A framework for the implementation of design assistances for preliminary concept design of laboratories

Sheward Garcia, Hugo A. 21 September 2015 (has links)
A framework for the implementation of automated ventilation systems engineering was proposed. An extensive research in the area of design guidelines and best practices for the design and operations of laboratories was conducted. a software prototype was created to better support the integration of ventilation engineering to early design stages was created. New methodologies for enhancing the semantics and for deriving building morphology information from early design BIM models were created. The prototype software was tested using as reference currently available practices. Findings concerning the speed of operation, the extended capabilities of the proposed framework and the implication for future research are discussed.

Utrustning för automatmontering av ackumulator

Hjalmarsson, Olle, Likar, Thomas January 2007 (has links)
This report deals with an exam report written by Olle Hjalmarsson and Thomas Likar, students at Högskolan i Halmstad. The project was carried out for Haldex Traction AB in Landskrona whose business consist of manufacturing automatic all wheel drive systems (AWD-system). These systems consist of a plate clutch which activates all four wheels of a 4-wheel driven vehicle. An important component in these clutches is the accumulator which basically consists of a piston under the load of a spring which creates an oil pressure with the help of an electric motor used for actuating the clutch. At Haldex difficulties has been experienced regarding the assembly of the accumulator parts due to the small tolerances between the piston and the hole of the accumulator in the cast aluminium housing. Attempts have been made to assemble the parts in existing robot cells. The precision was however not sufficient and the pistons have sometimes ripped of pieces of the housing containing the accumulator, damages which in turn have caused leakage in the accumulator valves. Before the project was started a machine was manufactured for the assembly of the accumulator. This solution resulted in a hand operated machine which in an ergonomically point of view proved to be unsuitable. There was a need for a new machine or even a new method of assembling. The project followed a dynamic product development process which was initiated with an analysis of existing equipment at the plant in Landskrona. Seven different concepts were presented to the company and one was chosen for further development. The project resulted in a design of a semi automatic machine controlled by different types of pneumatic cylinders. The final design of the machine still contained some manual steps but the ones that were likely to result in injury were eliminated. The report that was finished in December 2006 contains lists of details of chosen components and drawings of all components that need to be manufactured.

Fundament för kompaktkran : En universell lösning / Compact crane support frame : A universal solution

Zetterman, Tommy January 1900 (has links)
This thesis describes the universalization, improvement and further development of a compact crane support frame for flatbed trucks. The work has been conducted at El och Fordonsteknik AB (henceforth EFAB) in Uppsala. The aim of the work has been to shorten the assembly time of the product. By doing so, the product can be kept on shelf, which in turn results in shorter lead time. This has been done by universalizing the support frame to be compatible with most of the chassis EFAB works with. Additionally, the entire construction has been made lighter, which will make it a more attractive choice for customers. A pre-study was conducted and information was gathered internally, as well as externally, in order to ascertain that no limitation or possibility was overlooked during the course of the project. One such limitation has been the geometry of the truck bed that the support frame shall be compatible with. This has set the focus of the project more towards further developing and improving the already existing product rather than developing a brand new one. The project has resulted in a compact crane support frame that fits eight different chassis and is 22 kg lighter than its predecessor. The assembly time has been approximated to 60 % of that of the original product. No prototype test has been conducted due to the lack of a suitable vehicle and time. However, theoretical comparisons done through the use of 3D CAD and FEA suggest that the new support frame is a worthy replacement for the previous one.

Direct Synthesis of Netlists into Pre-routed FPGAs

Di Matteo, Daniel 25 June 2014 (has links)
This thesis introduces a new approach to compilation for FPGAs, which we call direct synthesis. We take a technology-mapped circuit netlist and directly map it into a pre-placed and routed FPGA overlay. Solving this problem may help to address the increasing portion of compile time that is attributed to placement and routing, and the tremendous amount of area and energy consumed by the highly flexible FPGA routing network. This thesis presents a direct synthesis algorithm and an algorithm for generating the pre-placed and routed FPGA overlays. Using the direct synthesis flow which we have designed, we can successfully map circuits less than 100 BLEs in size, after modest modi cations to the architecture of the FPGA overlay circuit. While we show that direct synthesis problem is challenging, further architectural modi cations are proposed which can allow the direct synthesis of larger circuits to succeed.
