It s still seeks to investigate the contribution and Campus II'S importance for the Area Tocantina, besides establishing critics to your performance and the absence of a Pedagogic Project. The work still makes an approach about the education in Brazil in your principal periods, preceding to the analysis of the juridical teaching in Brazil, in that it will be discoursed on your origin, evolution and the transformations and reforms, as well as on the problems and the crisis that he has been facing along the years, besides to show the elements that propitiate rediscovered of your role in the society. Related to the methodology, it was adopted the qualitative approach, in order to give the possibility of understanding the topic, once this research was not limited by the choose of data collect instruments, but moreover it went throughout the analysis and interpretation of the information into the process of investigation, which allowed toreceive the mandatory critics from the material that was collected in this research. Through this way, the data collect was developed by bibliographic research, documental analysis and demi-structurated interviews. Finally, the work presents the results of the research and it concludes demonstrating that, in spite of the difficulties faced in all your path, the Campus II (Imperatriz) has been giving great contribution for the Area Tocantina, what denotes your importance, once it democratized the juridical teaching in that area. / O presente trabalho tem por objetivo central o resgate da história do ensino jurídico da Universidade Federal do Maranhão, em especial o Campus II (Imperatriz), fazendo uma análise tendente a discutir, dentre outros assuntos, os motivos que determinaram a vinda do ensino jurídico a Imperatriz, sua criação e implantação em Imperatriz, o primeiro vestibular e o início do curso de Direito; as dificuldades enfrentadas no início de sua implantação. Visa ainda investigar a contribuição e a importância do Campus II para a Região Tocantina, além de estabelecer críticas à sua atuação e à ausência de um Projeto Pedagógico. O trabalho faz ainda uma abordagem sobre a educação no Brasil em seus principais períodos, antecedendo à análise do ensino jurídico no Brasil, em que será discorrido sobre sua origem, evolução e as transformações e reformas, bem como sobre os problemas e as crises que ele tem enfrentado ao longo dos anos, além de apresentar os elementos que propiciam a redescoberta de seu papel na sociedade. No tocante à metodologia, optou-se pela abordagem qualitativa, a fim de possibilitar a compreensão do tema, uma vez que a pesquisa não se limitou apenas à escolha de instrumentos de coleta de dados, mas, sobretudo, perpassou pela análise e interpretação das informações coletadas no processo de investigação, o que permitiu ainda que se fizessem críticas a partir do que foi colhido na pesquisa. Por sua vez, a coleta de dados foi desenvolvida através de pesquisa bibliográfica, análise documental e entrevistas semi-estruturadas. Por fim, o trabalho apresenta os resultados da pesquisa e conclui demonstrando que, apesar das dificuldades enfrentadas em toda a sua trajetória, o Campus II (Imperatriz) tem dado grande contribuição para a Região Tocantina, o que denota sua importância, uma vez que democratizou o ensino jurídico nessa região.
