Considerando que a dinâmica urbana constrói-se por meio de práticas materiais e simbólicas, evidenciaram-se conflitos inevitáveis entre os interesses dos grupos que compõem os diversos níveis da realidade - o da dominação política, o da acumulação do capital e o da realização da vida humana. O exame dessas políticas e da ação de diversos atores sociais buscou captar determinados aspectos da dinâmica urbana que passariam despercebidos, se enquadrados exclusivamente pelo enfoque das ações de planejamento urbano, sobretudo no que se refere à refuncionalização das formas-conteúdo da cidade orientados pela lógica do capital. Nessa perspectiva, o trabalho analisou os projetos de intervenção propostos pelo Estado e sua aliança com os setores privados, que agem de maneira estratégica visando à reprodução do capital e à produção de um espaço dominado, homogêneo, fragmentado e hierarquizado. Analisou ainda as representações do centro da cidade de Campinas, para identificar, descrever, refletir e interpretar as experiências de usos e apropriação do espaço cotidiano, do seu patrimônio histórico e das transformações urbanas em curso, pois se acredita que essas representações são uma ferramenta valiosa para o agenciamento de ideias que presidem as ações de planejamento urbano / Abstract: Assuming that the reproduction of the urban space process is a consequence of horizontal and vertical vectors, the purpose of this research was to analyze aspects of the dynamic transformation of urban centers and also to focus on studying the interventions and representations which acts on the reproduction process of the urban space in the center of the city of Campinas. Considering that the urban dynamics is constructed through materials and symbolic practices, it was highlighted the inevitable conflicts among groups that make the various levels of the society such as: the political domination, the accumulation of capital and the realization of human life. The analysis of these policies and the action of a variety of social actors tried to capture some aspects of urban dynamics that are not perceived when focused only by the actions of urban planning, especially when referred to the "form-content" of the city to the new functions influenced by the logic of capital. From this perspective, this study analyzed the projects intervention proposed by the State and its alliance with the private sector, which act strategically in order to reproduce the capital and to produce a dominated, homogeneous, fragmented and hierarchical space. Also, it analyzed the representations in the center of the city of Campinas, to identify, describe, reflect and interpret the uses and appropriation experiences of everyday space, of their historical heritage and their urban transformation in progress.
