Blue Cool Connectivity box

Aerva, Manasa Reddy, Devendra Venkata Sai Mani, Chakradhar Ghantasala January 2017 (has links)
The invention of closed circuit television (CCTV) has initiated a new trend in high security by video surveillance. More recently, CCTV cameras have been incorporating wireless LAN technology for data transfer purposes by using on chip memory storage until the time of update. In this thesis, short range communication such as Bluetooth low energy (Bluetooth smart) is used in order to perform simple I/O applications. The two important components of the project are the camera and the Bluetooth module box. An external antenna is designed for the connectivity box and the operating range of the box is deduced by using link budget. The blue cool connectivity box is assessed by defining the capabilities of the box, i.e., simple I/O operations. Field test measurements for the designed antenna provide optimum communication range. The thesis also reviews software simulation tools that are essential for antenna design and path loss modelling. The efficiency of simulated measurements versus real-time measurements are also assessed. The primary target of the thesis is to detail the design of a cost-effective antenna based on link budget calculations and perform basic I/O tasks wirelessly between the blue cool connectivity box and the camera. It is concluded that in future works, advanced operations can be added on to the existing model. It is also suggested that a model for multi floor communication can be designed.

Indoor positioning utilizing Bluetooth Smart : A comparative study between trilateration and fingerprinting / Inomhuspositionering med Bluetooth Smart

Nygård, Niklas January 2015 (has links)
This thesis explores the possibilities of constructing an indoor positioning system based on Bluetooth Smart technology. Two non-trainable trilateration approaches and two trainable fingerprinting were implemented and evaluated at Mobiento's offices in Stockholm, Sweden. A trilateration approach is based on finding a sought location based on known distances towards know locations, at least three locations and distances are needed. A fingerprinting approach is based on creating a radio map, which describes transmission signals within the room, towards different transmitters. A set amount of coordinates are assigned a fingerprint. These are then used as reference points for a sought location. For each major approach, trilateration and fingerprinting, a weighted approach is conducted. These approaches are evaluated in a disturbance free environment in term of accuracy, implementation and setup. In terms of accuracy, the non-weighted fingerprinting approach performs slightly better than the weighted fingerprinting approaches. Both of these are more accurate than the trilateration approaches. When it comes to implementation and setup, the trilateration algorithms impose less cost. These allow for better scalability when the indoor environment becomes larger.

Internet of Things & Kommunikationsprotokoll / Internet of Things & Communication Protocol

Sabel, Ida January 2015 (has links)
By studying different communication protocols respond to what it is that makes a certain protocol best suited for use between mobile devices and IoT devices. This study used a qualitative literature study to create a proper theoretical background and an experimental study where two theories were investigated in whether they matched wih the results from the reality. The five factors compatibility, battery loss, frequency, range and reliability were investigated in the communication protocols Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Near field communication (NFC) and Wi-Fi, these three because they are supported by newer mobile platforms today. The communication protocols were then analysed against various uses in the IoT, since the claim what it is that makes it best suited depends on what the situation requires. A system developer that is about to select the communication protocol to use in an IoT application and reads this study should compare the different protocols to each other within the five factors to determine which protocol is best suited for his situation. This study only performed experimental studies on BLE because of limitations in the equipment. Additional experiments on NFC and Wi-Fi would provide a wider perspective.

Korsplattformskommunikation med Bluetooth Low Energy / Crossplatformcommunication with Bluetooth Low Energy

Lindberg, Johan January 2014 (has links)
This project investigated the current market regarding wireless net and the communication between the tools used for diagnostics/maintenance and an embedded system. Based on documentation obtained through interviews a demo system was created based on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication between an embedded system and an Android device. This report intends to describe the tools and methods used in the design of the demo system and the result of an analysis of the BLE communication. Bluetooth Low Energy is an exciting protocol with wide applicability within the industrial field. This project investigated the communicational possibilities between a Smartphone and a Raspberry Pi and based on the results that emerged the conclusion can be drawn that BLE is a protocol with many beneficial applications within industrial IT.
