature (Chapter 2), a construct clarification on employee wellbeing (Chapter 3), and an empirical study on the detrimental effect of guanxi HRM (Chapter 4). By synthesising 52 survey studies, the review (Chapter 2) shows that the Chinese literature is following the West to embrace the context-specific and employee-centred perspective, but the former is less extensively addressed than the latter. This review contributes to the literature by providing a research map on empirical Chinese HRM research focusing on the context-specific and employee-centred perspective. Building on extant well-being models, the second paper (Chapter 3) substantiates employee wellbeing as an equilibrium of multiple dimensions: hedonic and eudaimonic well-being, individual and social well-being, and positive and negative affect. The qualitative and quantitative analyses based on a survey of 544 Chinese employees support the propositions except for the distinction between individual and social well-being. Drawing on basic psychological needs theory, the third paper (Chapter 4) postulates that guanxi HRM creates a detrimental environment that would frustrate employees’ basic psychological needs, and it would undermine employee well-being in sequence; reflecting on the Chinese context, it proposes that the value of perseverance would moderate the process from need frustration to employee well-being. The results based on a survey of 321 Chinese employees support the hypotheses except for the moderating effect of perseverance when employee well-being is operationalised as emotional exhaustion. The thesis contributes to the literature by integrating the context-specific and employee-centred perspective to study HRM in China. It has generated a research map on HRM-performance link, clarified the conceptualisation of employee well-being, and delineated the detrimental effect of guanxi HRM. The exploration invites researchers to contribute to the global HRM research base by addressing the context and paying due attention to employee well-being in China.

Ce mémoire porte sur la figure de la marginalité apparue dans le cinéma indépendant chinois. Nous nous sommes intéressés au cinéma indépendant issu d’un contexte chinois postsocialiste. Cette étude nous a permis d’explorer les conditions sociales des personnes marginales, de même que leur représentation dans le cinéma indépendant. Afin d'identifier les caractéristiques de la représentation des marginaux dans le cinéma chinois, des approches thématiques et esthétiques ont été mobilisées. L’exploration de l’espace urbain, de la banlieue ou de la campagne a été privilégiée par certains cinéastes indépendants. Trois mouvements ont ainsi été examinés : le cinéma de la Génération urbaine, le cinéma de la Nouvelle quête des racines et le mouvement du Nouveau documentaire. Les trois films, qui leur sont associés, sont East Palace, West Palace (Zhang Yuan, 1996), Still Life (Jia Zhangke, 2006) et les trois Sœurs de Yunnan (Wang Bing, 2012). Ces films sont représentatifs de la présence de marginaux dans la société chinoise / This thesis focuses on the figure of marginality that has appeared in Chinese independent cinema. In particular, it examines independent cinema in a post-socialist Chinese context. This study allowed the exploration of the social condition of marginalized people, as well as their representation in independent cinema. In order to identify the characteristics of the representation of the marginalized in Chinese cinema, thematic and aesthetic approaches were used. Urban space, the suburbs and the countryside have been favored by some independent filmmakers. Three movements were accordingly examined: the cinema of the Urban Generation, the cinema of the New Xungen movement and the New Documentary movement. The three films associated with them are East Palace, West Palace (Zhang Yuan, 1996), Still Life (Jia Zhangke, 2006) and The Three Sisters of Yunnan (Wang Bing, 2012). These films are representative of the presence of marginalized people in Chinese society.

Nous présentons l'auto-assemblage 2D de molécules Donneuses (D) et Acceptrices (A) d'électrons sur Au(111), ainsi que leur étude par un dispositif de Microscopie à Effet Tunnel couplé à une excitation lumineuse (LA-STM). Dans un premier temps, des systèmes 2D supramoléculaires robustes (liaisons hydrogène) D et/ou A ont été élaborés par un procédé en solution. Des liaisons hydrogène sont mises en évidence sur un assemblage d'un dérivé de porphyrine (D) pouvant en établir plusieurs, montrant le lien entre les liaisons établies et la géométrie obtenue. D'autre part, un réseau poreux "hôte" à base de molécules de PTCDI (A) et de mélamine est utilisé pour diriger la croissance de molécules "invitées" à l'intérieur des pores. Des systèmes hôte-invités sont alors élaborés en utilisant soit un dérivé thiolé de porphyrine (D), soit un polyoxométalate (POM). Une étude infrarouge de surface (PM-IRRAS) montre en plus que le réseau a une influence différente sur le processus d'organisation des deux molécules.Dans un deuxième temps, la mise en place d'un dispositif de LA-STM est décrite, avec une étude réalisée sur une bicouche moléculaire D/A constituée d'un polymère (PTB7) et d'un dérivé de fullerène (PC71BM). Premièrement, les effets photo-physiques, non spécifiques aux molécules et inhérents à la technique, ont été étudiés. Cela a permis de mesurer le courant à potentiels opposés DI=I(V+)-I(V-), attribué aux transferts de charge aux jonctions D/A. La localisation de ce courant permet d'identifier les jonctions D/A actives en surface avec une résolution nanométrique. / We present the 2D self-assembly of molecular electron Donors (D) and Acceptors (A) on Au(111) and their study by Light-Assisted Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (LA-STM). Firstly, hydrogen bonded supramolecular assemblies are elaborated from solutions. On one hand, a the self-assembly of a porphyrin derivative (D) show the relationship between the established hydrogen bonds and the obtained geometry. On the other hand, a PTCDI-melamine porous host network was used to template the growth of guest molecules within the pores. Host-guest systems are then elaborated using a thiolated porphyrin derivative and a polyoxometalate (POM) molecule. A surface infrared analysis (PM-IRRAS) shows that the network has different effects on the growth process and orientation angles of the two molecules.Secondly, we developed a LA-STM setup and we analysed a polymer/fullerene (PTB7/PC71BM) D/A molecular system. After the study of the photo-physical phenomena giving rise to the photo-current, we measured the current at opposite bias voltages DI=I(V+)-I(V-). We attribute this current to the photo-absorption of the molecules and to the electron transfer at the molecular D/A junctions which allows us to identify the active junctions on the surface with the nanometre resolution.
