Analýza úkonů řízení vozidel u starších řidičů / Analysis of older drivers' vehicle driving behaviourMaršálek, Lukáš January 2020 (has links)
This master’s thesis is focused on elderly drivers‘ behavior in various traffic situations and its comparison with a group of drivers in their productive years. The first part of the thesis compiles the current state of knowledge of the matter with a focus on age-related changes in driver performance. The analytical part is dedicated to the evaluation of the data collected from test drive video recordings. The data is evaluated to determine time spent on risk area assessments and habits of the groups. The added value and possible limitations given by the methodology are evaluated in the final part of the thesis.

Implementing an Intelligent Alarm System in Intensive Care UnitsKilinc, Derya, Ghattas, Mattias January 2016 (has links)
Today’s intensive care units monitor patients through the use of various medical devices, which generate a high ratio of false positive alarms due to a low alarm specificity. The false alarms have resulted in a stressful working environment for healthcare professionals that are getting more desensitized to triggered alarms and causing alarm fatigue. The patient safety is also compromised by having high noise levels in the patient room, which disturbs their sleep. This thesis has developed an intelligent alarm system with an improved alarm management and the use of 23 intelligent algorithms to minimize the number of false positive alarms. The suggested system is capable of improving the alarm situation and increasing the patient safety in critical care. The algorithms were modeled with fuzzy logics consisting of delays and multi parameter validation. The results were iteratively developed by having focus groups with various experts.

Relationship Between Transformational Leadership and Perceived Meaning in WorkJones, Denise 01 January 2019 (has links)
Researchers have conducted correlational studies on transformational leadership and perceived meaning in work; however, researchers have not used an experimental design to examine the relationship between transformational leadership and perceived meaning in work. The purpose of this study was to determine whether reading information on transformational leadership, which focused on charisma and individualized consideration, influenced participants' hypothetical judgment of perceived meaning in work. The quantitative study included a 2 x 2 between-subjects design in which information on the independent variables of charisma and individualized consideration was manipulated in a description of a hypothetical leader. The dependent variable was the hypothetical judgment of meaning in work based on the hypothetical description of the leader. The study was a randomized experiment including survey data from 106 participants. Data were analyzed using a 2-way ANOVA. Findings showed reading information on charisma significantly increased participants' perceived meaning in work whereas reading information on individualized consideration decreased participants' perceived meaning in work. Findings may help organizations hire transformational leaders who possess charisma and have the ability to develop followers to become future leaders.

Thermal and Fluidic Characterization of Tesla Valve Via Computational Fluid DynamicsPorwal, Piyush 07 May 2016 (has links)
Tesla valve applications for passive flow enhancement in micro fluidic applications are promising, because of its design of no-moving-parts. The effectiveness of the valve (measured via its pressure and thermal diodicity) can be increased by creating a multi-staged Tesla valve. Present study investigates the effect of varying Reynolds number (25-200) on flow rectification and thermal enhancement capability of a Tesla valve. Gamboa Morris Forster (GMF) design with a cross-section of 1mm2 and constant valve-to-valve distance (1mm) was utilized for this research. An arbitrary fluid with constant properties at a reference temperature was used as the working fluid. Periodicity in flow and thermal distribution are noticed in the latter part of MSTV. Average friction factor and pressure diodicity decreased with increasing Reynolds number whereas average Nusselt number and thermal diodicity increased. Correlations for friction factor, pressure diodicity, Nusselt number, and thermal diodicity were derived by fitting a non-linear curve fit model.

Examination of posterior predictive check and bootstrap as population model validation toolsDesai, Amit V. 01 January 2008 (has links) (PDF)
Drug development is time consuming, expensive with high failure rates. It takes 10-15 years for a drug to go from discovery to approval, while the mean cost of developing a drug is $1.5 billions dollars. Pharmacometric models (PM) play a pivotal role in knowledge driven drug development and these models require validation prior to application. The purpose of the current study was to evaluate the posterior predictive check (PPC) and the bootstrap as population model validation tools. PPC was evaluated to determine, if it was able to distinguish between population pharmacokinetic (PPK) models that were developed/estimated from influence data versus models that were not derived/estimated from influence data. Bootstrap was examined to see if there was a correspondence between the root mean squared prediction errors (RMSPE) for serum concentrations when estimated by external prediction methods versus when estimated by the standard bootstrap. In the case of PPC, C last , C first -C last and C mid values from initial data sets were compared to corresponding posterior distributions. In the case of no influence data for C last , C first -C last and C mid on average 76%, 30% and 52% of the values from the posterior distributions were below the initial C last , C first -C last and C mid on average 93%, 13% and 67% of the values from the posterior distributions were below the initial C last , C first -C last and C mid respectively. PPC was able to classify models from influence versus no influence data. In the case of bootstrap when the original model was used to predict into the external data the WRMSPE for drug 1, drug 2, drug 3, drug 4 and simulated data set was 10.40 mg/L, 20.36 mg/L, 0.72 mg/L, 15.27 mg/L and 14.24 mg/L respectively. From the bootstrap the improved WRMSPE for drug 1 drug 2, drug 3, drug 4 and simulated data set was 9.35 mg/L, 19.85 mg/L, 0.50 mg/L, 14.44 mg/L and 13.98mg/L respectively. The bootstrap provided estimates of WRMSPE that corresponded to the external validation methods. From the results obtained, it was concluded that both the PPC and the Bootstrap were demonstrated to have value as validation tools.
