Painting inside the lines : The intrapreneurial dilemma

Riendeau, Rebecka, Ramshage, Clara January 2022 (has links)
By focusing on the contradiction between stability and change, this thesis researched what factors impact intrapreneurship and how innovative organizations promote intrapreneurial activities. The aim is to gain an understanding of how innovative organizations foster intrapreneurship. The thesis is of a qualitative research design with an abductive approach. Data is collected in the form of nine semi-structured interviews with managers from different roles and industries. The interviewed managers were selected on the basis of two predetermined requirements. First, they represented companies identified as innovative and intrapreneurial by their respective organizational and financial structures, with business strategies focused on innovation. Second, the interviewees were identified as managers actively involved in managing strategic initiatives and intrapreneurial activities. The empirical findings confirmed that the relationship between large organizations and intrapreneurship is a difficult balancing act. This thesis provides findings that the corporate climate, organizational support, rewards and risk as well as intrapreneurial characteristics all impact intrapreneurial efforts. Ultimately, there is a need for organizations to balance organizational and intrapreneurial characteristics in order to foster innovation and solve the intrapreneurial dilemma. Consequently, the findings contribute valuable insight to the scattered field of intrapreneurship.

Recuperação judicial de empresas: atuação do juiz / Judicial Corporate Reorganization: Judge\'s Role

Vaz, Janaina Campos Mesquita 14 March 2016 (has links)
This study aims at the analysis of the role played by judges in connection to the proceedings of judicial corporate reorganization established under Federal Law No. 11.101, dated February 9, 2002 (\"LRE\"). In the first chapter, the limitations to this study and the main questions to be answered herein are introduced. In the second chapter, the legal and historical backgrounds of LRE are presented. In the third chapter, we propose three (3) different levels of judicial intervention related to the judicial corporate reorganization procedure: (a) the control of strict legality, by means of which the judge will monitor whether the reorganization plan and the deliberation organized for the plan to be voted are in compliance with the requirements and prohibitions imposed by LRE; (b) the control of substantive legality, through which the judge will assess whether the plan\'s content and its voting meet the general principles that govern Brazilian legal system; and (c) a feasibility judgment, by means of which the judge, using some objective criteria suggested by doctrine, evaluates the merits of the judicial reorganization plan to determine whether, the recovery plan provisions reach the goals set by LRE, in the sense of protection of viable companies and institucional credit.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE FUNCTIONS FOR AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS

Zihao Liang (18966976) 03 July 2024 (has links)

In recent years, advancements in robotics and computing power have enabled robots to master complex tasks. Nevertheless, merely executing tasks isn't sufficient for robots. To achieve higher robot autonomy, learning the objective function is crucial. Autonomous systems can effectively eliminate the need for explicit programming by autonomously learning the control objective and deriving their control policy through the observation of task demonstrations. Hence, there's a need to develop a method for robots to learn the desired objective functions. In this thesis, we address several challenges in objective learning for autonomous systems, enhancing the applicability of our method in real-world scenarios. The ultimate objective of the thesis is to create a universal objective learning approach capable of addressing a range of existing challenges in the field while emphasizing data efficiency and robustness. Hence, building upon the previously mentioned intuition, we present a framework for autonomous systems to address a variety of objective learning tasks in real-time, even in the presence of noisy data. In addition to objective learning, this framework is capable of handling various other learning and control tasks.

The first part of this thesis concentrates on objective learning methods, specifically inverse optimal control (IOC). Within this domain, we have made three significant contributions aimed at addressing three existing challenges in IOC: 1) learning from minimal data, 2) learning without prior knowledge of system dynamics, and 3) learning with system outputs.

The second part of this thesis aims to develop a unified IOC framework to address all the challenges previously mentioned. It introduces a new paradigm for autonomous systems, referred to as Online Control-Informed Learning. This paradigm aims to tackle various of learning and control tasks online with data efficiency and robustness to noisy data. Integrating optimal control theory, online state estimation techniques, and machine learning methods, our proposed paradigm offers an online learning framework capable of tackling a diverse array of learning and control tasks. These include online imitation learning, online system identification, and policy tuning on-the-fly, all with efficient use of data and computation resources while ensuring robust performance.
