A análise prioriza as práticas políticas empregadas pelos potentados locais como forma de preservação hegemônica do poder frente aos dispositivos normativos da administração colonial portuguesa na Capitania do Ceará. O estudo é ancorado no campo teórico das novas abordagens conceituais da História do poder político, disposta nos temas da história dos poderes locais e da administração da justiça colonial que norteiam todo o estudo. O objetivo central é analisar as relações de poder entre os potentados locais e os representantes da administração da justiça na Capitania do Ceará na primeira metade do Século XVIII. Especificamente o estudo caracteriza os principais aspectos da Capitania do Ceará no processo de consolidação da administração colonial portuguesa, identificando a constituição do poder local no Ceará e da instituição dos poderes formais da administração colonial na referida Capitania. Objetiva também, investigar as relações de força entre os potentados locais e os representantes da administração portuguesa em meio aos conflitos de jurisdição no controle administrativo da Capitania do Ceará. / The work examines the consolidation of the local power in the political and administrative control in the Captaincy of Ceará between the period of 1699 and 1748. The analysis focuses on the political practices adopted by the local potentates as a strategy of hegemonic preservation of power in relation to the normative devices of the Portuguese colonial administration in the Captaincy of Ceará. The work is anchored in the theoretical field of the New Political History, based on the conceptual framework of History of political power, disposed on the historical themes of the local powers and the administration of colonial court which lead all the study. The main aim is to investigate the power relationships between the local potentates and the administrators of the court in the Captaincy of Ceará in the XVIII century. More specifically, the study points out the main aspects of the Captaincy of Ceará during the consolidation process of the Portuguese colonial administration, identifying the formation of the local power in Ceará and the institution of the formal powers in the Captaincy. Moreover, the study investigates the balance of power between the local potentates and the representatives of the Portuguese administration among conflicts of jurisdiction in the administrative control of the Captaincy of Ceará.
