Aqui, estudou-se a estrutura testicular, a espermatogênese, a espermiogênese e a ultraestrutura dos espermatozóides de Astyanax jordani, Astyanax bockmanni, Astyanax fasciatus, Deuterodon singularis, Hyphessobrycon anisitsi, Hyphessobrycon bifasciatus, Hyphessobrycon columbianus, Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi, Hyphessobrycon sp., Inpaichthys kerri, Oligosarcus paranensis, Pristella maxillaris, Bryconella pallidifrons, Paracheirodon axelrodi, Gymnocorymbus ternetzi, Gymnocorymbus sp.n., Moenkhausia oligolepis, Moenkhausia bonita, Moenkhausia dichroura, Markiana nigripinnis, Boehlkea fredcochui, Bryconamericus exodon, Creagrutus sp. e Piabina Anhembi. Within this group are many taxonomic/phylogenetic problems. Most of these genera, until recently, belonged to the subfamily Tetragonopterinae, but given the lack of evidences supporting its monophyly, only Tetragonopterus, its type genus, is currently assigned to this subfamily. The knowledge of the phylogenetic relationships between Characidae and former Tetragonopterinae genera are based mainly on osteological features and soft parts. It is known that the reproductive traits may contain phylogenetic information. This study describes the structure, spermatogenesis, the espermiogênese and ultraestrutura the sperm of Astyanax jordani, Astyanax bockmanni, Astyanax fasciatus, Deuterodon singularis, Hyphessobrycon anisitsi, Hyphessobrycon bifasciatus, Hyphessobrycon columbianus, Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi, Hyphessobrycon sp., Inpaichthys kerri, Oligosarcus paranensis, Pristella maxillaris, Bryconella pallidifrons, Paracheirodon axelrodi, Gymnocorymbus ternetzi, Gymnocorymbus sp.n., Moenkhausia oligolepis, Moenkhausia bonita, Moenkhausia dichroura, Markiana nigripinnis, Boehlkea fredcochui, Bryconamericus exodon, Creagrutus sp. and Piabina anhembi. With the raised data, a list of characters was provided in order to standardize the descriptions in a systematic analysis. The sperm ultrastructure of the examined species is very diverse and reflects the complexity of the group, as already pointed out by different authors. The sperm of Tetragonopterus argenteus resembles, in general, to the sperm of all other examined taxa, except for Gymnocorymbus ternetzi, Gymnocorymbus sp.n. and Bryconamericus exodon, Markiana nigripinnis, Boehlkea...
