The Built Environment & Transit User Experience at Semi-Outdoor Emerald Express Bus Rapid Transit StationsRasool, Sundas 01 May 2017 (has links)
This research studied the relationship between transit users’ travel experience and the built environment bus rapid transit (BRT) stations. The study recorded attributes of the built environment and user perceptions at eight Emerald Express stations between Eugene and Springfield, Oregon as case studies. It found that of the attributes studied, transit users’ satisfactions of pedestrian accessibility had strong correlations with their preference of using EmX over a car. It also found that users perceived stations in built environments with spare street shading and commercial land-uses as less safe, and were also less satisfied with weather protection at stations with low street shading. The study found Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) and Predicted Mean Votes (PMV) to mostly identify the same categories of thermal stress. The study developed a rating system to evaluate station performance based on quantitative attributes and suggests short and long term improvements to improve semi-outdoor bus stations.

A estação rodoviária de Jaú e a dimensão urbana da arquitetura / The bus terminal of Jaú and the urban dimension of architectureIwamizu, Cesar Shundi 09 May 2008 (has links)
The Bus Terminal of Jaú was designed by architect João Batista Vilanova Artigas in 1973 and it is distinctive for its ingenious structural solution and for its precise insertion into the urban fabric. Starting from the study of the relationship between the building and the city, the research has been extended to fifteen projects that Artigas has created in Jaú during the period of ten years. Interesting to note is that these years corresponded to his increased involvement with projects of urban character, despite his forced retirement from the University by the military dictatorship. Organized in two basic readings The design of the Floor and The design of the Ceiling this thesis also analyzes other projects created by Artigas since the beginning of his professional activities, in an attempt to understand the synthesis found in the project of the Bus Terminal of Jaú.

Zastřešení autobusové stanice / Roof Structure of Bus StationRoušar, Martin January 2012 (has links)
The scope of the thesis is to design a roof substructure bus station in the area of Vysoké Mýto. The structure is designed of steel S355. This is the platform on the roof of two islands. The thesis has been processed by solving two variants, each variant were considered the main structural elements and then comparison was made between the two variants. Of these, one variant was selected for further processing. The first variant has a plan shape of a triangle with maximum dimensions of 58.00 m x 26,75 m. The main load-bearing structure consists of steel columns and girders of rolled sections, or HEB of castellated beams. The girders is the roof structure from rolled I profiles. Covering the roof is designed from the glass with supporting substructure of aluminum profiles. Rigidity is ensured in two ways braces of steel bars. The second option (which was selected for further processing) is L - shaped ground plan with maximum dimensions of 55,25 m x 33.40 m. The main supporting structure is made of rolled steel frames, HEB profiles and rods of steel bars. Supporting roof structure is designed of steel rolled I profiles. Roofing is again solved using the glass structure of aluminum profiles. Rigidity is ensured in two ways braces of steel bars.
