Civic hall and bus station : in ÖstersundKörberg Turhagen, Frida January 2016 (has links)
This Thesis project is going to be situated in my home town Östersund, 600 kilometers north from Stockholm. It´s a small town with 60 000 people and it is the only city of the region Jämtland in Norrland, Sweden. In the city centre of Östersund there is one existing bus terminal station where the buses arrive with people from the entire region. The task for this Thesis project is to rebuild the existing bus station in Östersund where the actual terminal building is going to be completely demolished and the entire block within the current bus stops is going to be rearranged. The topography of the terminal area is now dividing the regional buses that arrives on the upper level from the city buses that stops at the lower level. Therefore the main challenge of the new proposal is how one would strengthen the junction between these two flows of people and how a new architecture could enable the encounter between the countryside and the urban city.

Circulation StructuredSchubert, Bastian 01 February 2011 (has links)
Circulation is the way by which people move and interact with a piece of architecture. In public buildings, such as transportation terminals, it is crucial to have a floor plan that allows easy flow of pedestrian traffic. Effective circulation in public areas such as these ensures a visitor can navigate conveniently and efficiently. Also, using circulation elements such as elevators, escalators, and staircases, optimizes the flow of individuals through a building while providing visual appeal as they can be positioned and designed creatively
Within my thesis I am investigating the relation between the physical presence of architecture and the possibilities to provide order and sensualisation throught its circulation system. Humans follow specific quotes of orientation, but architecture can especially offer certain guidelines. Although structural solutions require essential knowledge, this thesis further requests the double use of structure as a circulation pathway in addition. The high-scale urban environment of New York City provides ground for this investigation. / Master of Architecture

Spaza shed : an active waiting station in the Pretoria CBDBeetge, Alicia 27 June 2013 (has links)
This dissertation is based on the premise that design, no matter how intricate or complex in nature, arises from something as basic and rudimentary as a ‘need’. It is a process of retrospection into how interior design answers the needs of human beings in the environment. The aim of the project is celebrate the act of waiting and the experience of the ‘every-day’ world. Interior design is used to acts as ‘mediator’ between people, their needs and the environment. The project sheds light on the ‘every-day' life world by investigating the activities and interactions of people within the context of a public transport facility. The ‘status-quo’ of such facilities in South Africa is questioned by investigating the extent to which interior design acts as mediator to facilitate the user. The main activities of ‘waiting’ and ‘foodvending’ form the basis of the design project. The proposed site (Spaza Shed) is located in Scheiding Street at the north-western edge of the Pretoria Station precinct in the central business district (CBD) of Pretoria. Originally used as an office building, it underwent radical alteration when it was converted into a bus terminal by Stauch and Vorster Architects in 1993. This typological change rendered the building isolated from the rest of the site context. In addition, following the upgrading of what is today the new bus station building (south of the building) the Spaza Shed was abandoned and used for storage. Today, the building houses several steel kiosks of which only a few are occupied by food-vendors who prepare and sell ‘traditional’ meals. Lack of facilities and systems mean that the building presents a health risk to both tenants and customers. The northern edge of the building consists of a series of small shops and inadequate benches where bus commuters clamour while waiting. The proximity of the Spaza Shed relative to the bus station provides the potential for the Spaza Shed to serve as an active waiting station for bus commuters as well as pedestrians moving past the building. The proposed program rests on the basis of mediation and interaction by connecting the Spaza Shed building with the bus station as well as the CBD. An active waiting area is proposed which will house seating (based on ergonomic principles and postures), public restroomand shower facilities, food kiosks, interior green spaces, free wifi access and interactive information stations. A proposal is made for a a play area and a day care center. / Dissertation MInt(Prof)--University of Pretoria, 2013 / Architecture / MInt(Prof) / Unrestricted

Slovácké divadlo I. / Theatre of Slovácko I.Kalouda, Petr January 2018 (has links)
The subject of this diploma thesis is the location and design of a theater building in the body of a regional center - the town of Uherské Hradiště. The existing theater building is housed in a rented Sokolovna (sport-cultural building) on Tyršovo Square. There is also a small stage in a house on Mariánské náměstí. The capacity of the auditorium of the large scene is 370 spectators, corresponding to the needs of the city and the region. However the size of the stage is completely inadequate, the height of the flytower, the absence of back and side stages, Also, the workshops and warehouses are currently located away from the theater. The project addresses the current unfavorable situation of the theater, which is, in the long-term, interest to the city of Uherské Hradiště itself. My intention is to create an open-air theater complex outside the building - a city living room - following the building of a former prison. Object visible from the main road, clearly recognizable, welcoming visitors. Theater composed of three masses created not only for actors, but primarily for its visitors. The object works with the motif of the way through it (possibly around a tranquil pedestrian zone, for example, by shopping, walking, but it provides the opportunity not to be primarily on the way but also on the target.) The current form of the place is unacceptable to the city.

