These changes have occurred within the political and economic spectrum and include factors such as trade and tariff agreements, changes in labour legislation, exports, illegal imports which has impacted on the organisation. A framework on strategic management was developed highlighting the factors necessary for strategy development, key issues in the external enviroment, strategic capabilities, organisational structure and culture and leadership issues. A Comprehensive Competitive Advantage Construct: Its Theory and Operationalization

Yates, George C. (George Cochrane) 05 1900 (has links)
Competitive advantage (CA) is an intuitively evident concept which has been widely used in theoretical research in strategy. But CA's diffuse image and its dynamic nature make it a difficult concept to apply. The purpose of this study was to develop a comprehensive (or macro) CA construct capable of being applied in an empirical manner across a broad spectrum of business situations. This objective required both an adequate grounding of the CA concept within its nomological- net of theories and a new operationalization approach.

Strategic Planning Systems their Effectiveness in Strategy Formulation in the Electronic Computing Equipment Industry

Ugboro, Isaiah Oghale 12 1900 (has links)
This study examined the effectiveness of strategic planning systems in strategy formulation in a changing business environment. It also investigated differences in the designs, processes, levels of top management involvement, and perceived levels of achievement and performance of the strategic planning systems of companies classified as leaders, challengers, followers, and nichers in the electronic computing equipment community. For the most part no significant correlations were found between perceived levels of achievement and performance of planning systems and organizational performance measured by financial ratios. However, significant correlations were found between perceived level of achievement and performance and the design, process and level of top management involvement in the strategic planning process.

И., Kolyshkin, M. I. January 2020 (has links)
Existing standards and methods of business planning are universal in nature, regardless of whether they are used for a newly created business or for the implementation of projects in existing production. The lack of well-developed methodological recommendations that take into account the specifics of the formation and implementation of business plans for existing production determined the choice of the topic of the dissertation. The purpose of the thesis: improving the methodological approach to the development of business plans in existing production. Research Objectives: study of the theoretical and methodological foundations of business planning, analysis of foreign and Russian experience in business planning in the framework of existing production; development of a methodological approach to business planning at the existing production, testing of the developed methodological approach at the LLC «Ekomash + Ural» enterprise, assessment of its economic efficiency. A methodological approach to business planning at the existing production is proposed, including an updated scheme for the implementation of the stages of developing a business plan with identification of the specifics of each stage for the existing production and methodological recommendations for the implementation of individual stages, which allows to increase the efficiency of projects and production and business activities carried out at the enterprise whole. Using this technique at the LLC «Ekomash + Ural» enterprise allowed increasing the load factor of equipment, reducing the cost of purchasing materials and raw materials, as well as wages for employees.
