The 2G method applied in a post-usage evaluation application

Zaxmy, Hanna January 2003 (has links)
<p>There exist several methods, which can be used for evaluation of commercially available CASE-tools. Each method has its own focus and is based on specific underlying assumptions. There have been attempts to standardise evaluation of CASE-tools; however available methods differs much from each other.</p><p>One such method, named the 2G method has been proposed, which for each application, will establish a specific evaluation framework. This framework is tailored to the organisation at a specific point in time (since an organisation will change over time). The method consists of two phases which are iterated a sufficient number of times before a stable evaluation framework will be the result. The 2G method has been successfully applied on several applications in different organisations, though only for evaluation of CASE-tools before adoption. In this dissertation we report on an application of the 2G method, which aims to evaluate a CASE-tool from a company context which has already adopted a CASE-tool. As part of this method application the 2G method has also been transferred to the organisation.</p><p>An additional issue this dissertation addresses is what kind of support a general Qualitative Research Tool will offer a method user when using the tool in a 2G method application. Likewise the goal includes to establish is what is poorly or unsupported in such tool in a 2G application.</p><p>This dissertation will show that the 2G method is applicable also in a scenario where a CASE-tool has already been adopted, and therefore demonstrate that the method also is useful in evaluation studies performed after a CASE-tool has been adopted in an organisation. From the experiences of the application points will be made concerning what kind of support one would like to have in a qualitative research tool to simplify the work during the 2G applications.</p>

UML CASE įrankio išplėtimas duomenų vientisumo reikalavimų kodo generavimui / UML CASE tool extension for generating code for implementation of integrity requirements

Blaževič, Valdemar 11 August 2008 (has links)
Šiame darbe sprendžiamos grafinio vientisumo reikalavimų vaizdavimo loginiuose duomenų modeliuose bei jų kodo realizavimo problemos. Sprendžiant šiuos uždavinius, buvo analizuojami vientisumo reikalavimų tipai, UML plėtimo mechanizmai bei esamos vientisumo reikalavimų įgyvendinimo CASE įrankiuose galimybės.Vientisumo reikalavimus UML modeliuose galima užrašyti OCL kalba, tačiau OCL yra per sudėtinga daugeliui projektuotojų. Be to, SQL kodo generavimas iš OCL kol kas nėra efektyvus. Šio magistrinio darbo tikslas yra padidinti UML CASE įrankių duomenų bazių projektavimo galimybes, sukuriant vientisumo reikalavimų vaizdavimo ir kodo generavimo priemones. / Fulfillment of data integrity constraint requirements is one of main problems in information system development process. The constraints are implemented at physical system development level. Despite the fact that most of current UML CASE tools allow to specify constraints using OCL language, for the most of system analytics and architects use of OCL is too complicated. Currently SQL code generated from OCL constraint implementation is not effective. In this study we will present alternative approach for constraint requirement implementation using UML2 extension possibilities – profiles and stereotypes with tag values. Also we will present SQL code generation template language and code template based constraint requirement transformation to SQL code algorithm. It was used to extend UML Case tool MagicDraw.

Visual Composition In Component Oriented Development

Ozturk, Murat Mutlu 01 August 2005 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis introduces a visual composition approach for JavaBeans components, in compliance with the Component Oriented Software Engineering (COSE) process. The graphical modeling tool, COSECASE, is enhanced with the ability to build a system by integrating domain-specific components. Such integration is implemented by defining connection points and interaction details between components. The event model of the JavaBeans architecture is also added to the capabilities.

Model-Driven Development (MDD) is a paradigm that uses models as the primary artifact in the systems development process. That is, in this paradigm, models are not only documentation artifacts, since these should be the executable code. In Spatial Databases projects (SDB), there are several modeling languages (e.g., OMT-G, MADS, GeoProfile and UML-GeoFrame), which allow to represent spatial characteristics (e.g., Multiple Representations and Spatial Relationship) by means of a tool type Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE). Although these languages are better exploited and widespread in the literature, it was found that they have deficiencies in modeling and implement spatial integrity from entities with multiple representations. Thus, in order to advance the state of the art in SDB project, this paper analyzes the main works related and, in order to contribute to overcome the deficiencies, proposes a spatial extension for modeling language Enhanced Entity Relationship (EER). This extension is implemented in tool EERCASE and evaluated through a comparison with the main work related, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses.

Jedan pristup generisanju izvršnih softverskih specifikacija informacionog sistema / An Approach to Generating Executable Software Specifications of an Information System

Banović Jelena 13 May 2010 (has links)
Time je omogućeno&nbsp;da se, u vrlo kratkom roku, izgeneriše funkcionalan&nbsp;korisnički interfejs za prikaz i ažuriranje podataka.</p> / <p>The aim of the research presented in this work is a modeling and&nbsp;formal presentation of an approach to the problem of generating&nbsp;executable software specifications of an information system. A&nbsp;specification of common user interface models is provided by&nbsp;defining the appropriate repository definitions. Practical application&nbsp;of the approach is provided by the implementation of an&nbsp;application generator as a part of IIS*Case tool. It provides&nbsp;automated generation of the prototypes that are very close to the&nbsp;final implementation of the system applications. By this, it is&nbsp;possible to efficiently generate dynamic user interface for data&nbsp;presentation and database update operations.</p>

Proposal of a model for logical graphic projects for ORDB with implementation in the ArgoUML.

Castro, Thiago Rais de 18 April 2011 (has links)
A Logical Graphic Model was proposed to support the Logical Design phase in ORDB. The Logical Graphic Model proposed is an extension of the UML Class Diagram. The extension was obtained by the elaboration of a UML Profile, which was released in XMI to be used in CASE tools from different manufacturers. Two modules were developed for ArgoUML CASE tool. These modules were designed to automate the development in ORDB, where, from a logical graphic, projected using the proposed Logical Graphic Model, creates the code standard SQL: 2003 and the SQL dialect used by Oracle 11g. An architecture based on the ANSI / SPARC and MDA for the project in ORDBs was proposed. This architecture associates the Project phases with the technologies used to support them. Through this architecture, the contributions of this paper and the subjects that will be target for future researches are highlighted. This dissertation diffuses the existing resources in ORDBs and facilitates the development of the Logical Design in ORDB, by disposing the proposed graphic model and automating its development in the ArgoUML CASE tool.

O processo é apoiado pela ferramenta GCL-Tool (Goal and Context for Product Line - Tool). / GS2SPL (Goals and Scenarios to Software Product Lines) is a process aimed at systematically obtaining a feature model and the specification of use case scenarios from goal models of a Software Product Line (SPL). Moreover, this process allows configuring specific applications of an SPL based on the fulfillment of non-functional requirements (NFRs). However, this configuration is performed without considering the context state in which the system will be deployed. This is a limitation because a configuration may not meet the needs of stakeholders. On the other hand, E-SPL (Early Software Product Line) is a process that allows configuring a product aimed maximizing the fulfillment of NFRs and taking into account the context state. To overcome the limitation of the GS2SPL process, in this work we propose extension of the GS2SPL process, to incorporate the configuration activity of the E-SPL. The new process is called GSC2SPL (Goals, Scenarios and Contexts to Software Product Lines), which allows obtaining a feature model and use case scenarios from contextual goal models. The process will also allow the configuration of such requirements artifacts based on the information about the context and aiming to maximize the fulfillment of non-functional requirements. The process is supported by the GCL-Tool (Goal and Context for Product Line - Tool). The process was applied to the specification of two LPS: Media@ and the Smart Home.