商業模式之價值主張研究 -以桃園機場轉運站票務整合為例 / A Case Study on Value Proposition of Business Model: The Bus-Ticket Integration in Taoyuan Airport張世豪, Chang, Shih hao Unknown Date (has links)
Since Taoyuan Airport Corporation took over Taoyuan International Airport in 2010, the average growth rate of visitors arriving to Taiwan has increased by 10% . This increase of visitors resulted in the overloading of relevant services and facilities, especially the public bus station which is the main transportation used by visitors. As a result the corporation will have to : (1) Propose improvement programs for the more efficient distribution of passengers;(2) Get a better grasp of the needs of passengers and bus companies; (3) Make modification to its business model in order to survive in a fast-moving environment. Accordingly, the aim of the study is to provide a value proposition for bus service providers to overcome the problem of overloading. This new business model can also be a reference to other bus stations or institutions for future use.
The main objectives of this study are (1) The research of Taoyuan Airport Corporation and associated bus companies in relation to the increasing visitor numbers to the country; (2) The fit between the current model, adjusted business model and the customer demand. This study used the business model canvas and the value proposition map to provide a process for solving the problems they face. Moreover, the research survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews, Delphi method, field observation and secondary data that were required for the case study research.
In relation to the case study: this study firstly analyzed the operations before the Bus-Ticket Integration and the problem of overloading. After the analysis, automatic ticket vending machines and ticket integration solutions were recommended for implementation. Secondly, this study made a value proposition research for visitor arrivals and bus companies. It was found that the current value proposition couldn’t meet the needs of visitor arrivals. As a result, this study started to investigate the fit between the customer profiles and the value map of the solution, and then made some adjustments. Finally, propose the adjusted value proposition and created the business model canvas accordingly.
This study also makes recommendations for solving the problems through a redesign of the business model. Firstly, the study must analyze and confirm the problem beforehand so as to come up with a good alternative solution; Secondly, through the value proposition map, we can identify the customer needs and adjust the unsatisfied aspect in order to get the final value proposition; Thirdly, we can use this adjusted value proposition to make the business model canvas. This study also contributes to other bus stations or institutions as a reference in practice. The one restricting aspect of the study that some of the data was not available so I had to simplify the problems and situations, and inferred from the secondary data analysis.

Facelift EDU / Facelift PDUTomoryová, Bianka January 2020 (has links)
The subject of the diploma thesis is an architectural study of the forecourt of the Dukovany Nuclear Power Station. The project is based on a pre-diploma project which aimed to develop an urban concept. At the moment the buildings in the area are in an unsuitable condition from a construction - technical and architectural perspective. The urban-architectural study was intended to create a new concept for the forecourt and simultaneously enable its efficient operation in case of the completion of a new nuclear unit. The concept of the solution is based on the removal of outdated buildings and their replacement with new buildings which will meet the current requirements of the Dukovany Nuclear Power Station. From the current layout the main roads, the gatehouse, the information center and the greenery will be preserved. After removing the selected buildings, the renovation area will be divided into the main axes on which the main road network will be designed. The unsuitable connection to public road infrastructure will be solved by minimizing the entrances to the area to two entrances and by moving the suburban bus station from the main road. After connecting the whole area by roads, the area will be divided into functional areas. In front of the gatehouse there will be a square surrounded by public services, an administrative building and by the preserved information center building. From this space, the main representative space of the entire complex will be created. Warehouses and workshops will be located behind the square. Transport areas will be located at the rear of the complex. Thanks to this location, there will be a good connection with the current factory and also with the planned completion of the new nuclear unit on the west of the area. There will also be educational and sport facilities in the complex. The kindergarten will be oriented towards the preserved greenery.
