The socio-espacial formation and the geosystem paradigms, based on the inseparable junction of the natural environment and the environment created by the human beings were used as the theoritical referecence, offering the possibility to verify that changes in the economy of the municipality have come from the increasing division of the land into lats. This process has damaged the fragility of the ecosystem because the refered land division characterizes itself by the inadequate use of the local natural resources this inadequate use is due to the tojal back of political planning and inspection under the duty of the the organs responsible for the process of land occupation, for the land division in lots and for the use of the natural resources of the municipality of Barra do Sul Spa / O município de Balneário Barra do Sul, localizado na região norte-nordeste do estado de Santa Catarina, é um município de ocupação relativamente recente, porém apresenta na atualidade um acelerado crescimento populacional, fruto da nova dimensão econômica do município o turismo. Utilizando-se como referencial teórico alguns pressupostos da teoria de formação sócio-espacial e da teoria de geossistema que baseiam-se na inseparabilidade do meio natural e do meio produzido pelo homem, pode-se verificar que a recente mudança no enfoque econômico do município resulta em uma intensa abertura de loteamentos. Tal processo tem comprometido o frágil ecossistema local, pois esta ocupação se caracteriza pelo uso inadequado dos recursos naturais locais, resultado da ausência de políticas de planejamento e de fiscalização por parte dos órgãos responsáveis no que se refere ao processo de ocupação, parcelamento do solo, e uso dos recursos naturais no município
