Ověřování parametrických vlastností nad záznamy běhů programů / Parametric Properties for Log Checker

The goal of this thesis is to implement a tool that based on user defined properties can verify sequences of events in the traces of the program, or the log file. Properties are defined in extended regular expressions. The tool is able to verify parametric properties. User can define relations between parameters of events. Input of this tool is the definition of properties and constraints of parameters. Output of the tool is the report of violated properties with its sequences of events that caused the error.

Autour des automates : génération aléatoire et contribution à quelques extensions / On the subject of automata : random generation and contribution to some extensions

Le sujet de cette thèse se divise en trois parties: les deux premières traitent chacune d'une extension du modèle utilisé en théorie des automates, tandis que la dernière aborde une partie plus concrète qui consiste à générer des automates avec des propriétés particulières. Tout d'abord, nous donnons une extension du concept d'automate universel, défini sur les mots finis, aux omega-langages. Pour cela, nous avons défini une forme normale pour tenir compte de la spécificité du mode d'acceptation des automates de Büchi qui nous permettent de reconnaître les omega-langages. Ensuite nous avons défini deux types d'omega-factorisations, "classiques" et "pures", qui sont des extensions du concept de factorisation d'un langage, ce qui nous a permis de définir l'automate universel d'un omega-langage. Nous avons prouvé que ce dernier dispose bien des différentes propriétés attendues: il est le plus petit automate de Büchi reconnaissant l'omega-langage et qui possède la propriété d'universalité (moyennant la forme normale). Nous présentons également une méthode pour calculer efficacement les omega-factorisations maximales d'un langage à partir d'un automate prophétique reconnaissant le dit langage. Dans la seconde partie, nous traitons le cas des automates bidirectionnels à multiplicité dans un semi-anneau. Dans un premier temps, nous donnons une version légérement différente de la construction permettant de passer d'un automate bidirectionnel à multiplicité à un automate unidirectionnel à multiplicité et nous prouvons qu'elle préserve la non-ambiguïté mais pas le déterminisme. Nous montrons, également à l'aide d'une construction, que les automates bidirectionnels à multiplicité non-ambigus sont équivalents aux automates unidirectionnels à multiplicité déterministes. Dans un second temps, nous nous concentrons sur les semi-anneaux tropicaux (ou min-+). Nous montrons que sur N-min-+, les automates bidirectionnels sont équivalents aux automates unidirectionnels. Nous montrons également que sur Z-min-+, les automates bidirectionnels n'ont pas toujours un comportement défini et que cette propriété est décidable tandis qu'il n'est pas décidable s'il existe un mot pour lequel le comportement est défini. Dans la dernière partie, nous proposons un algorithme de génération aléatoire d'automate acycliques, accessibles et déterministes ainsi que d'automates acycliques minimaux avec une distribution qui est quasiment uniforme, tout cela à l'aide de chaîne de Markov. Nous prouvons l'exactitude de chacun de ces deux algorithmes et nous expliquons comment adapter en tenant compte de contraintes sur l'ensemble des états finals / The subject of this thesis is decided into three parts: two of them are about extensions of the classical model in automata theory, whereas the third one is about a more concrete aspect which consists in randomly generate automata with specific properties. We first give an extension of the universal automaton on finite words to infinite words. To achieve this, we define a normal form in order to take account of the specific acceptance mode of Büchi automata which recognize omega-langages. Then we define two kinds of omega-factorizations, a "regular" one and the "pure" kind, which are both extensions of the classical concept of factorization of a language. This let us define the universal automaton of an omega-language. We prove that it has all the required properties: it is the smallest Buchi automaton, in normal form, that recognizes the omega-language and which has the universal property. We also give an effective way to compute the "regular" omega-factorizations of a language using a prophetic automaton recognizing the language. In the second part, we deal with two-way automata weighted over a semi ring. First, we give a slightly different version of the computation of a weighted one-way automaton from a weighted two-way automaton and we prove that it preserves the non-ambiguity but not the determinism. We prove that non-ambiguous weighted two-way automata are equivalent to deterministic weighted one-way automata. In a later part, we focus on tropical semi rings (or min-+). We prove that two-way automata on N-min-+ are equivalent to one-way automata on N-min-+. We also prove that the behavior of two-way automata on Z-min-+ are not always defined and that this property is decidable whereas it is undecidable whether or not there exists a word on which the behavior is defined. In the last section, we propose an algorithm in order to randomly generate acyclic, accessible and determinist automata and minimal acyclic automata with an almost uniform distribution using Morkov chains. We prove the reliability of both algorithms and we explain how to adapt them in order to fit with constraints on the set of final states

