Esta dissertação investiga a representação do imigrante alemão no Rio Grande do Sul em O Continente (1949), de Erico Verissimo. Para tanto, analisa os recursos narrativos empregados pelo escritor na construção da personagem imaginária e aborda a importância do texto literário ao propor uma perspectiva do processo histórico.
