Development of software package for event driven execution of multivariate modelsJohnsson, Tomas January 2010 (has links)
<p>The BoardModel™ software system is today used as a visualization of, for example, logging of parameters in production and real-time predictions of responses such as formaldehyde emission or moisture content. The system is time based and consists of four main programs, the BMDC (saves and sends the incoming values), the View (shows the result to the screen), the Server (calculates the result) and the HDB exporter (export values to a text file).</p><p>This project aims at doing BoardModel™ event based and implement a new interface where the results can be shown. The need of the Server and the View programs in offline applications will be unnecessary, this will make the whole system much easier to use.</p><p>To make the system event based, SIMCA-QP from Umetrics AB will be used as calculating engine. An interface in C code which communicates with SIMCA-QP will be made. All other changes to the program will be made in C++.</p><p>The final version of the new BoardModel™ is event based, has support for multiple models and multiple y variables. The system also has the opportunity to send the calculated results as OPC. The new BoardModel™ consists only of BMDC with an inbuilt exporter and a new interface where the results are shown.</p> / <p>BoardModel™ är ett mjukvarusystem som används för att visa till exempel värden av parametrar i produktionen och realtidsprediktering av bland annat formaldehyd och fukthalt.

Sociologically imagined: the decentering of C. Wright Mills, the postmodern cowboyKerr, Keith Thomas 16 December 2009 (has links)
Examining early biographical events in C. Wright Mills’ life, along with his relationships to his family, some of whom he denied as even being family later in his life, the following study demonstrates a link between the early psychological traumas of a young Mills and the strong impact these had on his later intellectual thought. Such an approach looms as potentially important and beneficial in gaining insight into Mills’ theoretical positions when we turn to academics such as Alice Miller, Sigmund Freud and C.G. Jung who demonstrate the lasting and shaping impact that early psychological development has on the thoughts, ideas and expressions of older adults. Even for empirical-based sociologists who may be hesitant to accept psychoanalytic explanations, it is difficult to reject this position outright. Even within sociology’s own house, Max Weber, Talcott Parsons, David Riesman and C. Wright Mills also utilize basic psychoanalytic insights in their sociological writings. Using Mills’ psychological development as an entry point, this work demonstrates the similarities between Mills’ early biographical trajectory and its psychological impact on his later life as compared to very similar developments in the lives of Friedrich Nietzsche, Thorstein Veblen and Weber. Ultimately, we come to see that not only is Mills’ early psychological development similar to these earlier thinkers, but his intellectual thought later in his life is similar as well.

Att leva med stigmatisering vid hepatit C / To live with the stigma of hepatitis CGunnarsson, Sofia, Lindgren, Eva January 2010 (has links)

In studies of serum, in the early 1930s, from patients with pneumonia, a factor was found. It could agglutinate certain pneumococcal species. This factor, which later became known as C-reactive protein (CRP), increased sharply during the early and middle stages of the disease. CRP was identified as an acute phase protein and found especially in bacterial infections. CRP is synthesized in the liver by stimulation of interleukin 6 (IL-6), which is produced by the monocytes, and consists of five non-covalently bound subunits. The aim of this study was to compare two different analytical instruments (Vitros 5.1 FS Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics and QuikRead CRP Orion Diagnostica) for CRP analysis. In this study, Vitros 5.1 FS is used as a reference instrument. QuikRead CRP is a small instrument intended for patient-near testing. Vitros 5.1 FS (Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics a Johmon-Johmon Company, Rochester, NY, U.S.A) is a fully automated instrument for measuring various analytes of clinical importance in body fluids. For analysis of CRP, plasma is used. The amount of CRP is obtained by measuring turbidity at a specific wavelength in an Immuno-turbidimetric reaction. QuikRead CRP (Orion Diagnostica, Espoo, Finland) is an immuno-turbidimetric test in which micro-particles coated with anti-human CRP are used to measure the amount of CRP in whole blood, plasma or serum. Comparison between Vitros 5.1 FS and QuikRead CRP for the P-CRP analysis shows a good correlation (R= 0.997) of the mean value from the analysis I, II and III. An intercept of -8.52 shows a decrease in the values of CRP for QuikRead comparatively Vitros 5.1 FS. Bland-Altman-plot shows a slightly increased spread of results. Paired T-test shows that Vitros 5.1 FS and QuikRead CRP does not produces the same results. This study shows that QuikRead CRP is a user-friendly instrument that fits well in near patient testing. QuikRead CRP and Vitros 5.1 FS did not give the same results of P-CRP. This does not affect the results in regards to distinguish a viral infection (10-50 mg / L) from a bacterial infection (> 100 mg / L).
