Several team structures have been defined and used, but these structures generally define only the tasks and jobs required for the team. Various process and product metrics seek to improve quality, even though it is generally agreed that the greatest potential benefit lies in people issues. Upplevelsen av att hamna i en arbetsgrupp där gruppmedlemmarna inte förstår varandra eller klarar av att samarbeta är påfrestande. Oberoende av hur mycket ansträngningar som genomförs upplevs det som att framstegen uteblir. Vår kandiatuppsats, Teamrollers påverkan på teamkänslan och gruppdynamiken - en kvalitativ studie om Belbins rollteori, är en studie om teamroller i en arbetsgrupp. Syftet med studien är att undersöka en arbetsgrupps olika teamroller för att se om det påverkar gruppens arbete och den upplevda teamkänslan. Det finns många saker som påverkar en persons teamroll och upplevelsen av teamkänslan och gruppdynamiken. Som grund till studien har vi utgått från Belbins rollteori. För bredare perspektiv har närliggande teorier använts som komplement. För att stärka vårt resonemang behandlas även begrepp som grupper, gruppdynamik, teamwork och mångfald. För att kunna besvara syftet har vi valt en kvalitativ ansats. Åtta intervjuer genomfördes med ett resultat som antydde att teamrollen Specialist saknades. Respondenterna var eniga om att gruppen har en bra teamkänsla och gruppdynamik. Resultatet pekar på att gruppen är välfungerande trots att alla teamroller inte finns konstant. Studien visar att gruppen har tillgång till specialistrollen när det finns ett behov av den och därmed argumenterar vi för att den rollen inte behöver finnas konstant i den här arbetsgruppen. Utifrån vårt resultat går det att argumentera för att olikheter i en grupp skapar förutsättningar till ett välfungerande team där rollteori är en bra grund.

ANOTATION Diploma thesis name: Team roles in the youth team at the FK Motorlet Praha, s.r.o. football club. . Objectives: First goal of the thesis is to find within the youth team at the FK Motorlet Praha, s.r.o. football club particular team roles and assess their importance for the team and find out which role holds each player. Second goal is to examine common relations between particular team members and on the basis of such an examination to find out if there is any way how to increase and improve the efficiency of the team's cooperation. Method: Structured non-participant observation was used to observe the team under examination. All team members were asked to answer questions from the Belbin test. Relations between team members were detected by sociometric test. By using a non-standardised interview with head coach, results of the previous observation and interview were used. Results: Observation results indicate how particular team members behave in certain situations. Interview results show how team members assess themselves while fulfiling certain tasks. Finally sociometric test result indicates common relations between particular members of the team under review. Key words: Team, team role, team-building, Belbin test, sociometric test.

Title: Volunteering as an allocation of human resources in sports organizations Objectives: The objective of the thesis is to recommend the most suitable Belbin roles for job positions in sports organizations based on knowledge from research and literature. Methods: The thesis uses qualitative and quantitative research. Qualitative research will take place in the form of dialogue and subsequent discussion of the Focus Group with representatives of sports organizations. 9 respondents will participate in this group discussion. Quantitative research is conducted among volunteers in sports organizations through electronic surveys and the Click4Survey tool. The Belbin test is part of the questionnaire survey. The questionnaire survey includes a sample of 305 respondents. Results: The results of qualitative research show that the positions offered to volunteers include the positions of administrative worker, assistant, supervisor, organizer and coach. The results of quantitative research show that the most represented role in volunteers, according to Belbin's typology, is the role of the Implementer. There is no statistically significant relationship between the job position and the role of volunteers, however, based on the findings from research and literature, the author recommends the most suitable...

The application of Belbin's team role theory in information service enterprisesVan Heerden, Dalina Louise 11 September 2012 (has links)
M.Inf. / Belbin's team role theory is a popular team building tool. This study aims to establish whether Belbin's theory can be meaningfully applied to an information service enterprise. Belbin's team role theory is explained and its uniqueness, when compared with similar theories such as Margerison and McCann's team role theory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, is highlighted. Belbin's theory is then applied to a team in the Unisa Library to evaluate how the 'end-user', the trainee, views the value of this team role theory. Their views are then evaluated using a research/evaluation questionnaire. The findings are discussed and the conclusion is reached that Belbin's team role theory can be meaningfully applied in an information service enterprise. The feedback of the respondents indicates that they were satisfied with the accuracy and truthfulness of the results and that they were of the opinion that their team roles reflected their personalities rather than their values and culture. For them the main value lies in the renewed self-insight and increased self-confidence gained from the exercise. They also indicated its potential for improved cooperation and problem solving within team context. Furthermore they were confident that the team roles could be used when the reengineering plan is implemented in the Unisa Library. Finally it is recommended that team building needs to form an integral part of the reengineering implementation process. With regard to team development the need to focus on the 'task', 'team', 'individual' and the 'organisational context' is emphasised.

The thesis pertains to optimisation of workgroups in companies. It is based on the work of Dr. Meredith Belbin from the Henley Management College, who is the author of the so-called Belbin’s team role theory. The theory defines fundamental roles within a team including specifications of the behavioural patterns while stipulating that in order to ensure proper functionality of a team, it is essential for all the roles to be represented in it. However, in practice it is necessary for specific people to comply not only with certain personal and psychological requirements but also professional expertise and other requirements. Nevertheless, by the means of adding these parameters to specific people, an enormous number of possible alternatives of the resulting team, which may not be evaluated (easily and in the real time) using traditional methods, proves to come to existence. Therefore, the so-called genetic algorithms inspired by natural development processes originally described by J. G. Mendel and Ch. Darwin were selected for evaluation purposes. The genetic algorithms feature good solutions to the task to be resolved in a very short time while the task does not have to be based on exact specifications and therefore several solutions might exist. A Java application was created within the scope of the thesis; its core comprises a genetic algorithm and it was used for the purpose of modelling of specific teams. The results provided by the application were subsequently verified by the means of creation of teams used for completion of new tasks and monitoring their activities in practice. Furthermore, the model verification of teams previously created solely on the basis of experience of executives was performed and the respective results were compared.