Analysis, synthesis and application of automaton-based constraint descriptions

Constraint programming (CP) is a technology in which a combinatorial problem is modelled as a conjunction of constraints on variables ranging over given initial domains, and optionally an objective function on the variables. Such a model is given to a general-purpose solver performing systematic search to find constraint-satisfying domain values for the variables, giving an optimal value to the objective function. A constraint predicate (also known as a global constraint) does two things: from the modelling perspective, it allows a modeller to express a commonly occurring combinatorial substructure, for example that a set of variables must take distinct values; from the solving perspective, it comes with a propagation algorithm, called a propagator, which removes some but not necessarily all impossible values from the current domains of its variables when invoked during search. Although modern CP solvers have many constraint predicates, often a predicate one would like to use is not available. In the past, the choices were either to reformulate the model or to write one's own propagator. In this dissertation, we contribute to the automatic design of propagators for new predicates. Integer time series are often subject to constraints on the aggregation of the features of all maximal occurrences of some pattern. For example, the minimum width of the peaks may be constrained. Automata allow many constraint predicates for variable sequences, and in particular many time-series predicates, to be described in a high-level way. Our first contribution is an algorithm for generating an automaton-based predicate description from a pattern, a feature, and an aggregator. It has previously been shown how to decompose an automaton-described constraint on a variable sequence into a conjunction of constraints whose predicates have existing propagators. This conjunction provides the propagation, but it is unknown how to propagate it efficiently. Our second contribution is a tool for deriving, in an off-line process, implied constraints for automaton-induced constraint decompositions to improve propagation. Further, when a constraint predicate functionally determines a result variable that is unchanged under reversal of a variable sequence, we provide as our third contribution an algorithm for deriving an implied constraint between the result variables for a variable sequence, a prefix thereof, and the corresponding suffix.

Branch groups and automata

The focus of this thesis is finitely generated subgroups of the automorphism group of an infinite spherically homogeneous rooted tree (regular or irregular). The first chapter introduces the topic and outlines the main results. The second chapter provides definitions of the terminology used, and also some preliminary results. The third chapter introduces a group that appears to be a promising candidate for a finitely generated group of infinite upper rank with finite upper $p$-rank for all primes $p$. It goes on to demonstrate that in fact this group has infinite upper $p$-rank for all primes $p$. As a by-product of this construction, we obtain a finitely generated branch group with quotients that are virtually-(free abelian of rank $n$) for arbitrarily large $n$. The fourth chapter gives a complete classification of ternary automata with $C_2$-action at the root, and a partial classification of ternary automata with $C_3$-action at the root. The concept of a `windmill automaton' is introduced in this chapter, and a complete classification of binary windmill automata is given. The fifth chapter contains a detailed study of the non-abelian ternary automata with $C_3$-action at the root. It also contains some conjectures about possible isomorphisms between these groups.

The main goal of the thesis is the design and implementation environment that provides tools for working with grammars and languages. The environment is implemented by the library to which the user is working through the API. The library enables manipulation with languages represented as grammars or automata, transfer language between its various representations and to test whether the grammar is regular, linear or LR(k). The library found counterexamples in case that condition is violated. The thesis also highlights the future library expansion. Part of this work is a sample implementation of library usage. The library and samples are written in C++.

Desta forma, é apresentada uma comparação de tempo de execução do modelo seqüencial e o modelo proposto. Além disso, é apresentado um ambiente de desenvolvimento de autômatos finitos adaptativos paralelos. Com o objetivo de padronizar e facilitar a implementação destes dispositivos, optou-se por adotar uma linguagem de alto nível para a implementação, o Scheme. Esta é uma linguagem funcional que permite a utilização de mecanismos de paralelização, o que torna a escrita de programas paralelos mais direta. / It is presented in this paper a model for parallel execution of the finite-state adaptive automaton, arguing that this kind of execution could be more efficient than the traditional sequential one. For this discussion, a comparison between the two models of execution is shown in this paper. Also, a framework for parallel adaptive finite-state automata development is presented. For this purpose, the language Scheme was used, for it is a functional language, with high level of abstraction, that includes features for parallelizing computation.

A partir de regras e critérios pré-estabelecidos, definimos o comportamento da difusão da criminalidade em uma cidade como função do tempo e dos seus parâmetros de controle. Utilizando um tratamento estatístico da criminalidade, nossos resultados indicam uma possível transição entre fase endêmica, onde o crime existe porém em baixa ocorrência, e uma fase epidêmica, onde o crime é desenfreado. / Abstract: In this work, we will use a cellular automata to investigate the problem of residential robberies. Starting from a set of rules and criteria, the diffusion of the crime is investigated either as a function of time as well function of the control parameters. Using a statistical treatment our results indicate a possible phase transition between endemic, where crime exists but in low occurrence, and epidemic where crime is rampant. / Mestre
