Using geoprocessing tools and remote sensing information, this study aims to detect existing dams in the Quixaba Creek Basin, sub-basin of Pajeú River, and to delineate the hydraulic basin features of these dams efficiently, as well as compare Area x Capacity curves of the reservoirs registered in the Pajeú basin and currently used by the water management agencies, with the curves obtained by high resolution Digital Terrain Models. 79 dams were identified through orthophotos in the Quixaba Creek Basin, and based on the digital terrain models provided by the Pernambuco Tridimensional program and using GIS programs, simultaneous detection techniques were applied to existing dams in the study area, detecting 66.30% dams of the region correctly. Using the same programs and database, studies were carried out to identify hydraulic basins, in order to represent with greater fidelity the lakes formed by the reservoirs when filled. From the digital terrain models, the Area x Capacity curves of 29 reservoirs registered and inserted in the Pajeú basin were developed. The accumulation capacity of the combined dry reservoirs was 12.41% lower than that provided by the water resource managers.
