Globos namų auklėtinių pilietiškumas / Civic Achievement of Students in the Childcare Institutions

In many European countries and countries of the world civic education is given special consideration – in the documents of European Council, United Nations, UNESCO and European Union democratic civic achievement dimension is considered highly significant. An important event for the civic education confirms this: European Council declared 2005 the year of civic achievement. Meanwhile, the changing society of Lithuania under the conditions of the democracy that is building up, still lacks citizens able to evaluate, freely express themselves, pursue independent, substantive decisions and find them – therefore, in our country civic education gets more and more consideration. However, there are just a few researches that analyze civic maturity of the students; and I couldn’t find researches that had been carried out on the civic achievement of the students in the childcare institutions not only in the Lithuanian, but also in the foreign literature. Therefore, I chose the expression of the civic achievement in life of the students in the childcare institutions as the object of my research; and, in order to estimate the civic achievement (i.e. civic attitudes, knowledge, values and participation) of the teenagers in the childcare institutions, I analyzed scientific literature and documents that regulate civic education, and displayed peculiarities of civic education of the teenagers in the childcare institutions. Balansgång mellan att vara privat och professionell : En undersökning med personal på HVB / The balance between being private and professional : A survey with staff at hvb

The authors felt, after workning at HVB, that there was an ambiguity about how to find the correct balance in their professional role and how much personal information shoud be shared whilst building a relationship. The aim of the study is to gain an understanding of how the staff at HVB homes work to find a correct approach towards the youth and what support they receive from management. We also want to deepen our understanding of how the saff whilst building the relationships with the young people, find the balance between being professional or private. To study this, we have conducted a qualitative study where ten respondents partiecipated in semi-stuctured interviews that form the basis for this work. Results show that the support that staff receive from management is through staff meetings. There are no written guidelines and no clarification on what the terms; professional, personal and private mean. What we noticed is that the terms were not clear to the respondents, which is likely to lead to missunderstandings amongst the staff. Futhermore, the results show that the staff belives that the most inportant thing in the relationship-building work is the focus on youth treatment and being responsive to the youth's needs. The staff works actively to find the balance around how they should act in relationship building and approach it in a professional manner. Respondents talk about it being up to each one in relationship building, which is visible in the results.

CHOCHOLOUSOVA, S. The right of child, who is placed under institucional care, to be in contact with one of its imprisoned parents. Prague: Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague, 2013. 140 s. Diploma thesis. This diploma thesis is focused on the children of imprisoned parents in the Czech Republic. It deals with the right of the child to have contact with a parent in prison, the actual realization of this contact and its support in Czech and international legal frameworks. In the center of attention is due to the imprisonment of parents and separated families. There are problems with severing emotional attachments between the separated child. Growing up in childcare institutions, without their biological parent, has implications for their upbringing. Thanks to theoretic knowledge and conclusions the theoretical part is drawn up and implemented by quantitative questionnaire surveys of all childcare institutions in the Czech Republic. Their purpose is to find out whether the child's right to contact with imprisoned parents is carried out, what type of contact is most often implemented, and what obstacles prevent most of the contact.
